ghost recon 3 is as good as the originals if not better. lots of people dont like it and i dont know why, its Just Like The ORIGINALS!!. this version has awsome features and great new weapons. i think it has a little bit of a weak plot but awsome gameplay.

Loved the previous Ghost Recon games but this one is quite different and incredibly frustrating. I am currently trying to get to the next checkpoint for a Save and must have tried at least 50 times now. Each time have been killed and Game Overed. Then the hugh load time. Also had to get a new graphics board just to get the thing to play. I don't even feel the graphics are any great advance over the previous Ghost Recons. The problem with no Saves is really bad. You can spend an hour or two meticulously working your way toward the next checkpoint and at the last moment get blown away and you have to start all over again. Agree the squad are a bunch of lobotomized death-wishing goof balls that like to run into a hail of bullets while you watch aghast and virtully powerless. The fact that you can see what they see is interesting for about 3 seconds but useless since you can't get them to do anything about it. Basically, it may take me a few years to get through this game as I can't set aside the time to go through every level dozens of times by virtue of the lack of Save feature. Actually, I doubt I will ever finish it. Ugh, a real disappointment.

Pretty but broken

The good:

- Great looking game.
- Big maps.
- Pretty explosions.

The bad:
- The AI is wretched. Your "advanced warfighters" can't navigate stairs and walk backwards towards the enemy. The tanks in particular are suicidal. They get hung on move orders, so they think they can't move there (where "there" is about 10 feet away). While hung they won't fight, so they will just sit there and get pounded by enemy tanks.
- Lots of bugs, even with the latest patch. It crashes all the time and it just corrupted one of my save games. I was going to hold off writing a review till I beat it, but I'm done with this piece of crap.
- No quick saves, so you have to fight three squads of entrenched, machine gun supported enemies between checkpoints. God forbid you kill the first two squads and then get nailed by a sniper on the last squad.

More realistic than the other Ghost Recons

GRAW2 or GR3 is the best because it does NOT allow stupid fantasy crap like jumping into other squad members or controlling other squads- you must fight just you and your squad. You can plot out several moves and attack with Recon and Attack modes then execute all and go with your squad.

Also, you can get shot a couple of times and keep going but if it's in the head or a machine gun burst (not rifle) you are dead. Also, if you don't use cover you won't get through- just like reality, you don't run into the open and stand there firing your weapon, would you? There are times when you must have a ZEUS or grenades to get past a section so kit up when you set your squad.

Awesome.

Not as good as the first ones, but not THAT bad

Most of the crux of other reviewers complaints re load times, inflexibility, checkpoint save system, AI relative stupdity etc. are true. The game in and of itself is not that bad though, it simply is very poor in comparison to the originals, which had few if any of these problems. I paid $[...] plus shipping with an Amazon partner - was it worth that? All day long...

No savegames, just (sometimes) impossible checkpoints. Team AI just plain stupid at times. I find the game very frustrating. I was an avid Ghost Recon fan, until this version was released.

Go for the graphics!

My husband loves it - can't tell you why, but the graphics look great.

Maps and Multiplay

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 2

On with the multiplayer experience:
I've spent quite a good chunk of playtime trying out all weapons, getting used to them, their recoil, RoF & their Mods. Honestly, all weapons are viable. While some may fit your play style better (I'm in love with the sniper and Scar-H+FG), they're all really good options. You can take down a sniper from a far distance with the "basic" rifle, you just better aim right and duck his shot. Grenades (G-Launcher mod too) and smokes also provides really good support for ambushes and tactical defenses.

While you can go on your own and try to tackle everything solo, I've really enjoyed tagging with other guys, rolling around with squads of 3 to 4 guys and steamrolling enemies while gaining more and more territory. I felt like playing as a team really made a big impact. I've seen squads of 5-6 guys ambushing my team's starting location and literally holding half of our team in the spawning location for quite a while with grenades, smokes, snipers and good cover. It provided them enough time to take over more than 3/4 of the map, with only 5-6 guys... it was amazing what time work can achieve is this game.

Maps:
At the moment, other than for the Co-Op mode, there's only 5 maps available. Ubi said they would implement more maps for multiplayer, which most likely will be implemented in the "mega-june patch" as it has been dubbed. Moving along...... right now there's a few maps that are really sweet, open for sniping, good coverage and sweet CQB zones. Then there's the other maps, like the warehouse. Everybody's camping, nobody wants to go grab the middle zones except the few crazy guys that runs up middle, throwing 'nades left and right and nuking with the nade launcher.

I'm really hoping the new maps from the mega patch will be a mix of everything instead of an open wide area filled with campers. If they don't manage to pull something sweet, well there will always be the map editor that's coming in the upcoming patch or the next. Well actually the map editor is available you just gotta tweak a bit to get to it.

PC lives up to hype

Okay, so I haven't had a lot of time playing this game, but from what I have played at a friend's house, this game seems very close in graphics and gameplay to that of the Xbox 360 version. I like the 360 version better in many ways. Mostly, however, I just have a hard time with the controls of PC games. Other than that though, I also like the OTS view and the First Person reticule views found in the 360 version also.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for the PC is just that. It is a military (war) first person shooter with many "advanced" technologies involved. The single player campaign in this game is a lot of fun to play and you'll find yourself getting very involved in the game. The graphics are very good and when you see this game running smoothly, it's definitely a site to see. The environments in the missions are very big, so you will certainly spend a good amount of time playing through each one. I found this to be a very good thing especially with so many games being release these days that can be beat so quickly, under 7 hours. One thing I noticed, however, is that the AI is a bit, strange. Sometimes, the enemies seemed to be extremely hard and played like and actual person was controlling them. Yet other times they almost ran into the bullets. Overall, the game's AI was much better than worse, so it's not that big of a problem. In this game, you also control 3 other ghosts (soldiers) on your team and can give them many different commands. You can also just set them to pretty much think on their own, which again is slightly good and bad. They sometimes play great, and other times get themselves into trouble. My time with this game is mostly all positive and is definitely a buy for those out there capable of playing this game on their PC. There is also a multiplayer mode for those with this game with 5 maps available at this time. There are supposed to be more to come soon, something that fans of the game are definitely looking forward to.
