Medal of Honor European Assault is the next installment in EA's long-running WWII franchise, which takes place in Europe 1942. You play as U.S. Army Lieutenant Holt, first field agent of newly formed OSS, who navigates the open battlefield; directing squad's movements in combat(which is a first for this series).
I'll admit, I've played a ton of games based on World War II but none have ever drawed me in quite like the Medal of Honor series has. I think the reason it's always drawed me in is because it reflects the ideals and integrity of those who served during that war. I've been a fan of the series since it first came out and, with the exception of Rising Sun, I've loved every single game that's come out. I've often wondered what happend during that war for our troops and this series gives us a taste of what actually happend. I like the fact that it gives us a lil history lesson in between each mission we go on, as well.
European Assault has to be the best game in the series so far, in my opinion. Not only do the graphics look more defined and detailed but the controls have been tweaked as well. The new gameplay adds some much needed depth to the game. And, the sound effects make it feel like it's actually happening while you're playing.
However, some things did annoy me about the game and, since this is a review, I will share them with you. First and foremost-you giving your squad a command and them not actually following that command to the letter. I'll have to agree with [...] Patrick who said in his review that if they'd do a better job at listening to your commands that they'd live alot longer. Second, what's the deal with all the crouching behind objects all the time? I know it's to get out of the way of enemy fire but, after doing that for the umpteenth time, it got downright bothersome and took away from the fun.
Overall, though, Medal of Honor European Assault is a great game. One that shouldn't be missed if you're a fan of the series. Sure, there are a hundred other WWII games to play out there but you'll never find one quite like the Medal of Honor series.

this game is pretty sweet, exept for the fact that you cant play with any bots in multiplayer mode! i bought this game mainly to play with my friends, because in the reviews, it said multiplayer player modes include capture the flag (CTF), king of the hill, and team death match. so i bought this game and selected multiplayer on the main menu. as soon as i picked the game type, i realized that there was no options for bots. the only way to play was 1on1 (or with a multitap, if u have a huge tv, otherwise your screen will be tiny, which is no fun) and since the majority of the game types are team based, ur screwed. CTF is about as entertaining as watching paint dry with only two people. and king of the hill is pointless with only 2, its like playing football with yourself. the game would have been perfect if the multiplayer in this game was like MOH rising sun's....
on the otherhand
the single player mode is very cool. my only complaint here is the game is way too short. i have beaten the game injust 2 days, although it was an enjoyable expirence. the 1 player gameplay is no longer u vs. the entire nazi war machine. in almost ever mission, u have plenty of help from your british (and russian) buddies. the 3 dudes that always follow u around are no help at all. i never bother with the command codes because it it useless. a word of advice DONT WAIST MEDPACKS ON THEM. i was clearing a building in the battle of the buldge level with my squad member and a german ambushed me. my squad member walked right in front of the german and out thedoor w/o firing a shot!
ANY WAYS the gamplay outweighs all of these little gripes i have.
BOTTOM LINE: if u enjoy the single player and dont care 2 much about the multiplayer, BUY NOW!
if u are looking for a sweet game 2 play with ur freinds, DONT BUY.
OVERALL this game IS AWESOME (minus the multiplayer) :)
Too little, too soon?

I wonder whether this was a slow-cook project that someone decided had to be released A.S.A.P.? A very short game for your $$$ - definitely a renter. Only 12 stages, and about as many hours to complete. Enemy AI makes the game challenging, your squad AI makes the game a joke. You can basically decide whether you'll keep them alive (perhaps sacrificing your own well-being) or simply let them die, as they so clearly want to do (standing still or running in front of machine guns is a favourite).
In typical fashion, a short, hastily cobbled together game (although the engine is good, and the non-linear stages are usually more interesting than earlier titles), makes the final part of the final stage very tough to disguise this fact... and so you repeat the whole stage, again and again. Great.
There are no in-level saves, and a "revive" bonus that brings you back to life - on half health, and being bayonetted by the guy who just killed you. How useful does that sound? Right. Disappointing, because it could have been a really worthy successor to the earlier games in the series.
dont waste your money

As a consumer of all the EA Franchise, I was highly disappointed with the latest release. No saving, difficult controls, etc,,,,After attempts to get through various parts of the game, I decided that having to repeat my last 20 min of progress was simply not worth my time. For the first time, I bought the game the day of release. I returned it the next.

MOH series has fallen on it's face with the past two entries. Rising sun sucked and so does European Assault. I'll give that this one is better than Rising sun but that's not saying anything. The gameplay is simple and bland. The A.I. is retarded. Boring missions and your sqaud is a useless feature. The MOH series needs a serious boost if it wants to ever have success again.
A lot of things missing

I agree with a lot of the people here. EA really could have taken a lot more time to develop a longer, and much more fun single player campaign. The multiplayer is very fun except the maps are small, the graphics suck, there aren't many places to hide, and finding weapons can be a hassle. The graphics in this game were probably the most dissapointing thing. I have played several Medal of Honor games in the past and they all had very good graphics for when they just came out. This game was very weak graphically and it almost took a little bit of the fun out of the game. Also the AI is very weak and they are all running around like they have their heads cut off. I do like the opportunity to move around a bit more, and that you have a three man squad, but they are a bit useless. Basically, if EA had spent more time tuning up the graphics, making a longer single player mode with better AI and a bit better gameplay the game would be unbelievable. In my mind the game feels like it is about halfway done. EA needs to really take time in making games, rather than trying to get the game out as soon as possible. So I give this game four stars because it has great potential to be one of the best games I have ever played but it falls just short. Oh and also the sound in this game was amazing. That was the only thign EA did perfectly. So maybe next time they will get it right.
the kind of game when ya wanna brake the controller

When i got this game o was so excited as i had played the first medal of honor: Frontline, which was an awesome game, this game is so crappy, it's unbelievable, graphics are N64 compatible, voices are all of sync with the person who's talking, oh and dont even get me started on the controlles for the game, they are so messed up, you will spend half the time you play the game just trying to figure out how to play it, overall this game is just another one of those games that ends up with a broken controller.

Unlike the other previous Medal of Honor games, you're not alone. You fight in open battlefields and you can command a squad.
I'm warning you, it's hard.
The action is good, but you might find a hard time looking to find your objective. Nevertheless, it gives the game a little more challenge.
There are tons of weapons and there's a cool adrenaline feature that makes the game more fun. So far, this is the best Medal of Honor game.
I like it

I just bought this game because I hadn't bought on in a while and I really enjoyed the other Medal of Honors, so I thought what the heck? THIS IS THE BEST MEDAL OF HONOR YET!!!! The AI is there and the gameplay is real! I'm in college and it's a great stress reliever and with the 4 person gameplay, my friends can come over and I can play them on many levels as many different characters. I'm also a WWII buff and this is a very accurate game. It isn't the easiest Medal of Honor, but it's deffinitely the best!!! To make it more impressive, I've had 2 Halo fanatics play it and they liked it better than Halo and Halo2!!! If you ask me, that speaks for itself!
Fun for 13 yr. old

My son loves this game. He rented it from blockbuster and decided that he had to have it. The price was much cheaper on Amazon (compared to chain stores).
