This game has a lot of fun and varied missons, good driving engine, funny radio, and the most replay value of any game I have ever played. The graphics aren't great and the shooting gameplay is pretty shallow. The one thing that sets it apart is that after a year and a half it is still fun to get in a police chase.

I learned about grand theft auto through a freind and I am a video
game freak. this is one of the most fun games and enjoyable one I have played seince unreal 2004. great graphics, music, and it allows you to do things that other games don't offer.
It is a must to own!!!!!!!!!!!
WISH THERE WERE MORE GAMES LIKE THIS ONE.

Grand Theft Auto 3 was the best gangster game when this game came out(That's not saying much though because the only other gangster games were GTA and GTA 2). But, as good as GTA 3 is, Vice City blows it away in every way possible. The graphics in this game are a bit cleaner and look better. They got actual music from the time period this game is set in (The 80's). Plus on the radio they even kept the funny chat segments. There are also more cars and as a bonus factor they also added in Motorcycles, boats, and helicopters. The best thing in this game is still the freedom you have to run around and do whatever the heck you want. All in all this game is one of the best reasons to own a PS2 (and an XBOX and a good PC).

Grand Theft Auto Vice City is the best game I have played in along time. The missions are well thought out and are more connected to the story than in GTA 3. The graphics are much improved and capture the 80s feel exactly with the bright colours although the hands are truly horrible. The sound is arguably the best aspect of the game and included classic song from artists such as Michael Jackson and Mr Mister. The Dj's are funny but someimes don't quite seem to know what they are saying.
I really see no reason why people are so predjudiced against this game and its predecesor about strippers and the foul violence. The violence is fun and, just like in real life the police chase you. The controls are simple and the game will last forever even if you have finished it.
Overall, I would extremely reccomend Vice City for any gamer, serious or not.

I'm not a big gamer, but I can tell you that I am a big fan of GTA. Many gamers believe Rockstar is so successful because it has made the most action packed games (which are subsequently quite violent). That's only part of it. It's their incredible story lines, characters, and settings that make audiences crave...to be part of the game, sort of like a movie. Gamers like Rockstar's storylines, not so much the blood and guts...that's why "State of Emergency" failed as a game.
Some might think that GTA III was better because it had more of a mafioso story, but I think it's the stylish mix of quarky characters, catchy lingo, and the idea of revenge that makes things so good.
FOR ALL OF THOSE WHO'VE ALREADY PLAYED VC-There's only two reasons why I had to give this masterpiece 4 stars.
1.) I don't want to spoil things, but in GTA III, Sonny can't be alive, so how many brothers does this guy have? Giorgio, Mike "Lips", and the other ones that chase "Fido" all the way to the crusher in Liberty City.
2.) It's got an ominously close resemblance to Miami Vice and Scarface...so much as to where I suspect if this idea was original or thought up right after watching an Al Pacino flick.
Otherwise, PLAY AWAY!
Though there's a few holes in the storyline, I have no problem recommending this game to anyone...plus the music is wildly good!

Vice city was a an awsome experience when I first go it no doubt!
october 29 2002 when I got it if I can remember well. So yeah its a little late to be reviewing this game but this game is great. Sadly I blame this game for causing me to fale my finals in math. I spent my preciuse 12 hours playing this amazing game than study but I learnded my lesson. Tommy vercity who is voiced by actor Ray lee ota is out of jail after 15 years in prison and meets his old boss sunny who he owes money too.

As you progress through you meet more and more characters in the game. Lance the ever so smart aleck black dude who helps tommy in his revenge for his dead brother I think. You also meet many other characters such as avery carington and candy suxx the ever so loving porn star. I gave it for out of 5 for some good reasons. Same with other game mags.

over all it gets a 8.9 out of 10 for.
GRAND THEFT AUTO 3 was waaaaaay better. I dont know why though I think its cause it was more urban. Or maybe cause it took place in a modern time of year that I can think of like the mid 90's. One thing for sure was that 3 was more currupt looking thatn vice city. The characters in 3 were also awsome. Better If I might add. Over all Grand theft auto vice city Is ps2 classic that every ps2 (adult/mature)owner should have.
Might I add that grand theft auto with a shadow of a doubt is the most Mature rated Game out and ever made.
Its the content. The violence is little cheezy and the blood isnt as red or darker as 3.
The sexual content shows nothing but gives you the sence of what is happining. The language is over the top but no F-word in it. If they added the f word atleast once it would have gotten really mature content for me but thats alright.
I found 3 to be more mature than this though cause it seemed they were trying to hard at making vice city mature to the max.
If you are a violent/Mature gaming lover...than try out these other games.......
Grandtheft auto 3(the ground breaking original that set the standards of violent gaming...Maybe not setting but really violent)
Manhunt(very graphic game)
Postal 2
Kingpin life of crime(Extreamly violent and filled with foul language)
Conkers badfur day(see it for your self and youll see why it isnt for children...Dont let the cute squarl fool you!)
Soldier of fortune
The suffering(Monster decapitation filled with gore/violence/Very disturbing images and extreamly foul language)
Max payne 2(Very violent with explicit nudity only on the pc versian)
The thing (Hard core graphic violence)

These are the more famouse and know games but there tons of em its just that most game mags dont review em or talk about em so they dont get all political. I wish there was a first person shooter game were you can do some of the most outrages things like smathing a guys head open with a hammer or ect. But I think they have made a game like that. I just dont know what the game is called. I wish most games were like manhunt and gta but then again it would become very, very boring.
Over all vice city was a great experience that I will never forget. GET IT!

GTA: Vice City is a game with blood and gore, driving, shooting, flying, racing, etc. all in one game. This game has everything an outlaw would do plus. There are many fun and challenging missions that can keep you on the run from cops. You can pick up hookers, slaughter people on the street any way you'd like, run over people, shoot their head's off, steal their cars, impersonat police, change clothing, and jump boats and motorcycles. You can also get drugs and have "bullet time."

I loved this game !!!! I never played the other GTA series games until GTA3 was released which I love also. Rockstar games makes some awesome games. Don't let the [stuff] about violence or sex fool you. It's great clean fun.
