Caesar III is way better

The problem with this game is that there is no room for artistry. You put up the same buildings, usually in the same order, and it doesn't much matter where. Games like "Civilization" have wonderful movies (showing, say, the blasting of a Titan rocket or the building of the pyramids) and require a great deal of strategy. Games like "Caesar III" allow you to feel as if you are actually presiding over a Roman City. Indeed, as you build your city, you have to balance every aspect of Roman life, from water resources to the worshipping of Gods. However, Age of Kings enjoys none of these dimensions. I have found that the one-player version (that I play)is simply more frustrating than fun. The messages from other kingdoms flash too quickly on the screen, the demands are outrageous, and then you get invaded by all three other kingdoms at once. And, unlike Caesar III, the stockpiling of resources in Age of Kings is simply dull.
The best Real Time Strategy Game I have Ever Played

I love Age of Empires II. It is easliy one of the greatest RTS's in gaming history. Every review I myself have read of this game had said it was incredable. I agree completly. A faboulous game, I recomend fans of the first Age of Empires to buy this right away, and get the expansion too. There are no words to describe how awesome this game is.
Some Details on the Game:
The greatest part about this game is what they added. There are now many more units, buildings, and technologies than in the last game. The finer additions to AOE II are the unique units, castles, and gates. Each civilization has a special unit that is actually a unit that exsited in that civilization. Take the Briton's logbowmen for example. The logbow archers were the elite archers in the army of england during that time period. The English were feared during the middle ages for the masses of longbow archers. An the Mongolian's spcial horse archers. The lightly armored horse archers was an innovative tactic actually used by Ghengis Kahn. He used it to conquer most of Eurpoe and Asia. So there is a lot of historical base to the game.
The addition of other units and gates has improved the game tremendously. Gates have made a full defense system possible and has change the way you have to win. no more charging with hordes of soldiers on an un-protectable town. Also, large amounts of catapults can no longer win you the game. The new ongers (as they are called) are defensless agains all but the slowest troops and must be guarded.
The gameplay is very simple and is almost exactly like AOE I. For new players, I suggest reading the manual, but you won't have any trouble figuring it out after that. But don't think this game is easy. The phrase "Practice makes perfect" really applys to this game. You develop winning strategies and a favorite civilization over time, but to get there you actually have to play the game. The campagins aren't great, but are still pretty fun. Regular matches are the best though. You can even play online against other players.
This game is an absolute must-have for all RTS fans. And even if you're just looking for a fun game, this is a good one for you too.

Age of Empires is better than other simulation games. Age of Empires 2 Age of the Kings has many features. You can play a Random game which allows you to chose how many players, who is your enemy, what color represents your empire, and what kind of land you want. In a Regicide, you do the same except have to [do away with] the king of the enemy empire to win. AOE Age of the Kings has the best campaigns like the William Wallace Campaign. In the History page you can find out the history from the Britons to the Vikings. Age of Empires represents a strong game. Only if a 3rd version would be made. If you have the game or thinking about buying it here are some cheat codes that may help you:
Before typing in the code click ENTER on your keyboard and then type it in
Cheese Steak Jimmy's- 1000 food
Robin Hood- 1,000 gold
rock on- 1,000 stone
lumberjack- 1,000 wood
aegis- Build buildings fast
how do you turn this on (must be spaced& not capitalized)- Cobra car that shoots
to smitthereens- a sabotuer that explodes
Hope you like the game! I like it so much I play it practically every day.
A fun and educational game!

Age of Empires II is a fun game, as well as educational. It's a lot like Pharaoh and Caesar III. You take control of different armies and conquerers, such as Ghengis Khan or Barbarossa. Though it may be difficult controlling huge armies at one time, you get use to it. Age of Empires II also has a different control interface that you need to get used to: left-click selects, right-click commands. Taunts are added to this game; they are mostly for fun. Some taunts are: "Raiding party!", "Nice town; I'll take it.", and "It is good to be the king." Overall, Age of Empires II is a great game. I recommend it to strategy game- lovers who are quick with their mouse.

I played Age of Empires and it was the best game I had played at the Time. Then came Age of Empires 2 I could not stop playing it when I finnaly got it. The Muliplayer is awsome and there are always people to play against. In Age of Empires1 you can only make one guy at a time and it got annoyining after a while in this game you can make up to 15 people at one building at a time.
I dont care if you don't have a computer just get it!
Great Game

I have played "Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings" for about three weeks and I am already addicted to it. The game is life-like, with voices for the different types of people, and has a good basis of the different ages. As you build buildings, you will be able to "advance" to the next age. With the new age you get more buildings, and can upgrade old buildings. If you're the cheating type-- you can find cheats to use, to make the game more fun (for me at least). The game has different campaigns or levels you can play. Some campaigns you might have to save a person, or rescue someone. The game all together is great. There is rarely any gore, no offensive language, just some cartoon violence- that is why it is rated for teens. The stories in the game, and graphics are great.
BUY THE GAME- YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!

I bought this game back almost a year ago and It's still challenging me to learn more about each civilization!! I love how each civilization is historically accurate down to their researchable technologies. How each one has its own set of warriors and buildings and a different set of tech. stuff to try out and use against you opponent.. I played it over the internet witha friend while she was in Germany and it was great being able to talk and play and kill each other all at the same time!! if you're looking for a great Thinking and strategy game this is it!! and the Multiplayer part is great too.
This is a great game

I can not add much to what others have said, but this game is one that will be fun long after others are sitting on the shelf. It is one of the few games that I like as much as my 10 year old son. It is well worth the money.

I cannot praise this game enough. The game hides a large degree of its inner complexity with an easy to use interface, a well written manual/on-line technology tree and finally a incredibly addictive styles of game play that make you begin to hate your clock when it eventually tells you that it's time to go to bed. :)
Great Historical Simulator

Being a fan of medieval history it is enjoyable to sit down to this game. I love the unique units for each civiliazation. AE2 is a definite improvement over the first. The best being the size ratio of buildings to units and one another. The 5 campaigns featuring some of the most dynamic leaders is an added bonus. This game is a must for history buffs and fans of strategy games.
