Rockstar does it again!!!

Yes, this game is a totally awsome improovement to GTA3... The missions are much better. One very great example of this is that in the beggining of GTA3, you basically have to listen to the same stupid mission over and over, this game corrects that.

Obviously the weapons are a heck of a lot cooler!!!! And so are the cars, as you have way more choice, and the radio stations and the chat station is great if you just listen to it.

Another great thing is this game gives you the ability to finally actually go do stuff inside stores or mansions, etc. and if you ever get bored of doing the missions and just want to mess around, this game is awesome just to put in a lot of cheat codes, fly your way around, float in water, whatever.

One of the greatest additions to transportations is definantally the motercycle. The Motorcycle thing may not be as appealing to someone who started out playing San Andreas and played this just to try it out -- but it was a great improvement.

This game is defintally more challenging than the first. One semi-annoying, but a little more interesting thing is that the cops are smarter. All you need is one star and the cops go psycho, lol. So it can be a lot more exciting, especially if you're doing a rampage.

And as for people that critisize the graphics, get a life. only a nerd would down rate this game for that. A game like this is great because you can spend hours and hours playing it and it gets so hard to become boring... and this game is truely going to become a classic. Even if you do get sick of it, just take it out a few weeks or a month later and you'll be addicted again!

GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas are truely awsome examples of games that get better every sequal!!! This is like an overdos upgrade of GTA3, I STRONGLY reccomend this game.

You know you are an outsider.

You know but you haven't figured out what to do with that. Should you try for another 5 years to blend in? Get married, or worse stay married, to a straightlaced heteronormative partner and aspire for a glacial career under the banner of heroically common sense? Perhaps you are already doing that and realizing what a colossal fraud you really are.

Or you can go the other way. Act out and burn out. Try to bludgeon your brain with every illegal substance and deviancy until you can't even remember your middle name. Heck! Do crimes! You know as an outsider you don't belong. The rules don't apply to you! You can go completely feral but you risk having the whole blur come to a stop at the foot of a federal pen. Or worse continue on from there.

The best answer? A well tailored lifestyle. Be a nut in your own constitutionally protected way, as far as you can bend even. I won't tell if you commit some victimless misdemeanors. Then when you're done, chill out, pop in the Vice City disc (because you are too anti-consumer to buy San Andreas when its fully marked up and everyone is too hot for it) and be a full blown deviant thug within the socially tolerable boundaries of your PS2.

Phenominal game

The first thing you notice is the improved graphics in the amazing first cutscene. The character's hands are still a bit blocky, but who cares. Next, the soundtrack is amazing, the music is awesome, ranging from rap to rock and roll. The radio stations are abosutely hilarious. My favorites are the psycotic girl and the commercial for the show All five of us. Next, there are around 120 vehicles, including sports cars, trucks, seaplane, and a HELICOPTER! like a police maverick or VCN maverick. And if that isn't your style, just steal a tank from the air base. The weapons range from pistols to M4's, to bazooka and minigun. The 308. sniper is awesome because it has a laser. Also, you can now buy condos and ice cream factories. You can buy car dealerships, taxi companies, and movie studios. And that's just the tip of the iceburg. It gives you no other feeling like flying a helicopter listening to rock songs with $1,000,000. There aren't many things that come to mind that bother me. The only minorly bad things are repetitive pedestrian voice overs, and a useless glare on cars. But those don't even begin to affect it's score. Please get this game immediately. Do yourself a favor and buy it straight away.

Wow. This is the best game I have ever played

This game is just simply spectacular. If you are not into violent games you can just roam around the city driving different cars. Or if you are. You go on with a shootout with the police using an assortment of weapons including a golf club, a chain saw and a flaming cocktail..or a machine gun..just about everything is at your disposal. It is surprisingly fun doing hitman missions for rich people in Vice CIty. You can also just do pizza missions or other things. This game is just so vast. ALso their is a whole radio in the game. There are countless songs and radio talkshows (by the way Wildstyle is the best!). Their is also great video between the missions. You can also grab hookers if your into that sort of thing. I could just go on and on about this game but i wont because it would take a couple of pages. It is just really fun to take turns playing this with your buddies. GO out and pick it up since it is only 20 bucks now

From Jan Hammer to Ray Liotta, this game has it all!

In the vein of Rockstar's 'in your face/ playable violence' platforms, Vice City of the Grand Theft Auto series is still the best. Even after the successful launch and premiere of San Andreas, the awkwardly loveable characters and 80's atmosphere breathe a life of chaos that borderlines heaven.

You start off in Vice City after a drug bust goes bad, as Tommy (Liotta, in one of the best voice overs ever) you assume the role of working your way up to the top a la Brian De Palma's 1983 picture, Scarface. From machetes to machine guns, mo-peds to sports cars... you can be either Caldrone or Crockett, assuming you understand the catch.

Vice City, the city in the game itself, is filled with throwbacks and near to perfect recreations Miami locales. The references to everything 80's and anything mobster film is such a perfect blend that it is by far more entertaining than any film out there.

Controls are as solid and what anyone should expect of the Rockstar series. The game has it's errors and bugs that show up every now and then, but are minimal at best. Auto aim and hand to hand combat is literally no assembly required and should please even the non gamer.

What is key to the game is one of the best soundtracks in both video games and film. Toto, Rick James, The Outfield, Flock of Seagulls, and even Jan Hammer all contribute to creating a captivating 80's lifestyle with the best of the best tunes from the radio heydays. Gamers will probably find themselves cruising around at night--just to listen to the songs!

With a storyline that never dries up, a city that remains to be toppled (even after the infinite possibilities offered in San Andreas), and a best selling soundtrack Vice City reigns as the best of the Grand Theft Autos and with little surprise. How many people have always wanted to be Crockett or Tubbs or a Tony Montana wannabe? I know the latter is true.

If you haven't played this, then you're missing out. Forget the PS3 or the Wii this season, this game is still where it's at. Go... play.

I Still Throw This One In!

My personal favorite in the series; Just the right length, the right location, the right era with that Scarface/Miami Vice feel, the blaring 80's soundtrack...One of the few games I go back to about every year or so; Challenging on many levels but not frustrating(well....hmmm...the remote helicopter was a chore at first...). Love the weather changes, the neon, the colorful cast of characters and the A grade voice work by alot of cool actors; The car selection was choice, too...There is no feeling compared to the first time I was driving 80mph in the rain listening to 'Obsession', trying to outrun the cops...Great story, too. This game has the whole package...STILL!

New to GTA? Where have you been?

I'll begin by admitting, I've never been an advid fan of GTA, I think I only watched someone play the first one, it looked kind of fun, but that was it. My cousin introduced me to GTA III, which I spent almost a whole day (yes, almost 20 hours playing it) for the first time, after that I decided to get a PS2 and got me GTA Vice City. The game is FUN! I don't understand how some people can give this game bad reviews, yes, it has some glitches sometimes, yes, some missions are a pain, and yes, ALL the stuff you have to do to complete the game 100% might be overwhelming at first. But, with all that, this is a game that will keep you occupied for quite a long time, I still play it even though I've done most of the stuff the game requires for the simple fact that it's a good time killer. Why is it so good? Well, you have a great handful of missions, two islands to explore, 100 hidden items to look for, 35 rampages to beat, some races, some RC toy races, insane stunts to complete, taxi missions, ambulance missions, cop missions and even delivering pizza, ha! Vehicles? There's a vast array of those, sports cars, old cars, buses, cop cars, ambulances, fire trucks, SUVs, jeeps, motocycles, 18-wheelers, vans, even the oh so amazing...HELICOPTERS! Weapons? Yes sir, brass knuckles, machetes, knives, cleavers, baseball bats, screw drivers, katanas, clubs, chainsaws, guns, machine guns, mini guns, flame throwers, rocket launchers, SNIPER RIFLES...I may have forgotten others, but seriously, do you need more? Go and get this game, I've seen the USED price and it's more than worth it if you want to come along the GTA bandwagon.

This game rocks...

Just saying that I beat the PC version before I beat the PS2 version. Although the ps2 version is good, the PC version is much better because the graphics are not washed out like on the PS2. They are much clearer and plus you can add your own music...

a true masterpiece

When i think back of all the games i've played over the years, vice city sticks out as one of them, and for good reason too.

This game is just a masterpiece hands down, i probably played this over 1000 hours just because it never got boring.

Grand theft auto: vice city

The first time I popped in Vice-city, I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed. It felt, well, exactly the same as GTA3. About 12 hours later, I must say that this is definitely an improvement over the previous version. This game is like crack, it's so addictive!

Graphics: Slightly improved. They aren't terrible, as some reviewers are saying, but they are as good as the last version. It's not so much the game that is limited, it's that the hardware (PS2) is limiting, especially with a game so full of constant movement. There are areas of notable improvement, though: the water is now transparent, and you can see the bottom, as opposed to the gray mush that was Vice City's harbor. The sunsets and lens flares add a nice touch.

Sound: Great. The soundtrack is huge, and while I didn't love all of the 80's songs they put on, it's solid. The game sounds are good also, especially the different engine sounds.

Control: This is my least favorite part of the game. While the targeting system is better, the control of the main character is still jerky. It's not smooth, and the guy feels like he can only go in straight lines and do 90 degree turns. Why can't this guy handle like characters on sports games do?

Content/Replay: Fantastic. This is the meat of the game, and it doesn't disappoint. The game is huge, the story is good and really involving (hint: real estate!), and the voice overs are good also. The addition of motorcycles and helicopters alone would have warranted the purchase of this game, but all the extras (indoor areas, more boats, etc) are icing on the cake.
