Great Disappointment

This is a terribly put together game. If you have high expectations for this after playing GTA3, then you'll be very disappointed. It's one of those games that you play for 5 minutes and realize that it doesn't have any potential at all. The missions are very repetitive and the camera is horrible. The shock value wears off in literally 4 minutes flat. If you're considering this one, I strongly recommend renting it first before committing 50 ones to it.

The first thing that i would like to say is if you are under the age of 18, do not play this game (you won't be able to buy it anyways).
When i first got it, i had such high intentions afterall GTA 3 is probably one of the top 3 best games ever. Most people have not even played the game who are posting messages...

Gameplay-5: Fun for the first little bit, but then it's so repetitive that you really get sick of the game. Going around killing everything in site the same way for a long time is boring...funny at first, but then very boring
Sound-5: GTA had great tunes for everyone....This has your lame basic video game music
Graphics-8: Have to grade kind of high here just because it's amazing how they can have so many different characters on the screen at once

First couple hours-7: Fun, but kind of dissapointing because it's not what you expected

Do not buy this game! You've probably heard the hype, "it's made by Rockstar games, the people who did GTA3".

This game blows. There are 4 levels (in the entire game) each the size of a very small quake 1 multiplayer map, with graphics that look downright PS1-ish.

The gameplay [is terrible], the missions consist of running to the opposite side of the room to pick something up, and bring it back. yay. it takes about 30 seconds for a mission.

Don't get this one.

This game is the kind that makes a strong case for piracy.

State of Emergency should be another sure fire hit from Rockstar games. It is non stop chaos and violence, and certainly isn't appropriate for young gamers. This game kind of reminded me of a 3D Smash TV, but the difference is, you can blow up store fronts, and cars in the parking garage, and you have a wide assortment of cool weapons, meanwhile running around in a large 3D environment.

SOE is a little repetitive at times, but it is easily a game that you can fire up, and play for 15 - 20 minutes and get plenty of enjoyment out of, especially when you don't have an hour or two to invest in a game. This game is no where near as deep as Grand Theft Auto III, and its not supposed to be.

SOE is a fun little 3D shooter/beat em up with no other quest other than kill or be killed. The graphics are great, and overall its a pretty fun game. I have a good time with it, and I think you will too!

Recommended!!

I should have rented before I bought. The graphics aren't that great, the levels are tiny, and the missions are just busy work. Clearly, they had different objectives for this title from GTA3, but in the end, this is just less fun. Keep your money.

Decent Game

State of Emergency is another Rockstar game. And if you like the violent content in their other games, you'll most likely enjoy this game without even knowing its quality. Yes, State of Emergency has the blood, the fighting and everything else you want, including chopping off heads and shooting civilians in the head. If you're expecting GTA 3.5 though, your going to be disappointed. Its not. Take the street brawling part of Grand Theft Auto III, and maximize it 100x. There you have State of Emergency. It has decent, unorganized gameplay, which varies by each of the 5 characters in the game. You fight the evil corporation who is treating the city unfairly, by showing them you won't obey them. This game really isn't too bad when you think about it. If I'm mistaken, I think you can turn the blood off, so without that, this is a decent game for teens even! The graphics are fine, no complaints. But the game's missions do get repetetive. There are like 5 different kinds of missions, and 185 in all. If you don't really care, then you'll love this game. The sound is barely noticable, so that doesn't matter, becuase it doesn't effect the gameplay, but it would be cool like if you could hear a speaker in the mall or something. The camera angles are good but they need babysitting, you need to press RI to drag it behind you sometimes. Overall, the game isn't too bad, but its just really unorganized. You will enjoy it for a few weeks though.

this game is a rental. dont buy it, rent it. its a lot of fun at first, but the missoins are very repetitve. i was very dissapointed, and i sold it to a friend 2 days after i bought it, i ripped him off.

It's cool better than vice city or GTA 3

I prefer this game than GTA 3 or vice city. Vice city was cool but not better than this. I would give vice city 4 stars. If you think that because you can't get in cars or have money,it's [wrong],well i'll tell you something:IT DOESN'T MATTER! The reason you don't get those things is because you don't need them! Why would you need cars or money? All you need to do is to free the city from the [darn] corporation not steal cash or money. You can also fool around in the streets. (It's really fun). It also has awsome graphics and cheats! I'll tell you invicibility cheat:while playing,press L1,L2,R1,R2,X. And want another one? ok. Mission skip:while playing,press left,left,left,left and triangle. Well that's all.

It is like they thought if they make it as bloody and violent as they could it would sell...and I guess they are right. Once you get past the fact that you can mow down a crowd with a AK 47 or chop someone's head off or break their leg and arm there is not much to this game. It plays like this...walk around beating/shooting/stabbing...gangs and the police/corporation and doing silly missions like escorting characters, killing heavily armed/protected business men and things of that nature. You cannot drive ANYTHING...The weapons are pretty cool, as is the fighting action...but the story and actual depth of the game is not all that at all...GTA3 was 100% better...RENT IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT!

When i rented SoE, it was quite an experience. seeing so many people on one screen with no slow downs was amazing. while the missons sounded cool, (protect stores, destroy buildings, guide people to safe houses.) they kept popping out in later missions. But another down side was i was playing the game so much, i beat the game in 2 days. To sum everything up, its fast paced action yet ends quickly.
