Don't Let the Smooth Title Fool Ya

You gotta be kiddin' me. What a sorry excuse to use the GoldenEye title to sell games. Automatically, gamers will think about the original GoldenEye for the N64 (...)to this day in comparison to other shooter multiplayer games. If I wanted to see cartoons, I'd watch Bugs Bunny. This game took a major step backwards. Nothing seems lifelike. Forget about stealth. You can basically go blasting through levels without any thought and make it through with little resistence. This is another game I rented and returned the next day. Why can't anyone make a decent James Bond game?

This game Sucks

The graphics suck.
There is close to no storyline.
It has no James Bond elements, no stealth.
Its gameplay is fun for the first few levels, maybe a mission or two, until it starts to sag, it's way to repetitive.

So what's going for this game, its title, what I'm thinking is obvious so I won't dwell into it. The game has too much of a me-too attitude with all the things it stole from Halo. As for the two - no wait three (god almighty that's a big number) things the creators say makes the game an exercise in originality will be bashed as thus. The Golden eye, holy-mother of uselessness! Oh you can see trough walls, what are you gonna do about it? The mag-rail gun, that can shoot through walls, that makes this a perfect combo, only appears frickin' twice for me. What's that about? The shield is really the only useful thing, but because the games so easy, you don't even need it. But it comes in use sometimes if you want it. The weapon hacker is totally useless, because you have to hack a weapon twice so it completely stops working; otherwise they still shoot at you, although the shots spew wildly, some hit their mark. Finally, the magnetic field one-hit kill and toss is pretty ineffective when you're facing a room of enemies, and takes up too much of your eye gouge (did I mention you can't use this whenever you'd like). The second thing this game boasts is the death traps. DO I EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY ARE! Jesus Christ! While taking the time to aim at them, you'll be shot up, not to mention you don't even know what they are. I missed lie what must have been a totally useless fifty death traps. The third thing is Evil AI, the power full enemies talk and yell t each other like where you are, and use limited strategy against you, they can hide and move randomly, still this doesn't save the game. And the yells become unbelievably annoying when they starts going "He's got duel weapons" and what gun you're holding! Taking hostages is the limit of your evil, which I didn't really do because I either wanted to hold on to duel wield, or wanted to hold my one handed weapon. Also, the game boasts "original weapons - never before seen in the bond universe." Since when is a rocket launcher original! Also since when is having one gun that never runs out of bullets equipped always original. Throw me a bone here!

Just don't get this game in good judgment, just move on, if you're a James bond fan, there isn't much bond but get it, because I respect your love of the franchise, that's not my place to criticize, but the game is a low-rate shooter.

Also it's short and easy.

P.S., the person who thought this game was hard on easy - what r u smoking, r u retarded, Jesus! What r u playing without a controller.

Why?

I loved the first goldeneye for nintendo 64. i consider it one of the best games ever. So I thought this would be cool. wrong. ea ruined the series and gave it a bad name. im hugely dissapointed and im not even picky.

Give it up EA,This game is not as good as the original Goldeneye!

this game is like a copy off halo or some futureistic game. there is no james bond feel at all! there's hardly any missions and weapons. it's like bond turned into crazy assasin. there are no weapons that were from the movie. they're all just made up future stuff. also the bonuses are stupid. like you can see through walls and have an invisible shield!!! also whenever you lose some life you gain it right back in a few seconds. and then there are all the spaceships and crap. DONT BY THIS GAME!!!!

OOF............

its a average game this but the only reason i only gave it 3 stars is because the graphics are rubbish an the game is just too hard me personaly im not bothered about bad graphics but i am bothered about gameplay ihad it on normal and the first level was absoultely soild so i change it to easy nd it was still hard (i couldnt imagine it on hard) the game hasnt really got a good storyline either i would rent it before you buy it because you might make a big mastake if you dont like it

O.K.

When I first got this game, I was addicted to it. I only wished I could play multiplayer more often (there's no bots).
Listen, I wanna give this game a four. It's just so fun! But there are numorous things that hold this game back from glory. Here's the breakdown:

Good:
.All the weapons you would expect, as well as some suprises
.For the most part, good multiplayer maps.
.Once upon a 2004-2006, there was online for this game
.DUEL WIELDING!!!!!!!!
.Uplink, Golden Gate Bridge, and Funhouse just rock

Bad:
.some glitches (no game freezes so far though, and one glitch is really interesting...see my discussion "GoldenEye Glitches")
.Single-player gets repetitive after a while, some levels too long
.thanks to the great planners at EA (yeah right), online has been shut down for PS2 as of 11/17/06 (PS3 launch)

You may notice the lack of "bad" things. The reason I give this game a three and not a four is because there isn't anything in this game that another game doesn't do better. But this game is still really fun, and you should rent it (for GC, PS2, Xbox). Peace out :).

Goldeneye: Not that evil

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent comes out on all major platforms (yes it does). First of all, i give this game a 7.5 on a scale from 1 to 10 and i give halo 2 a 8.5. The reason is the two games are very similar. You can duel wield weapons and throw grenades when you hand is empty. In Rogue Agent your starting weapon, a pistol, has unlimited ammo and is holstered when you change weapons as are your grenades. This is one thing i like better than halo 2 you can hold 4 weapons (including your grenades and pistol) when duel wielding. The makers of this game were very lazy in that this "rogue agent" cannot jump so they do not have to do much in directing you where to go. The story of the campaign is good but there are only 8 levels. The campaign is short but longer than you might think as some of the levels seem to go on forever. Although the graphics are not great, the levels look good and the voice of the enemies is good as it is in the short movies. The campaign is not really that fun. The halo 2 campaign is also not great as it seems so much like the first game. The makers of Goldeneye made a mistake like did the makers of halo 2 as you health or energy bar recharges. This makes a otherwise fun splitscreen less so. If one person is better he can just kill the other and regenerate his health and in the moderately difficult campaign you can just duck for cover to regain you health. The multiplayer is fun and exciting like is halo's plus there are a nice assortment of weapons to dispose of your enemies. This would make online play very fun, although i have not tried it. One more thing about splitscreen and multiplayer: WHAT HAPPENED TO COOPERATIVE MISSIONS? This is always fun to play with a friend but they are not there. Oh yeah, your eye. The powers can be fun sometimes but in a battle with your friends they can be annoying (like whats the point of you both becoming invincible for 5 seconds and regaining all you health). Deathtraps in some levels they add something special to the game but in others they affect the whole playing style (a bad thing) as two enemies stand across a pit scared to move forward as both of them have their EM hack aimed at the button to activate the deathtrap. The physics of the game is good except when you are exploded, you seem rather stiff. The "EVIL" A.I. was hyped and it is good but not, that good. Another thing (that effects the campaign) is that enemies are all the same except have varying levels of armor. In the game you are not that evil all you do is take hostages for shields and throw people off the edge. Speaking of which i like the hand to hand combat system. Ok finally, thank you for reading my review and a final note: if you liked those halo and halo 2 parties where 4 - 8 people come over, x-boxes are linked, and all you do is play halo 2 or halo then a Rogue Agent party would be just as fun.
