Great game, If you haven't played the PC version

The Sims 2 for Gamecube, is actually a very good game! Despite what other reviewers might say, this game is actually worth the buy! I'll get right into it...
The BIG problem is that this game sucks compared to the PC versions. If this is one of the first Sims you have played for any console...It is a great start! This might be one of the best "Sims" game for all consoles excluding PC.

The Good:
-You can actually control your own Sim (like move him around yourself)
-You have "Wants" and "Fears" that make you Sim unique!
-Game is fairly long, and surprisingly fresh.
-Great graphics and Music

The Bad:
-It sucks compared to the PC version (can't get pregnant, older, flexibility, etc)
-YOU CANNOT DO "STORY" MODE AND "FREE" MODE AT THE SAME TIME! For some idiotic reason, you cannot have to separate files for this game...which completely blows!

This game is absolutely worth a buy.
The average price for this game is $20.
I give it $17/$20.

The Game is the BOmb

I bought this game for my sis for Christmas she always wanted the sims 2 but my pc was not the best because of the specifications you needed. I decided to buy her the Sims 2 for game cube and she enjoys it very much. She was addicted to Sims and talked about getting sims 2 for at least 2 years. The only thing she does not like about this one is that you can't make children but she likes to Woohoo!! anyway. She like to play it in story mode since there is more adventure that way and thats were you get to unlock streets and clothes etc. The game is great and if your pc is too slow for the Sims 2 i recommend this one.

Why all the negative reviews? I LOVE this game!

I'm unsure why this game received so many negative reviews. I had this for my PS2 and loved it so much that I bought the Gamecube version to use on my Wii. If you know anything about Sims games for video game systems, you'd know that the majority of them are not completely like the original PC version. If you buy this game, you must know that no, this isn't exactly like the original BUT it's still fun nonetheless.

So what's to like about this game? First, I prefer to play with another person because it can get hard having to control multiple people. Each character has their own goals (some are hard and some are easy). You must achieve these goals while maintaining a job (preferably) and keeping your stats up high. It can get difficult but that's what I love about it. While one character is trying to keep his hunger level up, I can switch to another character and achieve her goal of painting a quality picture. There's a ton to do to keep you busy. Eventually, you get your gold goals that, once completed, unlock another location. The different places you can live in are so cool (from an ordinary house, to a hotel, to an artist's museum). You can even live on a boat once you complete a few rounds of the game!

Second, when you go to each new location, you get to hear a story about what's going on with the people who live there and what their ultimate goals involve. Each location has different goals and a cast of wacky chracters which makes for a non-repetitive game.

Third, it doesn't get old. Yes, once you beat the entire game, you may not want to replay the whole thing over again. However, after you achieve your gold goals, you can still play at certain locations and the goals keep on coming.

What's not to like? Those who want this to be exactly like the original game will be disappointed. No, you can't have children. No, you don't have complete control in Free Play mode. However, the achieving goals part of the game is fun and addictive.

Be sure to TRY this game before completely writing it off as a bad one. You may enjoy it! It's one of my favorite console games.

WARNING! YOU CANNOT HAVE CHILDREN IN THIS VERSION OF THE SIMS 2! YOUR SIMS WILL NEVER GROW OLD!

No one else directly adressed this problem so I will. In Create A Family, I only had the option to make adult sims, no old people, no kids, babies, nothing. Plus when I created a family this way, I could not make them siblings, wife, exc... They're all "Roommates". The "Try For Baby" option does not appear. When my male sims were abducted by aliens, they did not return pregnant. I've tried it a dozen times on 1 male sim and he NEVER became pregnant. Plus, my sims never age in this game. I have taken them through several weeks and they have never grown old. The Gamecube version seems like it was watered down so 6 year olds could play it. Maybe that's why I couldn't do any of the above. *laughs*

Consider the above when you buy the GC version of Sims 2.

It's not that great

I purchased this game with some of my spare money and it wasn't worth the money at all. It's fun at first but it gets boring extremely quickly. The gamecube version is not as great as the PC version, which isn't fair.If you play in story mode,it is very hard to win and I eventually just give up.I don't recommend this game unless you enjoy these kind of things. It's not worth the money in my opinion.

Extremely Inferior To Other Versions

I bought this game because I liked the idea of being able to play it on a console instead of being chained to a PC or laptop. I knew it wouldn't be AS involved as the PC version, but I could not believe how much it lacked. It was not even as good or involved as "Bustin Out", which came before this one. The Sim builder is the WORST, very few choices and you cannot really make your Sims look very different from one another at ALL. With the few options you're given, they all look the same. The houses are different, the layout is different and, like a few have mentioned before, there are no babies. There are so many things an avid Sims fan will be expecting, but will not get with this version, so I'd say don't waste your money. Just get an expansion pack for the superior PC series or stick to the original Sims or "Bustin Out" if you want a console version. They're much more fun and rewarding. This version makes one think that the designers merely 'threw something together' to capitalize on potential console sales.

What more were you expecting?

Personally, I KNEW that this game was gonna suck BIG time. Ever since I saw the commerical, I could see that this was going to be a huge down-fall of the great games Maxis has made.

I do not get why the hell they would just leave out the 2 floors, neighborhood mode, and children... AND pools. What the hell is left after all these great things have been stripped down? NOTHING. I am very disappointed in maxis now. I used to love the sims games but.. This is NOT a sims 2. It is more like a sims.. Zero. No babies. All the previous ones had babies. No pools. All the previous ones had pools.

No decent and non-futuristic furniture.

No nice rugs.

Not many furniture.

A waste of money.

ANDD it feels soo alone in there sometimes.. Pretty depressing. And I DID not like the fact that they could not die. Ghost mode? Wow what a great idea! What can you do? Puke on people? Haunt people? Possess them? Wail? HOW FUN! Geeee I NEED THIS GAME!

And when you finish the game, you are left with a feeling that you wasted your money.

And the only fun part is making the sims. Not that they look normal, anyway. They look like.... Just not like normal people. They can't be ugly. They can't even look fat.

It's more like a DVD interactive game.

So note the advice below.

I advise you to just send this to someone who you are not very fond of.

It's not that bad.

Okay, everybody is saying it's really repetitive and there is no storyline. NOT SO TRUE. You have to find the NEW LOCATIONS. Once you get through a couple of new locations, you have to complete OTHER people's goals, and they get much harder (you find yourself playing more with the other characters than with your own, and you have to take care of like three!)! There are like 13 locations, and the locations are like levels. I've only gone up to the Biodome place, which is about half-way.
I wouldn't recommend buying this game, but it IS fun to rent and it seems more fun because you haven't played it in awhile. TWO PLAYER IS AWESOME, so get a friend and play!

Very Repetetive

This game is fun.... for the first 30 minutes. Then it gets extremely repetitive. You fall in love with a girl, you clean puddles in the bathroom, you make yourself a meal... It all gets very boring, and very repetitive after a while(and I only played this game for the first time yesterday).

The characters speak in gibberish, which is very annoying, and they lindsay lohan/avril lavinge/hilary duff type music(with gibberish words) on the stereo which the computer sims keep turning on. I hate that type of music. I turn it off, and they turn it on again. When you get a job, you just go to a carpool. You don't actually get to see the office or anything.

From reviews of the computer version I was expecting more

To make it short and sweet, for those of us who don't meet the requirments for the computer version of The Sims, this version (which is also on PS2) is the best one for consoles. I've played all three of the console Sim games and this (or Bustin' Out!) is my favorite. It's really solid, the worst part is not being able to have a kid. Other than that, all the regular stuff is still there (along with some neat things like learning/cooking recipes). However, the computer version is better because there is so much more. Hope you found this helpful.
