For starters, for those of you who want to try, this game does not install on Intel Celeron processors. Secondly, this game is fun for about two hours and then becomes tedious and boring. If the Taldren/Activison alliance wanted to put out a "good" game, then they should have spent more time beta testing ( gee, other software companies do it so why shouldn't they ).
A taste of the past

Overall, this game was a meduim on the scale. One big plus is that it doesn't require the original Star Trek: Startfleet Command II to run. But, the graphics were poor, and the lack of a substantial storyline had a major inpact. Also, there were many variations on ship classes. It gets confusing, remembering which ship you bought when.
If I had a choice, I would use my money on the next game up, Star Trek: Starfleet Command III. It removes most of the flaws mentioned above, and it has a very good replay value. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me at cloudmouse@gmail.com. Thank you!

When I first heard that activision was making a sequel to Armada 1 I was overjoyed. Because though Armada 1 is a great game there are so many things that could be better. The main thing was the graphics. They were good for the time but they could have been better. In Armada 2 the graphics are indeed superior. Also the game field is in full 3D unlike Armada 1 in which it was 3D on a 2D plane. In this version there are 6 playable races instead of the original 4 and each of the 3 campaigns has 10 mission instead of the original 4. I could go on like this all day but I want to play the game! It is well worth the money and I recommend it fully to any Star Trek or RTS gaming fan.
This game is pretty good

This game is the best game I've every played. And it's much better than Voyager Elite Force, which was good, but it lacked things that are in Elite Force 2. I wish that they'd stop giving the players non Federation guns. The Federation should stick to using their own weapons. That's just how I feel anyways. I know that the Arc Gun saved me a few times. And the Quantum Burst kills me more than it kills the enemy. The Compression Rifles are my favorite. As for my favorite mission... The Attrexian Station (donno the actual name of it). The worst... That swamp planet you crash on. It was a good idea to have a swamp scene, but it wasn't very detailed. Well, I stop now. PLAY THE GAME.

I played this game ad infnitum; the gameplay and graphics are great, although I wish that the economic model wasn't so stingy with the X-Generation ships. I found that an XCA or XCB was more than a match for just about any battleship. The Romulan, Gorn and Hydran X-ships were the best (the Romulan and Gorn varients tended to copy each other), while I found the ISC to be good in concept, but underpowered, the Mirak and Klingon just okay, the Federation variants a bit hard to master - but well worth the effort - and the Lyran X-varients decidedly inferior. The game tended to crash if you were playing either as a part of the pirate cartels or against them, and if you were playing as the Lyrans and used your ESG's to ram, the game would generate an aural artifact that would continue well after the end of the scenrio. Still, all in all, a better game than SFC II due to the inclusion of the X-Ships.
