This game is great. It is consistently funny with a great storyline. One player is great and all, but the real jewel in this game is the multiplayer. Flawless and fun. The only thing missing is grenades like Halo 2, but if you're interested in buying this game, get the online adaptor. There's also no fees for online like xbox live or any other subscription fees.
One of the Sickest Games for PS2.

Finally, the third sequel of Ratchet & Clank is here! I've been waiting months for it to come out. Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (and Jak 3) are the best games that I have. This game is so ill since Insomniac Games has created a whole new line of weapons and gadgets and since you can upgrade your weapons up to four times now. Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog (Jak 3) make the best adventure games ever. Some people say that Ratchet & Clank is better than
Jak 3 - or vice versa - but to me they are perfectly equal. Well, I'm going to wright a review for Jak 3 now. Please come and see it.
Great game

Ratchet and clank is the third installment of the Ratchet and Clank series. It consists of a regular level play, combat, and arena style fighting. Combat is one of the new additions to the way you play Ratchet and Clank in combat one fight alongside the galactic rangers fending of attacks from the tyranoids. One of the great things about this game is the diverse weapon assortment and gadgets and that?s not all these weapons also upgrade making them better and more powerful. Also, the replay value of Ratchet and Clank UYA is immense once you beat the game you can go through it with challenge mode where you will have to upgrade your weapons even more due to the harder enemies. But wait that?s not all UYA also has online capabilities which allow you to play head to head with your friends in Death match, Capture the Flag, and Siege mode. Overall this game has a great plot, awesome graphics, sweet weapons, and lodes of replay value.
A cool game with tons of weapons

I already had the 1st and 2nd game of the ratchet and clank series, and I just had to get this game. When I got it I was shocked at how much better it is than the others. Once I beat the game twice I thought there was nothing else to do... but then I remembered it was an online game, then I bought the network adapter and I played it for at least two months. If you are looking for a good game GET THIS!!!! Go, buy it now!!!
Chaotic...Compelling...and Cheap.

- CHEAP-@$$ REVIEW
[NOTE:] If you're one of those people that wanted to buy "Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal" for twenty dollars but hate getting the ugly "greatest hits" version, don't worry. You can still find the regular version of this game in certain stores and still cost twenty US bucks.
That's what I did above, and I manage to buy the most addictive action-platforming game in its natural and cheap way. This is easily the best PS2 game I've played of 2004. This game is an amalgamation of video game genres, and it works so damn well; not only it's a shooter, it's a platform, it's ALSO a streamlined-rpg along with side-quests to boot. Sure, I mostly run around and shoot at things like Al Pacino in "Scarface", but I have many weapons to waste enemies, like the Suck Cannon, the Annihilator, and my favorite, THE QUACK-O-RAY, and they level up the more I used them. The RPG content of this game makes this use more of my time to play with it to gain more levels.
With excellent graphics (despite frame-rate hiccups when dealing w/ lots of enemies) and sound comes an excellent sense of humor. This game laughed my butt from beginning to end, even when the story to its core is not so special. I laughed so hard whenever Captain "bull-headed" Qwark says something stupid to make him look good, or when the evil Dr. Nefarious goes so overzealous that he short-circuited mid-way, or whenever the troops in the battle missions whine about something. It's good that the gameplay is fun, but it's even better when the story and the characters around it are so outrageous that it leave me wanting more of that.
There are a lot of other things to do within the mission objectives. I can look for vid-comics to play the 2-D Captain Qwark mini-games, or go to annihilation nation to beat up strong baddies for dough to buy some more weapons. There's also a hacking game in a form of a puzzle. There are so much to do here, I can remember what it is. Don't forget: multiplayer is the hot thing in this game, especially online play. Although, there isn't a lot of users playing in the online universe, since all the other R&C fans are waiting for "Ratchet: Deadlocked." Then again, waiting for a year to buy the game for 20 dollars less can do that.
The best thing about the game is how streamlined the game is. I can buy ammo for the all weapons at the store, and I can switch weapons at the touch of a button. With that and the control, makes the whole game seems smooth as silk. The game is long, too; it took me well at 20 hours. Even when I beat the game, I can play the slightly-harder challenge mode afterwards (I'm still playin' challenge mode to this date), and I do say "slightly-harder" because if you maximized your entire stock of weapons, it won't be THAT big of a challenge. Sure, the game isn't as much fun the second time around, it's worth it to buy strong weapons and achieving 100% of the whole game.
So, yep, this game is a lot of fun. This may be my first foray into the "Ratchet & Clank" universe, but playing UYA is enough to know what's going on as a whole. Unless I needed to play them for the sake of exclusive materials such as Ratchet's old costume, I don't need to play the other games to know how fun the series is. With a game that's easy to get into but challenging for certain gamers, has many things to do here, not to mention the lasting value and online play, you gotta be nuts to not have played this. Get it...especially when it's cheap.

This game had to be the best one of the 3 part series. Although the events after Going Commando (the 2nd game in the series) aren't cleared up at first, it seems that your enemy is. Dr. Nefarious and his scheme to eliminate organic life. But the one thing that always shined with Ratchet and Clank were the weapons. They are breath-taking. Each has 4 upgrade levels. It is challenging yet so desirable. I couldn't put it down to i got each weapons finalized form. and I mean ALL the weapons. But PARENTS don't be SCARED of all this WEAPON talk. The guns don't go multilate and show gore and blood. There is about no violence that many kids haven't already seen on t.v. movies, etc. So please pick this one up. It is well worth it. Plus the ending is spectatcular...perhaps a sequel...like Ratchet: Deadlocked?
My favorite PS2 game ever!!!!

An action adveture and a shooter rolled into one! It dosen't stop there though, it has great multiplayer and it's even online!! The weapons are extremely creative and they all can be upgraded to 8 diffrent forms each getting even stronger!( The RY3NO can only be upgraded 5 times though.) Only two flaws in the game is the diffuclty in beating the game with out getting all the stuff and the story could be better. Bottom line: Great fun for everyone! Tons of unlockables and secrets. I hope Deadlocked is even better!!!!
one great game

this game is my second favorite game . it has a whole lot of great things about it . first of all, the multiplayer . it has alot of fun modes(siege, capture the flag and deathmatch),in online and offline gameplay ,and it's very very fun .but the game also has alot to it's single player gameplay . i think the storyline was great , and the cutscenes and movies are extremely funny. the game also has alot of weapons with 5 upgrades for each ,and another thing i liked about the game is your headquartes. you can go there anytime you want , and you have a weapon vendor there , an armor vendor(and you can trst new weapons there before you buy them) , a trophy room ( for special tasks you do) , an arena in which you can fight enemies and test new gadgets , and , my favorite, play 5 different arcade games in which you play as captain quark.and of course, you go there for mission briefing.also , aside from arena battles ,there are battle missions , in which you fight tyrranoids ( which are evil aliens that are controlled by the bad guy , doctor nefarious)with thew help of some other robots. these are very fun , as you need to do different things, like taking a plane and attacking the enemie's base , or assassinate four different commanders, or turn on a defensive circle of turrets, or.. .well, you get the idea . they're really fun.and also there are alot of bosses , and the replay value is great . like i mentioned above , there is a trophy room , in which you can earn trophies by doing special tasks or by just finding them ( there is a type you find and another type you earn by doing special missions)and if you earn them all you get a very interesting thing . so i definitely recommend you buy this game .
Just Plain Awesome

To tell you the truth, I came across the first Ratchet and Clank completely by accident. I needed to rent a game so that I could at least survive Christmas night. And this game was just what I needed. A cool mix of action and platforming that was bursting with things to do. Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando came out and that was definetely one of the best games out of the monster horde of releases in 2003. A game that combined third-person shooting fun with platforming antics made is a worthwhile sequel. And now Insomniac bring us the third in the series.
Story
The last games' story really had a twisted sense of humor that worked unbelievably well especially the infamous "Protopet Ad" that made you just laugh uncontrollably. This new one has a comic-book sort of feel to it that works well bringing the story and humor together. Ratchet finds out that his home planet is under attack by creatures called Tyyhranoids controlled by the evil Dr. Nefarious. After a few sequences you'll eventually, once again, meet Captain Qwark but this time you'll be joining forces with him and his Q-Force. The funny thing about it is that all of the members are from the first game and it's nice to see old characters again. Dr. Nefarious is one of the funniest villains you'll ever see and his butler Lawrence is equally hysterical. This game will definetely make you laugh.
Gameplay
The game is just complete shoot-em-up mayhem with definetely some strategy as well as the RPG twist from the last game that practically revoloutionized the genre. You can upgrade your weapons by defeating enemies and getting experience and you can upgrade them several times until they turn into new weapons which is absolutely awesome. You can still compete in arena challenges which lacks some of the incredibly insane challenges from the last game like "Defeat all enemies with the wrench without taking damage" so you'll find beating every challenge won't be too big a problem for the dedicated gamer. The enemies are pretty intelligent and if you don't do things carefully and think things out on the later levels then you're gonna end up dying several times. Fortunately, you still don't have to deal with lives so you can die all you want. There are different modes of control as well. You have a standard Ratchet and Clank third-person mode where you'll have to press one of the shoulder buttons the strafe and circle to shoot which is the most inconvenient shoot button for this kind of game and fortunately, that's where other types of play come in. Strafe-Lock will, of course, lock you in the strafe position and put the shoot button on R1 making it so you don't have to play finger origami to play well. First-Person mode is what you'd think it is but really doesn't pack a whole lot of punch to the action. If you're playing the First-Person mode, then you're obviously pretty desperate for a first-person-shooter. The gameplay remains similar to the previous installment but still keeps things incredibly fresh.
Graphics/Audio
The graphics are top-notch here as everything looks razor-sharp and very clean. The game even supports Progressive scan for those who have TVs that support this option. The script and voice acting is absolutely solid as well as the music being really well-placed. The graphics and sound make such huge components in this game.
Online
The big twist in this one is definetely the new multiplayer. You can play up to four player via multitap or eight through online. You have the standard Deathmatch, Capture The Flag and a very neat mode called Siege. In Seige, you'll either be on the blue or red side and you'll have your own base which you'll have to defend. You can capture nodes along the map for extra weapons, vehicles and a spawn point for whenever you get killed. Of course, you'll have to defend these as well as they can get captured. You'll find that defeating the other side isn't as easy as it may sound. You'll have destroy enemy turrets to open the main portal at destroy the core to win the game. The level design in these levels is incredible offering many different battle-fields to play in. This is one of the best online games I've played as the interface is just about flawless, not complicated like other games, and it's all completely lag-free with the exception of occasional freezes that don't happen very often unless someone is using glitches.
Overall
This game pack a monster punch. If you're craving a third-person action game and/or a good online title then this is the game to pick up, bar none.
