My bff has a ps2 and she got this game. We played it and now we always play it in our spare time. She's always saying how sphinx is SOO hot. She accidentally clicked new game instead of load game, so we had to start over, but that's our fault. My favorite part/level is when we are playing King Tut when he is about 12, you get to find some cool secret passages but he ends up getting mummified by his selfish, evil, and hideous brother. I love this game!!
Why don't more people know about this game?

This is a great game, one of my favorites. It's incomprehensible to me that it's not more popular. My major complaint is that the ending really doesn't finish the story, it really needs a sequel. None seems to be forthcoming, though. Story line is Egyptian themed, and it has a unique way of switching from the Sphinx and Mummy and two different modes of gameplay. Although the storyline is different, I think gameplay has a lot in common with the first Jak and Daxter (which in my opinion was the best one in the series). Actually, I think it's more varied and interesting. Maybe that's why my 9 year old son found gameplay a little more difficult. It wasn't very repetitive.
For some reason a very popular graphics style nowadays is the dark, dreary style. It makes me laugh when people say these types of games have such great graphics. 10,000 different shades of gray doesn't do it for me. Not so for the Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. The graphics are rich and beautiful (PS2).
As for the lack of voice, I found it a little disconcerting at first, and certainly they could have really ramped up it's appeal if they had vocals, but what the heck, it ultimately didn't make much difference. I think it's great they got it out in any format. Some of these "big production" games are pretty lame anyway.
The issue with saving the game in certain places was kind of a pain, but to me, it made it more interesting. It was really neat in the sense that it was completely integrated into the playing of the game. If I ever got to the mummy (where you can save only at the beginning of the sequence), I would save or go ahead depending on what time I had left to play. So, generally speaking, a little planning is all that takes.
The game is not too hard, a couple of places we had to look up what to do next on an on-line game faqs.
In closing, a super game; great execution, superior storyline, wonderful graphics, imaginative gameplay.

This baby would be Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. From the beginning you would see the simularities of both parents, the cartoonish design of Rachet and Clank, the climbing and sphincter tighting jumps, climbs and falls familiar with POP. (And the Sphinx even looks like a combination of both!) That's where the simularities end. Like with every child, the take the best from both parents and do their own thing. This game is a pretty good child, keeps you entertained and is bright and colorful, even in the areas that are supposed to be dark and gloomy (like the cursed palace and dungeons). This child is easy to control, all the buttons are straight forward, and several can be programed for different actions. But it can also lead you to frustration, not from any bugs in programming, there are really none that I saw, but from some of the mini-games and trying to hit hanging lamps. There are no need to worry about weapon or armor upgrades, the sword and shield that you start out with is powerful enough to finish the game. The few bosses are extremely easy to kill, several hits usually do it. All in all, this game is very good and far more well worth the low price that it is currently going for! (19.99) Unfortunatly there's not much replay value so enjoy it while you can.
Great Game.....But........

This is an overall great game! The game starts off pretty slowly, but once you get the hang of it, it will move along much faster. The graphics are great, the charaacters are great, but there stlill is a down-side. The characters do not talk, only little subtitled words come out at the bottom, saying what the characters are trying to say. The other bad part about this game, is that there are these statues where you are supost to save your game. And, lets say you are in a very important part, and only have one life left, and you didnt go to one of those statues, you have to go all the back to where you firts saved. But, overall, I give this game two thumbs up!

there is really nothing at all wrong with this game. i would have given it 5 stars, but i'm saving that incase someone ever puts out a perfect game. if i had to complain about anything in regards to sphinx, it would be that it's a little on the easy side, but then, if you drink a lot of beer while playing it like i do, it will make some of the puzzle solving a bit more challenging. i was pretty drunk during a lot of it, and so some levels seemed kind of hard, but then the next day it would seem kind of easy again. overall, a lot of fun. a lot of people say there is little replay value, but i just beat the game last week and i'm already looking forward to playing it again. if you like to kill knivescats with swords and capture slim burbles, you'll really like this experience, because you'll be doing a lot of it. be sure to save a lot of scarabs and buy yourself 2 rats at the monster store, too. and if you have trouble finding the 5th herb, try looking near the canal, up by the swinging rope. trouble with the obstacle course? don't give up!! it's the only way to get the goofy lizard. this game will have you up late drinking and yelling at the tv all night long.
THE COOLEST GAME IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is soooooooooooooooooooooooo good!!!!!!!. It is a lot like the n64 game zelda. It is also very challenging. You have to use your head a lot! This game involves a lot of thinking and comprhending, but anyone will love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is only one thing that I do not like about it. You can't just save whenever You want to. You have to make it to certain "save spots" that are located throughout the game. They are in the form of statues. All in all, this game rules and I highly recommend it to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved it!

Shynx and the Cursed Mummy is a very fun, yet challenging game. Not to mention funny.
Romping through Ancient Egypt and re-killing mummies, always geta a little tiresome, so the Mummy is thrown in there for a little spice; the icing on the cake, if you will. The mummy is very funny, not to mention Clumsy.
Sphynx is the ultimate hero, tall dark and deadly. This game is so much fun. THQ you've mad a huge hit.
This game is so challenging, it's full of puzzles, you have to open doors and stuff to fight a huge zombe in the end.
Overview:
Fun- 10/10 A lot of Fun, very funny.
Gameplay- 10/10 Just right, controls aren't too simple, arent too hard
Difficulty- 11/10 It's hard to conquer te leve.
Graphics- 10/10 Great Graphics
Overally: 41/40
This game is more than perfect, it's the right amount of challenge and adventure mixed with the right amount of mind-games and comedy. This game is a must for you're christmas stocking. Buy or Rent this game, it's worth every penny and worth every minute played. This game is TOO much fun to play, you need this game.
All those parents out there shopping for their kids for christmas, check out these games too, (Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, Rachet and Clank: Going Commando, Rachet and Clank (the first one) Jak2, Tak and the power of JuJu.)
Very cool puzzle solving, but a few small irritations...

Very cool game! Starts very slow, but then grows on you as you go. Lots of puzzle solving, so if this is your thing, you'll probably like this game. Now, the irritating parts about the game: 1. "Loading, loading, loading...", numerous, slow loading points between transitions, 2. No autosave, and no way to save at arbitrary points -- many times must exit sub-world and run back to save point..very inconvenient, 3. annoying slow captions rather than voice-over...not a big deal, but would be nice if could either accelerate or skip over dialogue, especially ones you've already seen about 10 times!
