This is not a blockbuster...

I have always been on the lookout for special things, be it adventure games or independent movies. They remind me of the fresh creativity and subtle sensitivity that we hardly get from blockbusters these days. So when I saw Capri winning the "Best Independent Game in 2003" prize from JustAdventure, I immediately bought it. And guess what?

This game is worth every penny.

It is surely not flashy. It has a simple intuitive interface and the graphics is made with pictures. But you do not need a fancy graphics here. I was immediately absorbed by the orginal storyline. While playing, I had the feeling of being there, in the magical Mediterrean island, far from the noise and the stress of my daily life. It was a lot of fun to hear folkstown speaking and listen to the sound of nature. And quite pleasantly, I found myself learning a great
deal of Capri and the Italian people. When I finished the game -which was not easy at all - I felt so bad. Strangely, without being there, I missed Capri! The good news is that along with the game, there is also a tourist visit part. I can always go back and just wander around the island!

While some people might prefer the big productions with more violent, flashy features, there are plenty of people like me that will value the little gems like Capri. I have also read similar opinions on Game Chronicle, PC-Gamer, JustAdventure and so on. So if you are looking for something unusual, special, fun and challenging, this game is for you.

recommended!!

There are many things that made this game special to me: pictures of a real place, immersive atmosphere and sounds, original story. You decide as a tourist to have a vacation in Capri. On the way to your hotel, the screen swirls, almost all the people disappear, and you find out that your hotel is closed. Now the locals recognise you as a local resident. They request you to run errands for them and tell you about various features of the island and its history. This premise for a game may seem boring until you learn that you ended up in a different dimension and you must go back to your world before it's too late. At this point the game becomes much more interesting. There are plenty of puzzles to solve, you find a lot of strange machinery. The conclusion of the game is great as all of the pieces fell into place. This is a first-person perspective game and each scene is a color digitized photograph of the real Capri. Overall this game has some flaws but it's a step in the right direction for more adventure games to come. I would recommend to anyone that has ever liked either an adventure game or Capri. I find this game very valuable for its educational value.

I stumbled on this game by total accident. Without much expectation, I found myself totally amazed by how much fun this game is! The game is simply ADDICTIVE. It is very different from other adventure games I've played, such as Syberia and Black Mirror. The pictures of Capri island were breathtakingly gorgeous. I love the encounter of real Italian locals, hear their voice and the other natural sounds of the environment. The plot was quite challenging. It warms up slowly. But as soon as you got into the puzzles and riddles, you can't pull yourself out of it. It is definitely a fun storyline. I would recommend this game to anyone, especially if you are looking for both a cultural and adventurous experience. Plus, the soundtrack is great as well!

Great game!

This game is great for the thinking minds. The logics are well-thought out and the game is surprisingly fun for a point and click adventure. You are given a vast amount of land to explore and occasional environmental objects to interact with. You meet (real Capri's) villagers once in a while. This gives the game a very nice touch and enhances the realism of the exploration. It was nice to include both English and Italian voices. The reason this game can disappoint is that in the beginning it's hard and a bit confusing. But once you get into the game it is very challenging and I really enjoyed it. Patience is the key with this game, if you are not the patient type this isn't the game for you. The concept is intriguing. Scenery of Capri is simply breathtaking. All through the game, you could feel playing the game. Overall, Capri is simple and organic, It's worth buying it for the scenery, logics and the surprisingly good non-linear game-play.

Well worth a try

I found this game very enjoyable. The game has nice pictures and the sound is pretty immersive. The voice acting has italian accent though. The gameplay revolves around puzzle solving. Overall I found this game well balanced... the puzzle are always logical. Some of them are really hard! A must buy for point and click fans and well worth a try for those wanting to try a title from the genre out....

Excellent Game

This is an excellent game. It has beautiful scenery and I enjoyed the actual people being woven into the fun, non-violent story line. Another interesting concept of this game is their use of the map to maneuver through the areas. I do wish there were more games like this that gives a tour of the area--this type of game is quite educational.

One suggestion I would make is that in future games the maps be a bit clearer. I found that I had to really get up close to the monitor in order to see the route names as the font was not that clear.

I do hope the sequel to this game comes along very soon!

Immersive game.

I found this game much more immersive than most other games. Turn down the lights and you are in this Mediterranean paradise!
The environmental audio is immersive and the gameplay is captivating. I was noticing some cool sound effects (sounds that I don't think I've heard in other games). I was sceptical when I heard that Got Game was going to deliver a game set in Capri, but the game has more than exceeded my expectations. Some of the puzzles are rather wacky, but overall well designed. They are not too tough, so most people should be able to figure them out. The storyline of the game is a little strange but that doesn't really impact the fun you will have playing.

Very good graphical adventure

A Quiet weekend in Capri is a very good graphical adventure. The world is composed of thousands of photographs and it is very pleasing to the eyes. The music is great and is, by itself, the atmosphere in this game. Great job on the sounds too. Some of the puzzles can be really hard. Some of them generate real satisfaction and are all very logical. If you get stuck, just look into a walkthrough to solve the problem and then continue without it. Most of the puzzles are simple and easy to solve. Talk to people, grab all the things you can, observe the scenery (which is gorgeous) and investigate the items in the inventory bag. Some of them look really weird! Although there is no pixel hunting, often you might to not to take notice of some important thing... so be careful! If you do like adventure games, this is a fine game for you!!

Excellent entertainment

When I bought Capri I was very curious. This game is unlike any other game I have ever played. Instead of computer graphics, the game uses real life photographs of Capri. Also, this game has no intro. So I found myself starting this game with very little idea of how the storyline would go on. After 1 hour or so of game play I finally found out what the game and the mystery was about. Once I got into it, I couldn't stop playing anymore. It is not such a linear game that I was spoon-fed what I had to do next. It is very much the gamer that has to work out what is going on and where to go next. Many players may not like this and get disappointed.

The layout of the game and the controls are very simple. It is completely mouse orientated with no need to worry about the keyboard. The game also allows you to just explore the isle of Capri without solving the mystery.

The rythm of the game is very relaxed; there is no sense of pressure at anytime. This game is a joy to explore due to its wonderful photograph and the noises you would expect to hear in a town and in the less busy areas. Capri looks to invite the gamers to take their time and enjoy the environment and ambience of the game. Few areas in the game are not open till you have completed a certain task. I would not recommend this game to gamers who like games where there is plenty of action and tension. What appealed to me is the feeling that I was really wandering through Capri and that I could take my time to explore all the narrow and tiny streets and different locales. This game is able to bring the player into a whole new world. Excellent entertainment for all the family.

Capri creates such a complete and absorbing atmosphere!
It is hard to solve at many parts but stimulates thought throughout the storyline.
One of my favorite games.
