play for hours

I have been playing this game for several months now. At first playing this game I had no clue what I was doing, though activision knew how to make a good walkthrough. This game is basically a medieval war strategy RPG. This game goes by the years. It kinda like playing chess to moving your troops around on the main board, but once your in battle... Thats the fun part. Once you enter a province that you are not allied with or own a short music will play then when your done your move you click end year then the other 11 CPU players go. after that it ask you if you really want to fight and you say yes and your off. Controling 10,000 troops at one time is hard but fun. Its more less like a real battle. Like some games your troops can get hit 10 times with bullets or arrows and not fall. In this game its like 2 arrows your dead. Its just a real time medieval war time strategy RPG. This game is alsome no doubt about that. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME!!!

This game consists of two games. First there is the 2-d turn-based strategy part which is somewhat like Civilization 1 where you move armies from one region to another, develop technology, build things, train troops, manage money, deal with other factions (countries), and use spies, inquisitors and the like. The other game is an impressive 3-d battle game often featuring over 1000 figures where battles started in the turn based game are resolved. Those battles a very cool for a while. I have not played the multiplayer game (which I think is just a battle).

have been playing for a week only, the camara angles are something new to get used too but the game play is AWESOME. been playing AoE and Shattered Galaxy, none of the 2 can even compare to this. get this ASAP u wont be disapointed

Maybe I'm just hard to please.

I loved Shogun and I really looked forward to this one. It is a chance to use the system that worked well for Japanese warfare in an historical setting closer to home (for me).

The only problems I have with the game are with the strategic map. I cannot seem to stop rebellion no matter how hard I try. All the things that a player should do I have done. Still rebellion. The loyalty of my provinces are well above 100%, and STILL rebellion.

On the positive side, you get to use all kinds of cool units. For example, although they are completely useless in battle, directing your cannons at the enemy is professional-dodgeball-league level of entertainment.

The way the creators weave history into the game (with actual bonuses and penalties associated) is truly fascinating. Shogun made me want to purchase this and this makes me feel good about going out to get the expansion pac.

This game is great and really brings strategy games to a whole new level. It is an accurate depiction of Medieval strategy and is a game any strategy lover should buy. The only problem is price. You can find this game for [$$$] or [$$$] online ...

Medieval: Total War is a perfect game for anyone who loves strategy and careful planing. This game is very detailed and requires you to have carful planing and rule your kingdom well. Stunning graphics and music are only a couple of the qualities this game posseses. Most people think that this game is composed of lots of battles and commanding armies. But really the battlefield is just a little bit of the game. Most of the game is managing your kingdom and carfully planing how you are going to overcome your neighboring kingdom.

I loved this game because I love strategy games with carful planing. Only people who are willing to spend time peparing armies and governing provences should get this game.

Great Buy, but get a mod...

This game is one of my favorite of all time, which is actually saying a bit since I have played everything from Atari on up. The only thing I can fault with the game is that it needed a bit of tweaking as found in the XL or BKB mods to make it truely, yet infinately, replayable. There are few other games that I have returned to so many times for so long.

Quick note, I just picked the game back up after going on a trip to Spain. Visit a country, learn a bit about it, then play as it for a REALLY fun experience. :D Trust me on this, you really feel a part of the game then.

When I bought this game, I honestly didn't know what 2 expect. I read the manual and it looked very challenging. And it was. You play the ruler from one country. The object is to conquer ALL territories on the map. You must deal with money, religion, alliences, weaknesses and advantages. The graphics are pretty good along w/ the sound. You could have speed problems if your computer doesn't have lots of memory. If you enjoyed Empires: Dawn of the . . . this is 300X better. The expansion is also very good. I hope my review was helpful . . .

This game rocks! IT's not an expansion as some have labelled it, but a new game engine that can literally render hundreds of units on the field of battle. An epic strategy title that you must have if you are a hardcore fan of the genre or just a noob looking to recreate the Battle of Stirling from Braveheart. They are doing another sequel Rome Total War that is going to make this look like Lincoln Logs in comparison from all accounts
