This Game was a complete and utter disapointment. First of all, there really arn't many songs that are acturally good, but more than that, the microphone would simly refuse to go into the ps2!!!!! It was constantly falling out, stopping the game and forcing us to hold the chip in for just a few seconds of pure singing. Also, for some reason, the disk crashed, deleting all memory from the game, forcing us to start over. Now we simply do not play it, and we regret the waste of money this piece of junk game and Mic turned out to be

I love the songs on this disc. However, it is not really compatible with the PS3. So sometimes, one of the two microphones do not work and shut off. When you reboot the PS3, it still doesn't work. So be wary of this.
A ton of fun, but aimed at the older crowd perhaps?

This was the first karaoke revolution game that I received, and I enjoy it very much! However, the songs on the game I found were quite old, even for someone like myself, a senior in college. I dont know about the rest of you, but the 80's were a blur for me. I didnt know these songs very well, which can put a major hinderance on game play. I liked the high amount of songs they put on he recent game, but I have already ordered Karaoke Revolution Volume 3 after seeing more recent songs that I would know.
I found the "sing and dance" mode to be challenging, and if you dont know the song by heart, dont play it, because you need to be watching the arrows for where your feet should be going. I would also recommend a wireless microphone for the dance pad (if they exist) since a cord will get in the way of your dancing moves.
I thought it was really cool that the game had a sense of initiative, with over 50 different unlockable items (although 90% of which are items you can use to create your character, or just a new character). Some of the songs listed here need to be unlocked through game play. I'm sorry I couldnt think of every artist for these songs, but if it isnt listed, assume its from at least 15 years ago.

I recieved this as a gift for Christmas day as a surprise. However, there was a mishap at Wal Mart I guess and the mic they told my parents would work actually didn't so I hadn't been able to play until yesterday. However, now that it's all sorted out I was finally able to play using the USB PS2 head set. And the game is actually so much fun. First time I tried I went to familiar songs, so I selected "Pieces of Me". I did so bad for the first time it was laughable, it failed me just as I started the second verse. But the game gets so much better after your first few tries.
After a while I was easily getting Gold on expert judging (I immidiately like the challenge myself). I was breezing through songs I grew up loving such as Irene Cara's "Fame", Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music", and Vicki Sue Robinson's "Turn The Beat Around". Then I was going through songs that were dominating my CD player not too long ago such as Ashlee Simpson's "Pieces of Me", Incubus' "Drive", Beyonce's "Crazy in Love", and Hilary Duff's "Fly". And it's even better with classics such as Madonna's "Material Girl", Blondie's "Call Me", The Commodores "Brick House", and Whitney Houston "I Will Always Love You" (one of the many I haven't quite nailed yet). Now in order to make platinum from Beyonce do you have to actually sing like her? No, which makes the game very accessable. However, it doesn't hurt to be familiar with your singing voice.
Over all this is a very fun game with only one problem. While the songs may be fun, it's very VERY diverse. Sometimes too diverse for it's own good. Take for example that when me and my Mom want to play, the songs we personally know are from two different erras. I'm wanting to bust out with "Call Me", and she's wanting to do "I Left My Heart In San Francisco". This can creates the only problem: that unless your an all around music-know-it-all (which I'm not quite there yet) you'll end up doing the same songs over and over again.
But this really doesn't bring the game down. If you've been around and listened to a wide variety of songs then you should be able to cover a good 30 songs. And not to mention, it would make a great party game. I would suggest getting this game if you're into having fun while not being afraid to make a fool of yourself.
GREAT FUN, but limited....

This game is very fun because you are able to change and/or create your own characters in many different ways, there's different games you can play than just plain karaoke, and it has ways of encouraging you to do better. Each location you can choose from has fun things that happen when you sing more in tune, like if you sing on the rooftop of a building, and you're doing AWESOME, a helicopter comes by and starts filming you on live cam! It's a lot like American Idol in how you're glamourized. The only thing I don't like about it is that the song choice is limited. There's ways you can "earn" new songs by doing well, but I wish there was a way you could add more songs to the songlist that we personally could choose.
I want more PS2 Karaoke games

My kids love this game. They play it almost everyday. I just wish that there was a record and playback so I could here what my kids did. This game is great for adults too. Especially if the adults are drinking.

I bought this game for my fiance's 9yr old. We all had fun playing the competitive games; the karaoke wasn't that fun. The people who ended up liking the game the most were myself and my fiance's 12yr old. The 9yr old really liked creating the characters. The variety of songs was good. In addition to buying the game I bought an extra mic, but after a couple days one of the mics stopped working.
A great game only gets better and better!

I have loved Karaoke revolution from the beginning. I didn't think it could be any better than the 3rd version when they added the duets. This version takes the game to a whole new level. There is a wide variety of songs, so many different types of people can play. There are several songs that begin locked, but it didn't take too long to get them unlocked. The mini games are terrible and there was no need for them on the disk.
I found that it is near impossible to both sing and dance at the same time. If you don't know all the words to a song, it is impossible to read the singing and dance lines at the same time. Besides, it's extremely difficult to speak, much less sing while exerting yourself on the dance pad. I recommend having one person sing and another dance. This changes it up and gives you some great songs to dance to. I like the DDR games, but never have been crazy about the songs, so I really like the great songs.
Here is a complete list of the songs on the game as well as the artist of the version of the song:
Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
Ain't Too Proud to Beg - The Temptations
Always - Atlantic Starr
American Woman - Lenny Kravitz

Every Little Thing She Does is Magic - The Police
Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears for Fears
Everywhere - Michelle Branch & Santana
Fame - Irene Cara (from the soundtrack)
Fly - Hilary Duff
For You I Will - Monica
Greatest Love of All - Whitney Houston
Headstrong - Trapt
Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
I Don't Want to be - Gavin DeGraw
(I've Had) The Time of My Life - Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes (Dirty Dancing soundtrack)

Santa brought this game, and I don't think we've stopped playing since! It is such a blast, and really brings the family together. We were all so excited when my husband finally beat platinum on "Brick House" (it was our last one left that wasn't platinum) the other day. It has a great variety of songs...new and old. Another reviewer said there weren't enough new songs, and I disagree. My friends' daughters (21 and 16) even commented on how many new ones there were (but they still chose to sing "Take On Me" from the 80's. My 8-year-old and my husband have gotten perfect scores on "Material Girl." In fact, my daughter loves all the old 80's tunes. The only problem we've had with this game is that the arrows don't show up for the dancing. We don't have a mat, but we tried it at someone else's house. Anyway, I'm sure we'll get that squared away by the time we get a mat. I cannot recommend this game enough! Don't get the headset, the regular mics are better...be sure to get two for duets!
