Everything you've heard is true

It is definately not the lack of good previous Simpsons games that make Hit and Run so excellent. This game more than makes up for it's predecessors. It is one of the most enthralling adventure games I've ever played. Whether you are an occasional watcher of the show, a never seen it before viewer, or one of "those" who own every guidebook, DVD, the piano songbook, and the life-size homer cut out I saw at the mall today, you will love this game. It has racing, problem solving, obstacle courses, and mass destruction on its list of tasks, and I haven't even seen it past the first level yet! Avid fans will enjoy Hit and Run the most because of the many refernces to the show. You get to see the world's largest toilet, race through the nuclear power plant, collect tomacco plants, and (best of all) you get to kick Ned Flanders and other annoying characters many times. The main missions are easy enough to get through, but the side missions, extra races, gag tasks, and shear expanse of the Simpsons world will keep you occupied for many a sleepless night. The only downside so far with this game comes when you want to complete every single task per level. Then you find yourself in a quite frustrating search that takes you EVERYWHERE in Springfield that could make your temper throw the controller across the room. Be patient and enjoy the environment! Buy this game! Who could really resist seeing Homer run around town in his underwear?! And remember...No jumping in the Springfield Tire Fire!

At last, a good simpsons game

This is the first Simpsons game that is any good. It's very amusing with a lot of Simpsons related humor involved. The graphics are excellent 3D renditions of the 2D versions.

Springfield town looks fabulous and driving through, knocking over people is excellent (but harmless) fun. Characters fall in ragdoll style and shout insults. Too much mayhem results in a police chase.

The game is based around a series of GTA style missions. These are varied, reasonably challenging but not too difficult and fun. There are plenty of hidden elements and the replay value is very high.

When figuring out the controls I was stood in front of an old ladie (I think it was Principal Skinner's mother). I pressed the red button only to hear Homer shout 'take that' and kick her hard enough for her to collapse on the floor. It was so funny. I proceeded to go and find flanders and kick him up and down the street.

Contains all of your favorite characters. I love this game.

D'OH! Mmmmm ... Simpsons on video game!

THE SIMPSONS HIT AND RUN is a quantum leap from the ROAD RAGE game previously released. In ROAD RAGE you played a driving game that imitated CRAZY TAXI, and this one is more like GTA - missions on foot and driving. In HIT AND RUN you hoof it for some portions of the game, and you drive a variety of cars (just pick one off the road by standing in front of it and pressing the "y" button). You have to complete missions and tasks for the residents of Springfield while also looking out for some evil aliens that are spying on you from cola machines and robotic insects.

The SIMPSONS actors voiced all the characters and the writers had a hand in the plot of the game. Springfield is lovingly reproduced in massive detail and depth. You want to stop driving every now and then to look around at all the billboards and other items that have SIMPSONS lore : ads for Duff Beer, Krusty Burger restaurants and delivery vans, ads for The NEW area code, and tomacco plants fill the horizon.

This ones not too hard - although many of the bonus missions are tricky! But it's so BIG and there's so much to explore! WoW! And unlike ROAD RAGE the characters talk a lot more than just their catch phrases - and there are more mini-movies in the game and they look better. Great game!

It's fun to smash things

Grand Theft Simpsons is a great idea. But the execution is not in regards to this game. It may look wonderful but the graphics are not without their annoying flaws and while the voice cast may be great the initial hilarity quickly gives way to tedium.

Simpsons: Hit and Run is an average game. It has a lot of coolness to it but also a lot of crappiness that severely cripples enjoyment.

Pros:

-Zillions of in jokes
-It's incredibly cute
-The muzak can sometimes sound quite cool
-Some of the levels look simply gorgeous
-The levels are big enough without being too big and there's lots to explore.
-The cut-scenes are brilliant!
-It's got a better plot than the lame, tired TV show has had in years.

Cons:

-Not enough ways to make money
-Money is all too easily taken from you
-Many cool things are available to buy but there isn't enough money in the level to buy them
-All missions are timed and involve collecting things
-Traffic jams occur faaaar too easily and they are very, very hard to get out of
-Wherever you want to go, a hundred cars will be blocking your way
-Many kinds of car are available, but they're all crap
-Certain cars are required for certain missions but for no real reason
-When the Police are after you it's almost impossible to get away
-The police will come after you too quickly and easily
-Whenever you desperately need a car there won't be one for miles
-Many, MANY opportunities for amazing stunts are ignored, most of the time the game will simpley fade out and then back in rather than show a cool crash
-There's not really that much interaction with the environment
-There is no proper mapping system
-The camera often gets stuck
-Since when was Springfield a vast metropolis?

I'll admit that I simply gave up on this game, it's just absolutely IN-FUR-I-ATING. I wanted to crush the controls with my hand and smash in my TV screen in uncontrollable, blind, ugly rage. THAT is what this game will do to you. The poor programming and unfair disadvantages will drive you crazy. If this is the kind of game you like (and why?) then go ahead. For the rest of us who rely on skill and strategy (and not just luck) in order to get through video games, we'll calmly put this game aside and move onto something else.

There are a lot of people who say this game sucks because all the missions are all same. That maybe true but that is not the reason why the game is fun. The game lets you drive around all of springfield!!! and be homer marge lisa bart and apu thet all have 3 different outfits except homer and bart have six. There are tons of cars to own. Tons. there are tons of strreet races to take part in. it gets down to this if you like the simpsons get the game you will probably like it. If you don't like the simpsons don't get it.

Drive around Springfield like Mr Burns on Ether!!

This game is extremely addictive. You can drive around Springfield, GTA style without any regard for cartoon life or property and enjoy every minute of it. Just don't get caught by Chief Wiggum and his boys or you'll have to pay a hefty fine. Some of the mini missions have great rewards to unlock. Heres a tip: When you get to level 7 try to complete all three DMV races first. The car you get will be well worth it believe me. Simpsons fans of all ages will love this game.

That's right, folks! Just like how Road Rage was a lift off of Crazy Taxi, Hit & Run is the Simpsons treatment of Grand Theft Auto, only with a PG-13 rating. Even so this game has a tremendous amount of promise and should be a Homer (bad joke). If you liked the game play of GTA, buy this one! If like me, you've never played any of the GTA games because you own a Gamecube instead of a PS2, they buy this game TODAY. You'll be getting the best of both worlds; a new Simpsons game chock full o' in-jokes and laughs, and a version of GTA for us Nintendo fans. Personally I'm so sure this is going to be a winner, I'm preordering it sight unseen.

This game is really fun and addicitive! It is basically a car-driving game (very little on foot) and you are given missions to smash other vehicles, chase/follow enemies, find/collect objects and race other cars. The missions are fun but some are pretty easy to beat after a few tries. For any missions that are a little more difficult, after you attempt it a few times without success, the game lets you skip it and move on to the next, which is a feature I really liked. (There's nothing worse than getting stuck on one impossible level in a game.)
There are seven levels, and about 7 missions per level. There are also bonus missions and opportunities to race to get new cars and more money. You get to play different Simpsons characters throughout the game, such as the entire Simpson family and Apu.
I'm a die-hard Simpsons fan, and I love this game. It was especially cool to get to drive around Springfield and see all my favorite characters and spots from the show (the school, the Kwik-E-Mart, the observatory, etc.) It is also very accurate to the television show (I heard that some of the actual show writers, and even Matt Groening himself, helped write the "script" for the game.) The game is built around an "episode" (with a few "mini-movies" after a level) and you progress the storyline through each mission you accomplish.
My only (very, very minor) complaint is the camera angles are sometimes a little weird in places, i.e., if you drive under objects or into some areas it is hard to see and adjust your view.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this game, and I usually hate car-racing/-driving games. It's a blast!

Great, fun game to play for GTA fans!

I bought this game because I only own a gamecube and I wanted to experience the GTA gameplay that my friends were raving about. It features all the simpsons characters and plenty of locations and vehicles to play around with. I still haven't found all the secret bonuses in the game, so there's plenty to love and play.
