While it's true that this is not a great game, neither is it a bad game - It's an okay game. It's not as lengthy or innovative as previous Medal of Honor games have been, but It's only meant to hold you off until the main course of Airborne hits the stores. The lower price and fewer levels make that clear. If you are a MOH fan anything is better than nothing, and it's been a while between meals. In that regard Vangaurd serves it's purpose as a small taste of better things to come.
They phoned it in...

FROM BUTTERCUP'S HUBBY: This game is very disappointing. I have bought all of the Medal of Honor games and each has been better than the last---until this one. They are just trying to extend the brand while they work on the PS3 and Xbox games. No new weapons, no new scenarios, not very challenging, very average. Rent it, don't buy it. There is a reason why this game is opening at $39 bucks when all of the others started at $49---it's Rocky V.
Horrible Game

Rented this game, and I'm glad I didn't buy it. Yes, the last 2 levels were fun, however that does not make up for the other shortcomings of this piece of garbage from EA. First and most frustrating of all, there are not enough check points, so you make a lot of progress and it's lost when you die because check points are too sparse. Second, there's no health meter of any kind, you just die whenever the game feels like it, there's a general way of telling how you're doing. When you get shot a bunch the screen starts to turn red, then you just take cover and it goes away. I guess in WWII ducking behind a rock for a couple seconds made bullet wounds heal. Also, the game cinematics cannot be skipped. So when you die you have to sit through the same cinematic over and over again until you reach the next ridiculous check point. Another thing I felt was lacking was the controls. After fiddling with the sensitivity for awhile I got it the best I could, but they were still sluggish and awkward. Words cannot express just how disappointed and frustrated I am with this game. I would rather spend the weekend at Michael Jackson's place than buy this game.
Much better than Rising Son

I really like this game, especially the last two levels. The only problem I have with this game was the first 3 missions, which were way to short and easy. If they would have kept this game as long, and with the same intensity as the last two levels, this would have been the best MOH game so far (as far as the PS2 goes). I get the feeling this game was a rush job, but at least the last two levels are worth the price (worth a rental anyway).
Amazing!

This game was the best out of all the Medal Of Honor Series. The weapons were excellent, and i loved the way you could find upgrades for the M1 Garand and Thompson SMG. Great overall, but they should have weapon upgrades for all the weapons.
wait for xbox 360 airborne!!

Okay the first thing i noticed with this game is there is hardly any lighting effect even when i adjusted it. the tank you first encounter looks like its made out of card board from what i could see of it. (due to lighting.) The AI is retarded most of the enemys run into walls. and keep running. the first medal of honor for playstation 1 is better than this peice of garbage. and the american M1 garand your allies have is semi automatic but they work it like a bolt action rifle. thats what the Germans use. And thats if your lucky to even get them to shoot back at the enemy. The last thing i noticed was the phisycs are broken. I shot this german and he floats into the air and disapeers WTF! and my friend who also played this game experianced the same thing. and this was a brand new game i didn't rent it. i bought it from walmart. and after that i sold it to gamestop for 20$. If you still want to play this pitiful excuse for a game rent it don't buy it. either way in my oppinion its not even worth your time or money for that matter.
could be worst but in the end is a hell of fun!!!!

This game is short, its had 5 or 6 levels but dont get me wrong, short dont means easy, the last two levels are a pain in the back, but you realize that the more advance through the game the graphic became better and better, and one point the graphic are
equal or similar to the game BLACK, with great outdoors and ray of sunlight across the ceiling.
My favorite mission was the one with te parachutte landing and conquer the shore full of germans with 50mm machine guns. the more task that you complete you gain medals. I recomend this game for you!!!!!.
great ww II shooter

This game was very challenging, and rewarding although after reading the previous reviews i had my doubts. When i actually started playing this game, i found that it has a lot of fun and exciting as well as challenging regarding the amount of strategy involved for the player. I don't agree with some of the other reviews at all. I am a MOH veteran you could say, and have played all of the games, even the PS1 games, that said, this game was very fun. If you like great graphics, strategy and being in the middle of the WWII theater, get this game. This game does differ from MOH European Assault, in that you don't have the option to resore health for your fellow soldiers, but it doesn't matter to me, it definitely kept my interest.
A decent game

I love the Medal of Honor series, and generally the games are great. I have to admit, it seems like EA games is getting tired of its prodigy. The game has some fun game play, and has some nice added features. I've always wanted to know why a soldier in combat wouldn't run a lot more. Finally it's in this game. You can run! Also, you can peer around objects to shoot or throw grenades. Finally you don't have to expose your characters body to take a shot. The music is rehashed from earlier games and there is no story. I played right through this game on normal difficulty without any problems. The "Sniper" level at the end was the hardest level. On two levels you parachute into combat, and that's kind of cool, but your landing area is quite confined.
