You Don't Know Jack: The Ride is, to anyone familiar with the others, both similar and different. Similar in that the same slightly off-humor-yet-intellectually-stimulating manner continues, different because of the game setup. Thirteen-question "shows" of a (loosely) related topic make up each game, and references to questions answered before are common, giving it a strange sense of continuity. Not every topic is a hit, but it's still pretty good. And while the humor is definately "adult," that's not necessarily the same as "obscene." In fact, the fine line between sarcasm and hostility is danced upon so often it makes for a fresh dose of comedy each play. New games--"Bingo" and "Roadkill" are also surprisingly fresh. (Though I liked the Threeways from Jack 3, which are not included; apparently the only person who enjoyed them was me.) I also miss the fiber optic field trips, which are also missing. But these might only clog up the game, which is smooth and clear. The graphics and sound are simple yet pleasing, and the cycling-host concept was played up to an enjoyable level. About the only gripe i have is the score selection process, where different values and categories flip quickly pass, and its two shades away from random what you end up with. I enjoyed picking my own topic in the old games. To veterans, The Ride offers something different, not necessarily better or worse. If you enjoyed the other games, you'll enjoy this. Even if you felt like the formula was getting tired by YDKJ3, this might pick you up again. For those who have never played this before, it's worth buying to find out, though picking up a cheap copy of YDKJ1 in the bargain bins first might save you some cash. I doubt it, though; it's an addictive franchise.

Great for anyone who loves 'Jack'

I've liked Jack ever since the first one. Recently (last Easter) I got the Irreverent Collection for my birthday and this was included in it. I could tell it was a different Jack from the moment I saw the cover with the upside down Jack. Since I got and installed it on Easter, I was in for a surprise- when I started playing the game, it wished me a happy Easter and informed me that that was one of the many cookies the programmers had put into the game. I thought that was pretty damn cool. It's more fast paced, gritty and lots and lots of fun.

Most different in the JACK family, The best one.

YDKJ4 The Ride is a great example of gaming, it solves old problems that the previous games had such as looping questions, and keeps the game still true to it's roots and feel of sarcastic, no holds barred trivia that will keep anybody entertained. Old question types are gone (no impossable question :-( ) But there are some new ones such as the RoadKill which is the best one now. There are easter eggs galore in this game and it is IMPOSSIBLE to find them all in the first go through. Replay value is high as well as the fun. The game is at a good low price for you to get a hold of, and not make you lose your shirt. If you like biting comedy and wild trivia, this is a MUST! One last piece of advice--when you eventually get to the bottom, that ending 2 option, save it for last, and I'm not saying why.

This game was so vulgar. Very inappropriate. I thought it was a trivia game but all they do is call you names and say bad words. Don't waste your money.

This one is definately the best of the Jack series, and if you're going to buy one this is it. The only problem is that with the themed shows there are only so many questions they can ask as opposed to the original Jacks where they just took the left over questions and asked them the next game. Plus, you can't choose your own category, it's totally random this time. Also, throughout the game there are hints that you're almost at "The Bottom" of the elevator. Let me give you a hint, there is no bottom. I got so ticked off at them for giving me a false reason to continue playing that I haven't bought another Jack product since.

I tell you these games just get better and better, the themes are a defenite improvement although be careful if you plan to play this on a mac system the play can get jerky....other than that a great game indeed.
