Frustrating interface, no plot.

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 31 / 41

I wouldn't know how the ending is because the interface is so frustrating and the plot is so lame that I have decided to abandon the game without completing it. The interface combines the poor resolution of Doom with the you-can-only-stand-in-certain-places of Myst. To call this game "3D" is false advertising. Panning around a 2D picture does not make a 3D environment.

I could flame for pages about the poor interface, but I'll just say DOS 1.0 was more user-friendly, and leave it at that.

Likewise, I can not flame the plot because there was none. The "puzzles" were something like this: Guess a number between 1 and 1000. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope...

There's a reason this game is cheap. Think about it.

Morpheus: A World Where Dreams Never Die

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 25 / 35

Morpheus:A World Where Dreams Never Die by Piranah. Should havebeen: A world where dreams never die because you will be eternallyasleep through most of this game. Oh, except of course, for the many and badly placed disc changes. For example, in one crucial part of the game you have to travel back and forth retrieving an item and between each trip you get to change your CD twice. Making it a total of 10 disk changes for one puzzle. Sound fun yet? It's Clue meets Titanic meets Myst.

If you like real-life cinematics and bad acting to boot, you'll just love this game. Although, I must say the animators did an excellent job. Besides it's beautiful animation and sound it was a tedious and non-challenging. Like most games of this caliber, you usually have an inventory where you carry items around, which, makes the puzzles more difficult to figure out. Instead it's a click and find atmosphere--where the puzzles become so obvious at times, that the game is over in half the time of it's competiors games. And how could I forget to mention my novel--oh uh I mean notepad for the clues. 90 percent of the puzzles require a photographic memory or the use of a notepad, so don't forget to stock up on scratch paper before you buy Morpheus.

Let's talk about the ending too. Did you ever wake up from a bad dream and it was all just an illusion?

Need I say more. END

Disappointing Graphics and Acting

I won this game as a prize at work, and having been a fan of games like Myst and Bad Mojo, I thought it looked promising. What I found was a game that has a poor 3-D graphics engine (it can only be run full screen at 640 x 480 pixels at a maximum of 16-bit color) and awful acting by the game characters. The puzzles are mildly entertaining, but having to swap disks repeatedly (there are 3 discs that make up this game) takes a lot away from the flow.

I found the story interesting, but the terrible overacting by the actors in the game ended up making much of it seem really cheesy.

If you are looking for a game with better graphics, and a much more engaging story along similar lines as Morpheus, get System Shock 2. It's a much better game.

I give it three stars for the story, but only one star for the acting, graphics and gameplay. Total, 2 stars.

OK for the price

A beautifully rendered, but strange and wasteful tale. I bought Morpheus because it was inexpensive and the type of game I love. But I was quickly plunged into a muddled, strange and frankly, uninteresting plot involving a bunch of awful people that deserved their awful fates.

After perservering through several pointless and not-very-tricky puzzles, you discover that everyone gets what they deserve. And, from the original days of Myst, we're used to a slight let-down at the end, as a movie-ette wraps up the final details of our long ordeal, but Morpheus just leaves you wondering - did the programmers know what happened to our heros?

Morpheus is cheap but worth it?

I bought Morpheus allured by the cheap price. But in the first day of play i went online and downloaded as many cheats as possible because the game was too frustrating for me. The puzzles just didn't make sense. Then I bought Myst shortly after and had a blast without the headache. Morpheus was a few days of fun but in my opinion just spend a little more and get Myst or Riven.

Kinda so-so

I wouldn't say this is a bad game, but I found it pales in comparison to Myst, etc. Somehow, the logical connections between actions aren't all there. That is, there is no comprehensive set of rules to the game--an action taken in one place may have an effect that doesn't seem to follow at all, but you just have to accept it and move on.

In addition, the puzzles here are disappointingly easy. This game is an amusing diversion, but if you're looking for the kind of immersing experience that Myst and Riven gave you, look elsewhere.

A fun game with pretty good graphics and not too difficult.

As a mom who doesn't have hours on end to play a game, I liked this one. It saved your place, exactly where you were. There was no gore, a mildy interesting plot, and came together nicely as the puzzles were solved. The ending was a bit of a let down (aren't they always?). I only wish I could have roamed a bit further around the ship. A few more false leads makes things interesting.

Beautiful Graphics - Terrible Acting - Big Letdown!

At first this game seemed intriguing and mysterious, really complex - but that's only on the surface. There is no complexity, the puzzles are the game! I love adventure games, however, I haven't found any yet that will challenge me intellectually. The puzzle solving just doesn't do it for me. I would like to see a game that presents a better story, a true mystery where one would unravel a real story not just puzzles. The end is such a dissapointment - remember Dallas, when Victoria Principle wakes up from a dream and finds that Bobby never really died? Well this is just as bad. It's a shame because the graphics are good and the different worlds are so interesting and intrigueing. And that's all they are, teasers with no true substance and a really lame ending.

The Strangest Journey

Wow, I really don't know what to say about Morpheus (Does anyone even know why it was called that? The ship was the Herculania?!)It was a little too sci-fi for me. Some of the puzzles were too contrived and at times it was extremely frusterating because I had no clue what was going on. I just didn't know what to do! Belle, Billy and Grace's worlds were great, but Leo's was too strange, and poor Muffy! (Muffy's tag was found at the butchers. Guess why it was found and Muffy was not.) The graphics were luscious, but all togher, I'm not sure if it was worth my money. Would I recommend this game? Well, not to anyone with XP, for me, it didn't work too well. After reading the raving review from JustAdventure, I was positive that I would enjoy it, but after playing it, I'm positive that I would have rather wasted my time on something else. I wanted a game with a ship, not sure why, but I did. Titanic Adventure Out Of Time was more my price range, but I now see the error of my ways. If you like Adventures, try some worth-while ones like Syberia, Beyond Atlantis 2 or The Longest Journey! Spare yourself!

Not Very Interesting

The graphics of this game were very good. However, this is one of the only strong features about this game. The story line had so much potential, but was enacted in a very lame fasion. The dream sequences good have been a lot better, and if there was a climax, I missed it. The puzzles were not very challenging, and the ending was weak. I would spend my money elsewhere.
