I stumbled on this game by total accident. Without much expectation, I found myself totally amazed by how much fun this game is! The game is simply ADDICTIVE. It is very different from other adventure games I've played, such as Syberia and Black Mirror. The pictures of Capri island were breathtakingly gorgeous. I love the encounter of real Italian locals, hear their voice and the other natural sounds of the environment. The plot was quite challenging. It warms up slowly. But as soon as you got into the puzzles and riddles, you can't pull yourself out of it. It is definitely a fun storyline. I would recommend this game to anyone, especially if you are looking for both a cultural and adventurous experience. Plus, the soundtrack is great as well!

A cool game!

I have read that this game is considered as a Myst-real-location from reviews on adventure game sites. It is partly true because it gives the same atmosphere as Myst. But it uses real-life photos rather than computer generated graphics.
When I played the game, I felt totally immersed in the real-life setting of the island. This is something I like very much, considering that I probably wouldn't get to go to Capri myself in the foreseeable future. The storyline is rather unconventional. It also has a good sense of humor at many places. The only thing I hope they had done more is to give me more "save slots".

Overall it is one of the best games I've played recently. I really told all my friends about it. It is definitely a cool game to own! -- Especially considering that you also get to have a completely navigatable guide of Capri!

A nice try but nonetheless, pathetically boring.

This game was independently produced by two gentlemen. Not to say this game is absolutely horrible but believe me, its close to it. The story is vague, the photos are average, the music is ok, the interface is horrible, and the gameplay is confusing and boring... To think that anyone could even begin to compare this to Myst is a laughing joke. I urge you not to spend your money on a waste of a game like this. If you're into these kind of adventure games, take a look at what the adventure company is currently making or other well-known publishers. Don't be mislead by the other reviews here that describe this game as something its not. Trust me, you will not have fun playing this game. Adventure games are my favorite genre and I must say, this ranks pretty low on my list. If you still have doubts about what I have just written, check IGN or Gamespot for their reviews. As you will see, the game gets something like 4.0 out of 10. If you're into essentially just clicking randomly in what seems that a powerpoint slideshow, then go for it, otherwise don't buy this pathetic excuse for a game

This is not a blockbuster...

I have always been on the lookout for special things, be it adventure games or independent movies. They remind me of the fresh creativity and subtle sensitivity that we hardly get from blockbusters these days. So when I saw Capri winning the "Best Independent Game in 2003" prize from JustAdventure, I immediately bought it. And guess what?

This game is worth every penny.

It is surely not flashy. It has a simple intuitive interface and the graphics is made with pictures. But you do not need a fancy graphics here. I was immediately absorbed by the orginal storyline. While playing, I had the feeling of being there, in the magical Mediterrean island, far from the noise and the stress of my daily life. It was a lot of fun to hear folkstown speaking and listen to the sound of nature. And quite pleasantly, I found myself learning a great
deal of Capri and the Italian people. When I finished the game -which was not easy at all - I felt so bad. Strangely, without being there, I missed Capri! The good news is that along with the game, there is also a tourist visit part. I can always go back and just wander around the island!

While some people might prefer the big productions with more violent, flashy features, there are plenty of people like me that will value the little gems like Capri. I have also read similar opinions on Game Chronicle, PC-Gamer, JustAdventure and so on. So if you are looking for something unusual, special, fun and challenging, this game is for you.

Should get 0 stars, but not an option

I was drawn to this game by one thing, and it turned out to be FAR from the truth, in my opinion. The Box says "think Myst but in a real location" not only does it not even compare to Myst in any way, but I found it boring, tedious, and pointless, and after 2 days of wandering aimlessly through it and having no fun at all, I uninstalled it.

Tedious . . .

To put together this game, the developers took a lot of digital photos of Capri. A lot of them. And it took a lot of their time and effort, and so they want to make sure you see them. Every last one. Over and over and over again. The interface is primitive, and in very many scenes, there is just one direction you can go. To get from one point to another takes enough clicking to give you carpal tunnel, and has the net effect of paging through a tourist brochure for Capri -- for hours. Thankfully, after a period of game play, you are provided with several jump points to shorten your journeys.

The developers were very proud of their music, which is bland. They include an extra CD of the music for their game. There is a button you can press to turn off the music . . . but the music will start back up simultaneously.

The game is non-linear, but much of it involves running to and fro. Many puzzles are simply carrying objects from point A to point B. The entire thing is so tedious that after a few days of play, I uninstalled it.

Addicting!

I am reading here different opinions about this game. I think this is a great game. Maybe the comparison with Myst is a bit misleading but I overall agree with Steve Ramsey in QuandaryLand. The game was very addicting for me. In the first part (let's say 1/4) there are fetch and carry kind of puzzles. They let you get familiar with the island and the game. In the remaining 3/4 of the game there are many challenging puzzles involving bulbs, colors, tones, mysterious machines, a secret code to find out, etc... Some of them are very hard, others are easier. The final part is also very exciting. All of the puzzles nicely come together in the brilliant conclusion of this game.

Fun Fun Fun!

Finally a nice adventure game with real people inside.
I loved it.
There is no shooting either and no violence at all.
Once I installed it, I played it non stop for 5 days. I got stuck a few times and cheated (a walkthough is needed!).
Maybe not the best game ever but to me it was still all worth it.

Weekend in Capri uses pictures instead of rendered graphics. To my knowledge this is the first example of adventure game made with real pictures. I thought this was a great idea and that's why I bought Capri. At the very beginning I just started wandering around. The place and the pictures were so gorgeous, the natural sounds so immersive that I felt like exploring a new world. After a while I made up my mind. I am playing this game to solve a mystery! And slowly I started figuring out what was the game about: try to find your way back to your original world. It took me a while, but once I got into it, I found the storyline really intriguing and entertaining. Overall I had a lot of fun with this game. Highly recommended.
