I absolutly love this game. it hase a very good sense of humor and um.....how do I say it;very different gameplay. by different I mean fun because it's hard to mix platforming and shooter gameplay,but they did it. I am not sure who came up with"Courtney gears" but that's hilarious. I like the fact that there are lots of differnt guns (the decimator is my fav)and most are useful. How do I explain the multiplayer, it's so fun but kind of annoying. cuz I play four player with a multitap and my friend gets a sniper then chikens out the whole time just sniping. My favorite thing in multiplayer is that you can get turned into a duck or sheep and graze or cwack. I would highly reccomend this game now that it is at such a low price. The only downside i'd say is once you've bought every thing there is nothing at all to do,but there is challenge mode once you beat it,that is fun. I hope this was helpfull.

I am a pacifist and I usually don't like shooting games, but, with this one, the bad guys are just (almost) robots, so it is okay. No blood or gores. I really enjoy the game because the design is smart and the game is not only about shooting enemies with a lot of choices in weaponry, but also about racing, treasure hunters, strategy and more. The characters are funny, but not too silly. The environment is superb. The sound is great as well, and I like the idea to go from planet to planet. Besides, you don't stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing. So enjoy this game. It is a well constructed one with a lot of surprises.

i've played 1, 2(going commando), and 3(up your arsenal)

never played? start off with 2 and then get 3 (both of which are just wonderful)

if you must... get 1 too BUT i think block buster + 14 hours of game play will get you through the entire game (assuming you're a noob and will have problems... if not you can probably beat the whole game in 8-10 hours *no cheats needed*)Note, if you were to play the game to unlock everything and the secrets... you'll need 30 hours+

i like racket and clank games because your character has so much freedom, you can strife (in 2 and 3) you can jump, switch weapons easily/safely, upgrade weapons, blow up many things, it's a lot of mindless fun... a game for all ages

this is currently one of my most favorite ps2 games in terms of replay value (i've beaten it at least 6 times and upgraded everything to max) just playing nowadays to unlock all the skill points and secrets (i've played part 3 for at least 80 hours now and that's just part 3 alone) it's a great game guys

This is a replacement for the original game, we've played it so much! :) It's got all the challenge you'd expect from a Ratchet and Clank game and more. The games main focus is on upgrading your weapons. Each can be upgraded to level 5 - then you purchase the 6th level and upgrade it to level 8. It's got 5 levels of a Captain Qwark 2D side-scroller game
The Dynamo/Swing-Shot are now mixed with a third one into the Hacker Device. The Hacker is used to unlock doors through a very cool new many game. There is also armor to buy, Clank levels to play, Charge/Magna/Grind Boots, Ratchet Skins, skill points/cheats, titanium bolts and Trophy's to find/earn. There is also a Championship Level replay here and the End Boss Battle is the toughest in the series, including the new R&C:Future Tools of Destruction.
This game introduces the Hovership -- for ship to ground and ship to ship combat. There is also a four wheeled all terrain vehicle that you drive, while a monkey does the firing. There is also arena combat and you can even try weapons before you can buy them.
If you have them, make sure to insert a memory card with R&C 1 and 2 saves on it to get a free skin, free weapons and a one-time only discount.
This is my second favorite R&C game, after #2 -- it rocks!

This game is more entertaining and fun than the first two. (although, I enjoyed them also). The only complaint I have is the game was not long enough. After one month I have already completed it twice. But, it was just as fun the second time.

R&C3 has just lost its sparkle... shame

When I first got Ratchet & Clank 3, I thought: OH MY GOOD GOD!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!! After beating it: WOW! RY3NO!!! ITS SO COOL AND STYLISH!!! After beating it twice: RYNOCIRATOR??? GOD AWFUL NAME AND A GOD AWFUL WEAPON AS WELL!!! After beating it thrice: Sigh... another 30 minutes of wasting my important time beating this game... again. Now; after beating it EIGHT FRIGGIN TIMES: Booooooring. I'm gonna play Jak II... again. SEE??? It rules first but it gets old... REALLY old. OPS2 (Official PlayStation2 Magazine) gave it a 9/10 and said it always kept its 9/10 score it gave it. I'd give it 7/10 and KEEP IT THAT WAY!!!

There is nothing wrong with the graphics at first but then, annoying glitches start appearing. Ratchet's double ended light saber (Unlocked but pausing the game and pressing O, Square, O, Square, up, down, left, left) sometimes loses it's surrounding glow and WHAT happens to the glow? IT APPEARS RIGHT NEXT TO THE LIGHTSABER!!! Also, the character models must have been taken STRAIGHT from Going Commando. The look excactly the same.

The sound is both awful and awesome at the same time. The Metropolis stage from Ratchet & Clank 1 returns and the stage has lost its magic. No green grass, no rocky cliffs, no extremely murderous helicopters witnh machine guns shooting at you and the worst of all: THE PERFECT METROPOLIS STAGE MUSIC HAS BEEN REMIXED INTO A MORE INSTRUMANTAL TECHNO RATHER THAN THE STRAIGHT-TECHNO SONG OF R&C1! Why Insomniac, why? Thankfully, the Blackwater City music remains the same. Unthankfully, the Blackwater City LEVEL is awful. Oh and by the way: The voices are absoulutely perfect.

Now, the ganmeplay is in many ways unaltered but the game itself is just too short and you eventually end up having everything unlocked the 3rd time you play through the game. I have over 20 million (20.000.000!!!) bolts, all weapons upgraded to their final Level 8 Omega versions (except for the Rinocirator since it only goes up to Level 5 :P) and all of the gadgets, costumes, cheats and on and on and on.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:
1. It's Ratchet & Clank, duh!
2. The best boss fight in platformer history in found in this game: Courtney Gears. I replay the game just for that boss fight.
3. The Insomniac Museum has two secret Qwark Vid-Comics and is just fun to explore.
4. Gun upgrades. Just fun to receive, thats all... except for RY3NO V.5!
5. The cut-scenes are funny and could be re-watched all over again.
6. Courtney Gears.
7. Most boss fights are a joy to play.

Cons:
1. No races anymore.
2. No Grind Rails. And I liked them so. Goodbye Grind Rails. *sobs*
3. Fewer weapons.
4. Fewer gadgets.
5. Way too short.
6. It gets boring after a while.
7. The final boss fight is one of the game's lowlights.
8. The multiplayer is too shallow and is best played just alone.
9. Only ONE Giant Clank section. And its a movie set!
10. No spaceship fights.

The verdict:

Characters: 6.5- Too samey and poorly balanced rendering
Effects: 3.5- Too bright and cartoony
Levels: 9.5- Greatly rendered and awesome design
Overall: 7.5

Sound
Voices: 10- Great selection of voice actors and a well written script
Music: 6.0- Good but has its awful moments
Effects: 8.5- You know what to expect

Lenght: 3.0- Too short and pointless
Replay Value: 7.5- The Courtney Gears boss fight is good enough excuse to buy this game
Fighting: 9.5- Mostly unaltered and still shining
Platforming: 9.5- Awesome... predictably

-FINAL VERDICT-
Best worth as a rental but you can have good moments with it in your living room.

Must try it can I say.

Well... You should buy the original Ratchet & Clank over this.

this game seems so awesome, just the front got me hooked on buying it, the multi-player thing is sick [not in the bad way]and well its just AWESOME, its a must ,there's this place on the internet somewhere and on it its got it $40 plus postage and handling.

A lot of fun, but ultimately disappoints.

How you rate this game probably depends on whether you have online capabilities or not. If you have, then it'll doubtless take this series to new heights. But unfortunately, though I got a lot of fun out of many of the levels, I couldn't help feeling it wasn't anything really new. The cartoon sequences and the vocal acting are as good as ever, and the graphics look great. Problems arise in the last levels when you have umpteen robots, including flying ones, shooting at you from all directions. Maybe the creators of this game wanted to show how many enemies they can put on the screen at once, but the weapons in this game aren't really up to the standard of the ones in the previous games (the black holes and the shields are next to useless). You're forced to constantly backtrack through earlier levels just to pick up more bolts, and after a while this becomes repetative.
If you haven't played Ratchet and Clank before, you'll probably like this, and if you have online facilities then add a couple of stars to the score. Otherwise, this is one to rent rather than buy.

R&C 3 is going to rock

This game is going to be a lot more fun than the First two. This time around, the weapons upgrade a whole lot faster and can be upgraded three times. There is a nitro launcher that upgrades to its final form which is a nitro eruptor. This is a good weapon of choice for a boss battle. i'm only twelve but I'm an expert at video games

This should be the best rachet and clank game yet!

Ya its almost pointless rateing a game before it comes out but i will any way! If this is going to be anything like what happended in the leap from rachet and clank 1 to rachet and clank going commando this should be one of the best PS2 games ever especialy if it is better than RC2. Theres not much to write though as this game hasnt even come out though.
