I know this game is great. I asked my mom to get his for christmas, and man it was awesome! I mean, I know that you cant have kids or get pregnant, but its okay. Kids get annoying on this game anyway. BUY IT for a kid under the age of 17, anyone older than that dont even bother. I hope this was help to everyone. Like I said, buy it for a teen 11-17 yrs., old.

Why all the negative reviews? I LOVE this game!

I'm unsure why this game received so many negative reviews. I had this for my PS2 and loved it so much that I bought the Gamecube version to use on my Wii. If you know anything about Sims games for video game systems, you'd know that the majority of them are not completely like the original PC version. If you buy this game, you must know that no, this isn't exactly like the original BUT it's still fun nonetheless.

So what's to like about this game? First, I prefer to play with another person because it can get hard having to control multiple people. Each character has their own goals (some are hard and some are easy). You must achieve these goals while maintaining a job (preferably) and keeping your stats up high. It can get difficult but that's what I love about it. While one character is trying to keep his hunger level up, I can switch to another character and achieve her goal of painting a quality picture. There's a ton to do to keep you busy. Eventually, you get your gold goals that, once completed, unlock another location. The different places you can live in are so cool (from an ordinary house, to a hotel, to an artist's museum). You can even live on a boat once you complete a few rounds of the game!

Second, when you go to each new location, you get to hear a story about what's going on with the people who live there and what their ultimate goals involve. Each location has different goals and a cast of wacky chracters which makes for a non-repetitive game.

Third, it doesn't get old. Yes, once you beat the entire game, you may not want to replay the whole thing over again. However, after you achieve your gold goals, you can still play at certain locations and the goals keep on coming.

What's not to like? Those who want this to be exactly like the original game will be disappointed. No, you can't have children. No, you don't have complete control in Free Play mode. However, the achieving goals part of the game is fun and addictive.

Be sure to TRY this game before completely writing it off as a bad one. You may enjoy it! It's one of my favorite console games.

What more were you expecting?

Personally, I KNEW that this game was gonna suck BIG time. Ever since I saw the commerical, I could see that this was going to be a huge down-fall of the great games Maxis has made.

I do not get why the hell they would just leave out the 2 floors, neighborhood mode, and children... AND pools. What the hell is left after all these great things have been stripped down? NOTHING. I am very disappointed in maxis now. I used to love the sims games but.. This is NOT a sims 2. It is more like a sims.. Zero. No babies. All the previous ones had babies. No pools. All the previous ones had pools.

No decent and non-futuristic furniture.

No nice rugs.

Not many furniture.

A waste of money.

ANDD it feels soo alone in there sometimes.. Pretty depressing. And I DID not like the fact that they could not die. Ghost mode? Wow what a great idea! What can you do? Puke on people? Haunt people? Possess them? Wail? HOW FUN! Geeee I NEED THIS GAME!

And when you finish the game, you are left with a feeling that you wasted your money.

And the only fun part is making the sims. Not that they look normal, anyway. They look like.... Just not like normal people. They can't be ugly. They can't even look fat.

It's more like a DVD interactive game.

So note the advice below.

I advise you to just send this to someone who you are not very fond of.

This game is AWESOME!!!!

This game is so cool. I asked my dad for it for a christmas present and ever since, I've been playing it like crazy. It is far better than "The Sims". I would recommend this game for children of ages 11-17. The Sims 2 is totally awesome. You can create your own sim, directly control every move, design dream homes, and there are more than 350 objects! Build skills, maintain careers, and make friends and foes. I think MAXIS did a good job with this one. This game ROCKS!!!

This game sorta SUCKS!!!!!!

At first, when i got this game, I thought it was really cool and fun. But now, it sorta sucks, BIG TIME!! You can't have kids and the goals are repetitive. It is boring. You can't have any kids in this game which makes it even boringer. Sure, it will be fun and you will feel like you can't stop playing it at first, but trust me, this game is even worser than The Sims. Don't make the same dumb mistake I did. I could have gotten something better for Christmas. Get it for PC. I hear it's real better. Overall, this game SUCKS!!!!!!

NOT ANOTHER SIM GAME!

I just had to buy this game, I got the PC game before the gamecube one, I loved the PC one, but after a while, it just got pretty flat and repetitive, I like the fact that you don't have to stick with the same clothes every single day, the sims in the console port look pretty more creative than the ones in the PC one.

I so love the new under-shirts choices, and I love that you can pick out your shoes and stuff like that, and even choose which style you want it, like, cut it and stuff, but dont think that you can just cut them, the exact way you want them. It usually only has three styles.

I love the new analog control, and I really hated it when the people refused to do anything in the PC one, I had seventeen babies in the game, the mom refused to call the nanny, and even take care of the baby, all of them died. I got so mad that I just killed the mom.

I was a little disappointed that you couldnt have babies, and age, but you can age, in your way, like, hair colors, face looks, and after they just get too old, you can delete them and "make a new baby" of course she/he would have to be either a teenager or an adult, other wise you would have a very tall sim child.

overall, this game is the best game that I have ever bought and played!

Addictive

This is a really good game. Its one of those games that u have to play but dont really want to play untill ur playing it, by which time u cant stop playing it. U can control ur guy/girl with the d stick (direct Control) or push the Z button to let them move around by them selves. The basic thing in the game is to keep ur sim happy. There is a story mode where ur sims have wants and needs that u have to fullfil or they die or get depressed and wont do anything. There is freeplay mode (i havent tried it yet), and there is multiplayer mode which is just like story mode but there is more than one person playing, u even use a already created story mode file! The new
player(s) creates a new sim and when u go back into single player mode u have control over that sim(s) they/he/she created. There are 4 basics for the sims personality, romance, poularity, wealth, and knowledge. u also get to customize ur sims personalities just like in the computer version. If u by a wardrobe u can change ur character's (and any characters u control) clothes, and hair style and color. this means u go back into the menu u have to choose from when ur first creating ur sim. Also when a sim dies there gohst haunt the place they died at. If u have control over a sim that dies u can control the gohst. Gohst can float through walls, and instead of the normal sociale activities they can puke on people, take over there body (when u do this they act like a chicken), wail, and spooke. If a sim dies on accident or u want to bring back a dead sim u can beat Death in a fiddle challenge or pay him 100 money to come back to life. Ur sims have wants that (depending on ur basic personality) can range from woohoo (in bed) to getting a job. If u raise ur sims liking for another sim enough u can propose to them. Any sim u marry u gain control over them u can also cheat on them with other sims (if u choose romance as ur basic personality then u have to because they usualy have "WooHoo with 2 different sims" or "WooHoo with 3 different sims"). By fullfilling ur sims wants u get apiration points which help u unlock new objects, and fullfilliing ur sims gold and platinum needs u can get new locations. there are some characters in new locations that u can control even though the game made them. so all in all Sims 2 is an extremly fun and addictive game.

WARNING! YOU CANNOT HAVE CHILDREN IN THIS VERSION OF THE SIMS 2! YOUR SIMS WILL NEVER GROW OLD!

No one else directly adressed this problem so I will. In Create A Family, I only had the option to make adult sims, no old people, no kids, babies, nothing. Plus when I created a family this way, I could not make them siblings, wife, exc... They're all "Roommates". The "Try For Baby" option does not appear. When my male sims were abducted by aliens, they did not return pregnant. I've tried it a dozen times on 1 male sim and he NEVER became pregnant. Plus, my sims never age in this game. I have taken them through several weeks and they have never grown old. The Gamecube version seems like it was watered down so 6 year olds could play it. Maybe that's why I couldn't do any of the above. *laughs*

Consider the above when you buy the GC version of Sims 2.

COMPUTER VERSION IS BETTER!

I bought this game because I liked the idea of being able to play it on a console instead of being chained to a PC or laptop. I knew it wouldn't be AS involved as the PC version, but I could not believe how much it lacked. It was not even as good or involved as "Bustin Out", which came before this one. The Sim builder is the WORST, very few choices and you cannot really make your Sims look very different from one another at ALL. With the few options you're given, they all look the same. The houses are different, the layout is different and, like a few have mentioned before, there are no babies. There are so many things an avid Sims fan will be expecting, but will not get with this version, so I'd say don't waste your money. Just get an expansion pack for the superior PC series or stick to the original Sims or "Bustin Out" if you want a console version. They're much more fun and rewarding. This version makes one think that the designers merely 'threw something together' to capitalize on potential console sales.
