Great game, except for the jumping puzzle.

This game is really good except for a jumping puzzle that made me want to through my computer out the window. The force powers are unique and add a new dimension to the first person shooter.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is a first person shooter. It is one of the best star wars game i have ever played with an excellent single player and multiplayer gameplay. The story you play kyle katran who has to save the valley of the jedi. The single player gameplay is excellent with superlative level design, The levels are very long, very hard and very fun to get through. The first few levels are not that great but once you have the force powers and the lightsaber the game becomes very intresting. The force powers are very fun and great. The puzzles are great and very hard solve. This is one of the best single player games i have played in recent times. Jk2 is built on the quake3 engine and the graphics and sound are excellent. I played the game on the OpenGL video mode and the game runs great. But unlike other quake3 games like Rtcw and Mohaa the quick loading is not instant. Jedi Knight II is the best star wars game ever, It is not to be missed action game.

My first Star Wars games was X-Wing. It was awesome. Then I played Tie-Fighter, it was just as awesome (I'm an Empire myself so enjoy being evil). After those two I was very disappointed with the rest of them. None of them could meet up then Dark Forces came out. I played the demo then played a friend's. It was awesome. It was Doom, but with something good. Then I heard about Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. That was even more fun then first one. It became my all-time favorite first person shooter (which eventually tied with Star Trek: Voyager: Elite Force). But Jedi Knight II: Outcast, is by far the ultimate again. It's a first person shooter (although it later levels I almost always used the light saber and force powers) that beat anything and it was based in the Star Wars Universe (Expanded Universe for the book fans (recommend Timothy Zahn books)).
They did release a patch which helped with some problems. The only drawback to this game, the price. But like all software it will go down in price, eventually. If you like shoot-em-ups, get this. If you like Star Wars, get this. If you don't own a computer, buy one, then get this.

I own the Collector's Edition of this game- and boy, am I glad that I got it. Along with the original Dark Forces and Jedi Knight, I also received a cool looking light-up lightsaber keychain.

As for the game itself- overall, it's a masterpiece. The gameplay is filled with fun lightsaber, guns and force power action. Yeah, the puzzles could be a bit more varied, but they're not that hard as others have claimed. The graphics- man, one of the smoothest that I have seen. The plot will keep driving you till the end. I haven't played MP over the net, but with bots- it's not so bad... Of course- the music and sound is top notch. With guess appearances by Lando (voiced by Billy Dee Williams himself!) and Luke (yeah, you get to fight along side them), this game really is top of the line.

Is it as revolutionary as Half-Life or Deus Ex? In short, no. But, it's pretty good in terms of capturing the movies and going just a little bit beyond.

Great Star Wars game for a change.

Well, it's taken them years to make a game that's back on the par they set at X-Wing and TIE Fighter, but Lucasarts finally did it. If you are a Star Wars fan, a First Person Shooter fan, or both, get this game. It's definately a challenge from level 1, with puzzles being by no means simple throughout. The lightsaber fighting system is very well developed and complex enough to let you really have a duel. Moreover, the multiplayer is as good as CounterStrike. All in all, this is going to be the best Star Wars game until Knights of the Old Republic comes out. Definately a good buy.

Become a Jedi? Heck yeah!

Jedi Knight II is a really fun game. The story is interesting, the characters are good, the graphics are nice enough (how exciting can corridors really get?), and the structure of the game keeps the player involved from start to finish. As a Star Wars fan, I can hardly imagine a more exciting premise for a game than becoming a Jedi, which is exactly what you do in Outcast. I know I'll be waiting in line for JK III to come out next year!

As a side note, this is the first "serious" computer game I've played. I'd previously believed myself to be incapable of the kind of eye-hand coordination necessary for this sort of thing, but I learned pretty quickly how to get around in Jedi Knight II and I look forward to applying those skills to other games.

Oh--and listen to what the storm troopers say. They're hillarious.

You haven't lived 'till you play this awesome game.

...So I read the reviews for both games only to find people liked Star Wars more. I bought this game and I haven't stopped playing. The multiplayer is awesome and the missions are so breath-taking... If you like to play PC games I reccomend this game to EVERYONE...

Dark Forces was that game with all choppy graphics and had no lightsaber. Then came Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. The same horrible graphics as Dark Forces. Actually, not much different except new weapons. Then came Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. When my cousin bought it, I went to play it. It was the best game I've ever played on the PC. The choppy graphics had been totally upgraded so you can see clearly as if it was real life. So I went home and downloaded the demo, available from LucasArt's official site. I played it almost every day all through spring and summer and now it's December 2002 and I'm still playing it! Plus, Dark Forces and Jedi Knight had NO CHEAT CODES!! Now, Jedi Outcast has some of the best cheats in the world. I know almost every one. There's even one to change the color of your lightsaber! It's totally a must-have. Remember--avoid the two old ones.

The single player for this game is good. There are many parts in it where a walkthrough, or a friend who has already done it, is almost necessary. But as soon as you beat the single player, thats it. I saw no reason to touch the game again. Because the multiplayer is bad.

The multiplayer is a test to find out who has figured out how to use lightning and who hasnt. As soon as you set your configuration to the dark side and set lightning as a hotkey, all you have to do to win is hold in that button.
