Great fun with just a few problems

This game is a lot of fun, challenging but not overly difficult like some games, and has a whole lot of different, varied levels to keep the experience exciting. Only a few of the levels are actually in the Castle, and that's probably good because it would get boring quickly if they all were set there. I'm not sure I like the first person perspective though. It works fine, and you get used to it, but it really made me quite dizzy after playing for a while due to the close up perspective and the heightened sense of movement that it results in. Also there are some really unbelievable glitches. I recall one where there is an enemy soldier on the other side of a window looking right out at you as you stand right in front of him, and he doesn't see you. (And no, it's NOT a one way window!) But I'm really enjoying the game nevertheless.

A formidable update to ID Software's Wolfenstein 3D

Upon first playing Return To Castle Wolfenstein, I expected a fantastical shooter full of Quake/Doom-like enemys with the swastika insignia all over them. That would have been OK, but this time around ID has taken a more realistic approach. For most of the game, you'll feel like you're playing Medal Of Honor. There are still fictional elements present, like zombies, mutants, and Nazi cyborgs...but it's kept to a reasonable level. The controls are about the same as most first person shooters as of recently, and the graphics can hold their own with the competition (despite the occasional slow-down during heavy fire-fights). The textures in the walls and ground all look appropriate, and the level designs are well crafted (some areas are based on actual towns in Germany). As with most games ID puts out though, the story falls short toward the end. The first few cut-scenes set the stage for a dramatic story, but the ending boss battle and epilogue feel unclimactic. Another disappointment is the absence of a multiplayer mode...you'll have to the get the X-Box version for that. Overall, Wolfenstein is a pretty decent buy if you like first person shooters. As far as multiplayer modes and customization go though, I have to recommend Timesplitters 2 or Halo instead.

Its cool.

Just to note, this game is a First Person Shooter, if you don't like this sort of game don't buy it.

This game reminds me of the old James Bond Golden Eye on the Nintendo 64 (which I loved) execpt with new things to do and is alot more fun. You are Agent Burkowitz, an Agent of Britain and America to infultrate Germany and find out about Hilter's plans and control of the supernatural in use of army warfare.

You get alot of cool weapons and has a good story line. Something for a fan of War Games or First Person Shooters.

Fun but problem with the controllers

Fun game but the controllers are not what I expected them to be. If you're not picky about the controllers like the aim and shot style then go ahead and buy this game but if you're like me look into something else.

The only flaw is the graphics...(by the way im 15)

Ok, I got this game in 2002 at my brothers holy communion and i played it for hours trying to figure out the first friggin mission. When I couldnt figure out where to go I put it back in the case and hadnt played it in years. well a few nights ago I was sitting in my basement bored out of my mind, and this is the only game I havent beat out of thirty two games, so I plopped it in and was instantly addicted to it. You play as a guy named B.J. Blacwitz an OSA officer for the Allies in WWII, and your mission is to figure out what the Nazi's are doing in Egypt. Well it turns out that the Nazi's are trying to build an army of Zombies to help Hitler dictate the world. Well it also turns out that Hitler wants scientists to create a new kind of hell. X-Creatures. An X-Creature is pretty much a Zombie mixed with a bloody deformed man alien thing... it's sickening really... But anyway it's a great storyline and will keep you wondering What the hell's in the next room. the graphics arent too bad but environments weapons and zombies need to be more detailed, but hey come on in 2002 PS2 just came out and was discovering new graphical detail. So like I said the only flaw is the graphis.

This game made me physically sick.

First let me say I haven't played the PC version of this game, just the PS2.

--
Starting out in this game, I felt like I'd actually been transported back into the times of Doom 1 and Wolfenstein 3d.

This is because the graphics are horrible and outdated, I've seen better games on PS1.

The controls and unability to easily look around also make you very seasick, very quickly.

Buy this game if you really need to get the feeling of original Wolfenstein. Except this time, you will need motion sickness pills.

Awesome Game!

This game is a-w-e-s-o-m-e! But wow, is it short. I feel a little ripped off for paying about $50 for just a few weeks of play. But maybe it's just that I was so addictive to the game.
This is an awesome WWII-based game! The characters are... "alive" yet I still want more action! But the game is realy worth your time. Don't rent it. BUY IT

It can get boring at times "yeah i said it!"
