What the hell was my brother thinking? Crappy story line, finished in 20 mins and graphics that would make psone look on in disgust!

EA may be on to something here.

So you're all waiting to see what people have to say about this game. You're thinking that while it looks promising, it's got to be too good to be true. Well you're right. The graphics are worthy and the controls are nothing to complain about. Marvel Nemesis' biggest drag down is its depth. Not storyline depth, but depth as a fighting game. It's repetitive fighting combos make this game a renter. The moves that you saw in the preview clips, that made you want to put this game next to your pillow when you slept, were about as plentiful as quiet moments in a Will Farell movie. The story is intriguing, and as an action adventure game would probably grab 3.5 stars. But this game is wrongfully labeled a fighting game. I say if EA can clean up the moves and combos and add a few more characters, then a dynamite sequel may be in the cards for a potential franchise that has suspect kinks to be worked out. Like i said this one's a definite must rent, and a definite beat yourself with a shoe if you buy it.

Yours truly,
The Trafficker

My guess is that reviews are going to be very divided between Marvel fans and the opinions of the "Experts". Me being a Marvel fan believe this is an awesome game with really exciting moves and top notch graphics. Wolverine moves like he really is, a living killing machine and Spiderman's acrobatics are mind bending. If I had one complain is that I believe that there could be more space for other Marvel Characters such as Thor or The Incredible Hulk.

I HAD TO TAKE A BREAK FROM THIS GAME BEFORE MY EYES STARTED BLEEDING....

One of my best friends were telling me about how the early reviews for this game were hitting the toilet, so I thought I'd just start an account to put my two cents in.

This game is AWESOME. If you're whining because you can't play as certain characters, just go into story mode and unlock them like I did. If your game won't save it, you either have a defective memory card or a bad copy of the game, because mine works fine. If that doesn't work for you, just wait a few weeks and somebody will post a cheat. Personally, I like it because it's not easy to win. This has been one of the first games in a long time that has compelled me to take it online. I don't know about these new characters, but I know the old ones, and it's kind of cool to pick fights with guys that have unknown skills and powers; it kind of adds a new sense of realism to the game. I've been on this game for a few days now and I haven't even opened Ultimate Spider-Man yet.
I haven't had this much fun with a game since Mortal Kombat and the Capcom fighters. This has been my second favorite game this year since Revenge of the Sith came out.

This is the best game on the planet! you can play as Wolverine,Iron Man, Human Torch,Spider Man, and more including a new team called the Imperfects! heres a tip: play versus, play 2 player lives match, play as any charactar, give them both 1 live, choose the bridge and play on it 10 times. Every 10 times you get a new character or venue. It is awesome with the levels which doesn't have good cheat codes so for once their is a hard game,(but maybe it is not that hard to some people) and you get to try out new charactars. Try to unlock Niles Van Rokel. He is the best charactar. (but my lucky charactar is Wolverine) If anybody says this is a bad game they are full of crud! This is the best game ever! Buy it now or it will run out of stock because it is so good! This game is the best! Most of the other games are crud! This is great, cool, and awesome!

I don't really like the fighting style of the game. It seems like I've been waiting forever for a new X-MEN game similiar to my favorite one X-MEN Dimension. There's some cool characters in this one though. Everyone has the same move basically except for a few characters. Another favorite game of mine is Soul Calibur. If you have played either game then you will know what kind of game I like.

I am not a hardcore gamer, but I am a hardcore MARVEL fan. That said, this game desperatly needs a optional difficulty setting. The basic levels in "story mode" are easy enough, but the "bosses" know all the secret moves and aren't afraid to use them, meanwhile it gets really old trying to fight the same character for an hour because they keep slaughtering you. 2nd main complaint is they list all 18 characters in the booklet that are available to play, most of them you have to unlock. The promise of Daredevil, Venom and many others is unatainable unless you beat a considerable amount of characters.

The game play and design are spectacular though, aside from it not being very welcome to novice gamers. Hopefully the codes will be out soon enough.

This isn't much like the spiderman games that i'm used to, but it is definitely a lot of fun. Good storyline for a fighting game. The single player is challenging (but beatable) and uses most if not all the characters. There are plenty of characters, and most are different and have unique powers. There are two versus modes: against the computer or against a friend. The computer is pretty easy to beat. Each character has it's own pros and cons. Another thing i like is that the character levels aren't the same (anybody remember super smash bros?). In most games there are a lot of different people but they're mostly the same and your winning mostly just rides on your experience with their moves. In this there are some major strong characters unlocked at the end.
I actually got bored and a little dissappointed after playing this a couple of days, but a little while ago i started playing again and it is awesome. recommended for comic book fans.

Good and bad

Believe it or not the widely differing reviews are all correct for the most part, it just depends on your own personal preference.

If you love beat 'em ups with 4 or 5 button sequences so you can rip out your buddy's spine because he's just learning then you probably won't like this game much. If you want to play in single player mode going through what seems like an endless number of levels you probably won't like this game.
However, if you want to be able to pick up a controller, learn a few buttons and a little bit about each character's abilities so you can duke it out with friends or online it may appeal to you.

Single player mode may seem a little easy to the mega button mashers out there but to the average player it will be pretty challenging at times. Some opponents are very easy to anyone... others very difficult. No matter how much of a button masher you are I can't see anyone unlocking all the content in some of the times suggested. Some of the missions are just too difficult for that. A hardcore gamer could possibly get through it in one sitting but most people will spend a little more time on it though.

If you want to pick it up and instantly play your favorite hero then you may be disappointed because you have to finish missions to unlock most of the characters. Still, most characters are fairly easy to unlock but others may depend on a real nasty opponent and that may frustrate you. You may also be disappointed that your favorite hero doesn't quite live up to their abilities in the comics. Being able to select from a couple weapons would have made a few characters more like their comic book namesake.

Head to head mode is pretty fun because just about anyone can pick up a controller and start to pick up the fighting mechanics quickly. No total embarrassment from having your spine effortlessly ripped out by the one person at the party that sat in front of the game for days learning the button sequences. I haven't played online but I'm sure it's just like in person.

The graphics and sounds are good although the developers seem to like shiny characters a little too much. The story is no better or worse than some comics but I wouldn't call it great.

This game would be better if it weren't for some major flaws which may make the difference between loving the game and hating it.

The controls are usually pretty responsive... right until you get hit and stunned. Once that happens you are at the mercy of your opponent which can be very frustrating. Having your opponent give you a total whipping while your character stands/lays there doing nothing as you hammer the buttons is maddening. Being momentarily stunned would have been ok but they took it too far.

Some of the missions are too difficult for the average gamer and you will get stomped repeatedly. To make matters worse you have to sit through the cut scene after you are defeated and listen to the other character gloat. This wouldn't be bad if you manage to defeat the opponent in a handful of attempts... but when you lose over and over you feel like yelling "just let me play again" because you can't skip it. To make matters worse, what they say is clever maybe once... maybe. Thank heavens the cut scenes are short.

The game is full of explosions which is kinda cool at times... but it has far too many exploding objects. It seems like everything you touch at certain locations blows up and does major damage. Ok, cars blow up after a delay and you have time to run but other objects that blow up instantly are just annoying. Still, I guess that would depend on whether you are on the receiving end or not.

The game repeatedly checks for the save game memory cart when you have autosave turned on. Um... programmers... set a flag and just check it once at the end of each mission or battle... how tough could that be? It's not a major issue but it takes longer after each mission than it should.

Despite it's flaws it's quite playable and fun. I'd never call the single player gameplay deep but you can get some fun out of it for a few hours or days. You can always play the computer head to head once you complete the story missions. I'd call single player mode practice more than anything. It's the head to head play with another person that makes this game worth playing. I've played adults, kids (in spite of it's Teen rating) and my brother (who is terrible at most fighting games). After they had a little practice they could all fight fairly well and at least put up a decent battle.

Overall I'd say the game is worthwile just for the head to head play. The sad thing is that with a little more play testing, deeper gameplay in the single player mode and some additional charater moves/weapons it could have been a great title. Instead it's stuck with a rating that matches it's name... imperfect.

For single player mode alone I'd give it 2 1/2 stars. With titles like God of War to measure up against it's just too limited.
However, I only bought it so my friends and family could duke it out. For that it's really fun and I give it a 4 our of 5.
It's a discount title so pay a discount price if you buy it.
