dont buy this game

This game was so vulgar. Very inappropriate. I thought it was a trivia game but all they do is call you names and say bad words. Don't waste your money.

Some improvements, Some not

The Ride is the most fast paced of the series, and it's been designed with a hip new look. A little more urban, a little more dangerous. The sleek design works especailly well if you're already familiar with the You Don't Know Jack games-- it works because it's a play on what came before and it's novel, but sometimes the graphics are just busy. The Jack Attack choices zip around the screen and they're distractinly hard to read.

The themed games are a fun change, but the down side is that you no longer have a choice of question categories. Choosing the category allows for some strategy and is much more fun than what has replaced it. Now you try to catch the largest dollar figure as the numbers spin by. They go too quickly to actually see and select one. I gave up and just hit the button and let a figure come up at random. I would like to see this improvement disappear in future episodes.

The new type of question-- Roadkill-- is great, fast paced and challenging. I miss the three ways from volume 3. I don't think there are any "impossible questions" in this volume either. Instead of getting rid of types of questions, I would like to see all of the games incorporate as many varieties as possible. Instead of having "gibberish questions" come up every time as they did in volume 1, some games would bring up three ways, some would bring up roadkill etc.

So while I liked the novelty of the theme shows, I think overall the random games are more fun to play because of the variety of possible questions and the ability to choose the category.

One nice touch in The Ride is that during the elevator rides, the "elevator operator" who chats with you reads the date and time from your computer and can say "good morning" or "why are you all alone on a Saturday night." I played the game by myself on February 14th and got a comment about playing computer games by myself on Valentines Day. Nice touch.

I Memorized Jack

The Jack series, overall, is one of .the. best trivia games I've ever played (and I've played a number in my time). Sadly, The Ride, while being a F'ing blast, falls short on the replay factory. You play a number of floors, but after you're run through the game once (it's set up in a linear fashion), you have to start over from the beginning, and all the questions are the same--I'm still working over games one and two, and despite having some questions appear multiple times, there are still new questions to discover.
There are extremely fun conventions in The Ride, only slightly taken down by the, usually fun, announcers' comments--they seem "snotty" in this version.
Overall, still a good purchase, but after the slap and tickle, there's no cuddling. I'm gonna go back to YDKJ2 and explore some more.

This one is definately the best of the Jack series, and if you're going to buy one this is it. The only problem is that with the themed shows there are only so many questions they can ask as opposed to the original Jacks where they just took the left over questions and asked them the next game. Plus, you can't choose your own category, it's totally random this time. Also, throughout the game there are hints that you're almost at "The Bottom" of the elevator. Let me give you a hint, there is no bottom. I got so ticked off at them for giving me a false reason to continue playing that I haven't bought another Jack product since.

YDKJ: The Ride breaks the mold of its predecessors with a whole new goth/techno look! New games like Roadkill (which is almost too similar to Jack Attack) and Jack Bingo are great. All of the hosts are back, but Buzz is only limited to a few cameos. The Elevator Lady also stars in the game, messing with your name and commenting on the time, day, etc. While some may not like the new look or the loss of choosing the category, YDKJ: The Ride is the best the series has had so far!

The best JACK yet.

JACK 4 is by far the best JACK made to date. Instead of picking a category, you have to quickly pick the highest dollar amount you can, then they tell you the category. Screwing has never been better. Instead of just forcing someone to answer the question, you force someone to answer after you blast the screen with screws and cover up the question. Roadkill is very similar to the Jack Attack - but a lot more fun and more difficult. Jack Bingo is great; you have to pick the first letter of the word they're giving you the clue to. And they still have 2 classics: Gibberish Question and Dis-or-Dat. I HATE GIBBERISH QUESTIONS, and JACK 4 didn't make me like them anymore. I love Dis-or-Dat, though. And Dis-or-Dat is really sweet when you get over $10,000 per question (I'm not joking). JACK 4 is more intense and way more competitive. And having only 13 questions is great because those 21 question games can feel like they're dragging on sometimes. Also, in JACK 1, 2, & 3, you kind of knew who was gonna win by the time you got to question 16 or 17. Not so in Jack 4. I was playing with my sister, and she racked up more points in one question then I did in the entire game. If you love JACK, you must get JACK 4.

I love this game! It's funny, up-to-date, and top-of-the-line. Only 13 questions as opposed to the previous versions' 21, but still a must-have!

Man, this is the best YDKJ game ever! I own vols. 1-3, YDKJ TV, Movies, and YDKJ Netshow and needless to say, The Ride beats em' all! I love the new features such as "Roadkill" and "Bingo." Hosts Cookie and Schmitty are my faves! The game's hilarity ensues further when Buzz (host of YDKJ vol.2) tries to make his way to the top to host the show. I'm looking forward to more YDKJ products in the future.

Some people thought that this would be the same Jack Game as all the others, one host and categories. But they were dead wrong. This YDKJ changed the entire universe of the game forever. New Question types include Roadkill, Jack Bingo, and a new way to screw your neighbor called FlakJack. Nate, Guy, Cookie, and Schmitty all host it at some point. Buzz is limited to being sent to the bottom countless times. Every game starts off with a Moral Dilemma question that whisked you to different episode "floors" in some Jack-topian high-rise. It's about as tall as the Empire State Building. The Jack Trivia Buiding, who ever thought of that?

Instead of just choosing a category, you now choose the VALUE, that's right, you heard correctly, of the question. It's the best jack ever! Ever!

This game, I cannot tell you how much joy it has brought to my life. I started off with YDKJ TV because I am a TV buff (I'd like to think) and then as soon as I did every possible question in that series I saw they came out with a You Don't Know Jack THE RIDE, and I said to myself..random trivia could be interesting. I did not KNOW what I had in store for myself. This game is nothing compared to Vol. 1, 2, 3, Sports, TV, Movies, Offline, Louder! Faster! Funnier! (I've played them all), the nice people over at Jellyvision seemed to have hit a high note on this one. The RIDE is the epitome of what all the Jack games should represent; Funny, inventive, and different from the previous Volumes. I would buy this game for anyone who loves to laugh and be challenged with great trivia. I already bought THE RIDE for a friend and he hasn't stopped thanking me! This game is wonderful.
