I am a huge fan of the Splinter Cell series. I think it had the potential to be the best game series ever! The original was fantastic. A true instant classic. It did however leave many doors unopened and many options for improvement. This game, the 2nd Splinty, is very satisfying and very dissapointing. It is great beause the graphics are improved considerably but the levels are SO dark, you end up playing 90% of the game in night vison black and gray rendering the graphics average. Also this game is sooooooooo short. The 1rst is ver very long with a involved story. This one is just a terrorism scare with Smallpox, nothing original, no plot twists. The story ends before it gets started. This game was very rushed. Also I read a lot about how it would be more of a character driven story. There is nothing personal revealed about the characters of Sam and Lambert. The dialoge is improved but not imensly. The levels are funner, that train lvel is great! But sadly this game was very short with no improvements but graphics.
Well, not as good as the first one + Lambert and Sam talk diffrent

This is my second go round with Mr. Fisher, and though I had a better time with him this adventure, I still can't say that the time we shared was great--good, yes, but not great. I guess I'm just not a stealth-game guy; I like shooting stuff, killing stuff, and doing both while making as much noise as possible. Ultimately, though, I think it comes down to this: there are games you can't wait to play again even while you're playing them; games you enjoy playing while you're playing them, but have no interest in playing again; and games that are so awful that you've no interest in playing them to the end. For me, both the first two Splinters are the second type of game. But I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, because Chaos Theory here I come!

5 STARS.Ubisoft did a good job with pandora tommorow for PS2.Of course you play as Sam Fisher the splinter cell. You are one out of maybe a dozen more who helps create freedom.By now you should of course know that if you love all out shooting games then you should avoid this one. There are a few new moves and gadgets at your disposal this time. The half-split jump allows you to fit into smaller spaces. The swat-turn lets you move from one side of a door to another side without detection. And the 2 newest weapon upgrades are the laser on your pistol(better aiming) and you can now zoom in with your sniper. And like the last game the extra level is awesome. The graphics have improved so much. But every good game has it's down falls. There are 3 major downsides.Way to many checkpoints(it's bad to me),painfully long load times, and not to many lights. But less lights is not so bad since guards will hesitate to pull the alarm for about a second or so giving you time to shoot them. That still dosen't make it that much easier. So to finish things off here's the good(pros),the bad(cons),and the confuzzling...or confusing.
Pros:Sweet graphics.
Awesome A.I
Breath taking stealth.
Good challenge.
Cons:Painfully long load times.
To many checkpoints.
Not enough lights.
Confuzzling:I think sam's getting to old.
Dosen't the split jump hurt.
Sam jumps funny.
Bye!!!WAIT JUST A SECOND...
Special review:Before you guys leave theres a little something special I want you to read.
Splinter cell:Chaos Theory
I have obtained a bit of info from the official splinter cell 3 website. You still control sam in his new game.In splinter cell 3 the graphics will be as realistic as the systems can handle.A.I will be greatly improved because enimies will react when it starts to rain.Sam now has even better moves and weapons. If there is an enemy standing behind a door you can bash it open to knock the enemy unconcious. And also if you are hanging from a pipe and a enemy walks under you sam can now put his feet around there head and snap there neck.Same goes for hanging upside down. You can use more physical moves now because you have a new arrange of chockeholds and other things to get rid of an enemy physicly.I know of 2 new weapons for now.First off you have a knife. And although they can change it for now Ubisoft has stated that the knife is not for killing.Instead it's used for cutting things like curtains or other fabrics. And now M.A.W.S(modular assult weapon system)...or in english your assult rifle now has a shotgun emplacement(I hope this dosen't ruin the stealth). In the 3rd game you will see the darker side of sam.Im not sure if this game will contain blood. The first game did have blood but it only happened when you shot the fish on the level where you had to rescue Ivan(the fishy's blew up in a bloody mess). It's funny because on prince of persia 2 the prince has a darker attitude also.I would tell you guys more but "Whose Line Is It Anyways?" is on right now. This game along with the prince are supposedly gonna come out this year. Here's what to expect.
As the enemy evolves, so must you.
EXCLUSIVE CLOSE RANGE KILLS: From knife attacks to athletic hand-to-hand kills such as inverted neck breaks, dramatic ledge throws and other new moves.
CO-OP STEALTH: Play online or offline multiplayer with a friend and coordinate your infiltration in an all new multiplayer challenge.
REAL WEAPONS OF TOMORROW: The most complete arsenal of weapons and gadgets from the knife to the modular SC20K.
AMAZING REPLAYABILITY: Totally open level design with multi-paths and optional secondary objectives.
ULTIMATE CHALLENGE: Intelligent enemies that make your mission more risky as you must get closer to them than ever before.
HIGH-RISK MISSIONS: Steal sensitive documents from under the nose of your enemies, takeout a terrorist surrounded by his bodyguards...
AS GOOD AS REAL: Never seen before graphics technology offers the best visuals ever seen on any console. Advanced physics engine allows rag doll physics, particle effects and perfect interaction with the environment.
THRILLING SCENARIO: In-game gut wrenching sequences and gripping plot with multiple twists and turns.
Well...BYE!!!
Methodical. Intuitive, and Fun.

Stealth games have always seemed a little awkward to me. To be fair, the only stealth games I played were Metal Gear Solid games. So, the awkward controls, horrible camera angles, and needless movies made me ignore all other stealth games. I finally decided to try Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow on a whim. Let me say, wow!
First off, the controls are intuitive and easy to get accustomed to. They just feel right. The first mission is a sort of a tutorial that takes much of the mystery away from the game. The on screen meters work very well. All the actions are intuitive. They include jumping, crouching, aiming, zoom, wall hugging, peeking, throwing, whistling, etc.
The best part of the game is the fun, thoughtful gameplay that is just pure joy. For example, instead of entering a room and blasting away, you need to shoot a light to get yourself completely in the dark, use an optic cable at a door to make sure it's clear, open the door to the room, shoot out any lights that you can, shoot or avoid cameras, walk to the shadows, whistle to attract a guard and knock him out. You need to this silently without getting noticed. This approach to game playing is both refreshing and revolutionary when done right, as it is done here. When the flow of the game is moving along (the first half of the game), it's just plain addictive.
There are numerous flaws that take away from this game though. The biggest flaw is the fact that you cannot save anytime you want. Even though the checkpoints are numerous, in many circumstances you'll still have to kill the same two guards over and over again. This is further amplified by the fact some missions (the latter ones) are not well designed or lack information. For example, the fifth mission is probably the worst. You need to follow a person who sometimes can see behind his back. Sometimes, I would get mission failure for almost no reason. For example, for an hour and a half, I kept getting failures without any explanation. Only when looking at a walkthrough on the Internet did I realize why I failed and what I needed to do. This was not fun.
Also, the latter mission get annoying. There are entirely too many enemies. It moves from a stealth game to a shooter. This is not that bad in itself, but the shooting is pretty random with the pistol, and for the main gun, ammo is very limited for some reason in random missions (you have no idea when you need to save ammo and when you can shoot more freely), and close up fighting is akward. Walking up to a persona and hitting someone fails about 20% for really no fallable reason. Another annoying factor is the jumping. There are many ledges that seem like you can jump onto, only to find out you can't, and there are many ledges that can be jumped onto, but the awkward jump only works about 1/4 the time.
Also, there is multiplayer. There is no slit-screen co-op mode, so that took away a lot of the fun. There is on-line competition where it's two against two, but being fodder for a bunch of anonymous gaming nerds does not appeal to me, so I didn't bother with multiplayer.
All in all, it's a good game. Remove the flaws and define and refine the latter missions, and this would be one of the greatest games ever.
Pros:
Methodical
Intuitive controls
Good graphics
Adjustable camera
Emphasis on thought and strategy
Cons:
Random lack of ammo
Uneven missions
Close up action feels awkward
Pistol shots to head is almost random
Jumping seems weird
Latter Mission design sometimes unintuitive or lack information
Multiplayer is worthless (no co-op!)
Time to Complete: 20 hours
Difficulty: Medium
Frustration Level: Medium

This game is awsome. The single player mode is greatly changed from the first splinter cell and the added online capability makes this the perfect game for an action fan. The fact that you can whistle and get a guards attention, is better than having to find a bottle or can, but tells you that ubisoft was thinking about the little things that would much improve this game. What is really awsome about this game is that it takes place more outside than the last game did. It includes jungles and rivers you have to travel through. The only problem is the lack of destructible lights, but I have 3 words... GET OVER IT. It is not that bad of a thing. A laser sight was also added to the hand gun for more precise shooting, because it is difficult to get a head shot with that big cross-hair that you were stuck with in the first game. The online capability makes this, by far, the ultimate game. You can play ass a heavily armed "argus" mercinary, or a stealthy "shadownet" spy. I prefer the spy because you can stealth up behind a merc and either choke them to death or snap their neck. SNAP THEIR NECK! That is freakin' awsome. The merc are not to bad either. Their hmachine gun can throw granades or blast a spy. I like the spys beacuse they have night and heat vision goggles. The mercs have motion sensing(not that good) and electromagnetic vision (ok if you are up close). Their is nothing better than hiding in the shadows and waiting for a merc to run by so you can silently snap his neck and wisper something in his ear (if you have a mic) right before the deed is done.
gameplay: 4.5 - 5.0
this is a really fun game. Online is awsome and single player is much improved with great originality. If only their were more chances to use you gun at a distance without someone seeing your laser sight or the fact that someone WILL find the body. And online, if only the spies hade greater firepower than the stun sticky shokers they are forced to use.
lasting appeal: 5.0
The lasting appeal is great. Once you finish the engulfing single player storyline the online just keeps on entertaining. More levels will show up online once the hdd is out on the market.
Graphics: 5.0
for the ps2, the graphics are awsome and clear with great frame rates that never seem to lag. Shadows are awsome too. Online is the same, only the levels are darker so I suggest playing were ther is no glare on the screen because you won't be able to see.
Sound: 4.5 - 5.0
The sound is good. no music i good because you have to be able to hear the slightest things. the sound of the silenced guns are good and sound awsome. It just seems hat sometimes enemy react and hear the slightest things you do, but that makes the game more realistic.
P.S.
This game isn't perfect, but is sure DAMN close to it.
Good gameplay but feels like an "add-on"

Back in 2003 when the first Splinter Cell game was released for the Playstation 2, I was one of the skeptics. Could this game actually live up to the hype it built up on the XBox? Well it did, and it didn't. Now Sam Fisher is sneaking his way back on to the PS2 with Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. Though while it's a strong game, it still gives you the feeling that something is missing.
When I first loaded Pandora Tomorrow on my PS2 I was immediately struck by it's graphics. This game is a graphical achievement in the best sense. The environments are now less man made and more "natural". Grass sways in the breeze. Sunlight filters down through tree branches. There's alot of attention to detail in Pandora Tomorrow. Something that is new to the game is the addition of water. In certain levels, Sam Fisher will walk through standing water. The effect is rendered very realistically. This is probably one of the best looking games on the PS2 hands down. The only down side of the graphics is that some of the character models look a little too plastic. The sound unfortunatley doesn't keep up with the visuals. There are alot of audio drop outs, dialogue doesn't load at times, and the non-player character sounds often don't fully play. The sounds themselevs are crisp, but the events that trigger them are often at fault for these glitches.
The gameplay unfortunatley is the weakest point of the single player campaign. Much like the first game, the gameplay is PAINFULLY linear in nature. You basically go from Point A to Point B, accomplish a task and repeat. There is one way to do something and if you don't find it, you'll have to resort to alot of trial and error. Also, after seeing how linear the first game was, I'm very disappointed that this game was designed the same way. With more and more games going the "free roaming" route, it's astonishing to me that why this game would be linear almost to a fault. If you've played the Hitman series where there are multiple ways to accomplish a single goal, then this can be quite infuriating.
Again, much like in the first game the story is quite forgetable. It has something to do with Indonesian militants or something and a guy named Sodono I believe. Fake news reports move the story along but like in the first game, they do more to confuse rather than reinforce the action.
The controls are exactly the same as the first game. If you've played through the first game, you can jump right in and play this one. Also a new addition is support for the USB headset for both online multiplayer and single player.
The big selling point of this game is the online multiplayer, which requires a broadband internet connection. Unfortunately, with no Network Adaptor, I have yet to try the multiplayer games. Even with no Network Adaptor, the multiplayer tutorials are still available for play. The online combatants consist of Spys vs. Mercenaries (who play in first person). Spys rely on stealth while the Mercs depend on firepower.
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, while good, feels like less of a "complete game" and more like an "expansion pack". Even though this doesn't sound like a positive review, the game still warrants 4 stars for it's graphical prowess. If you're unsure, give it a rental. It will give you a good stealth fix till Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is released. However I don't feel that this game warrants a $49.99 price tag. If you can pick it up on sale.

This is an sweet game. The story line is inceredible. I am a stealth-espionage gamer. So, naturaly I would like this game. I think this game should be longer. I beat the game in about 8 hours. It is really easy. It would be better if you could pick up the weapons. The graphics should be better too.(Like MGS 2, hehe.) This game is for people who are just getting in to stealth games. I reccomend this game very much.8P

Man I couldn't wait for this game. I played the first, never beat it, but had alot of fun. Then I heard Pandora Tomorrow was coming out and I was excited. So I rented it, it just wasn't as fun. It felt like you lost some of your moves and got replaced with new ones. The story is... well It starts with a embassy being attacked then goes into something about French scientest freezing themselves then getting their brains taken out. I felt that it wasn't necessary for the story. Don't get me wrong it is a good game w/ great graphics, but just not as fun as before. I can't wait for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory ( aka Splinter Cell 3 ).
