Ruling the world with your Goldeneye!

Well, as a big James Bond fan, I have been waiting for this game for a very long time. After playing the new Everything or Nothing game, I was very excited to see what EA Games was going to cook-up next. I haven't bought the game (yet), but I did try it at a friend's house, and I was stunned in both a good way, and a bad way.

On the first level of single player, you're a 00 agent being transported in a chopper with 007. You have to stop Goldfinger from detonating a bomb inside Fort Knox (sound familiar?). The intro clip shows your chopper crashing through the roof of Fort Knox, killing Bond (?!). That's where you come in.

Here's the bad stuff. Your primary handgun may have infinite ammo, but it isn't that accurate. In the later levels, enemies take way too many shots (2 shots from a double-barreled shotgun!), and sometimes it seems near impossible to get through certain areas alive. The graphics aren't all that good, the storyline moves waaay too fast, you don't know whether or not you are aiming at an enemy, the enemies take each other as a human shield, there are only three modes in multiplayer, and, to top it all off, there are only two guns in the whole game that have manual aim! Yikes!!

Now, for the good. You have infinite lives, it's cool taking enemies hostage, and you have the option of turning auto aim off so you can shoot those barrels beside that patroling guard. Oh, and you don't have to worry about killing civilians or the wrong person because you're a bad guy. It doesn't matter! Also, the game can be played online (but not for Gamecube :-( ), and you have pretty sweet goldeneye gadgets, like a temporary shield against bullets and see enemies through walls. These devices can be used in multiplayer, and multiplayer courses are actual locations from other Bond movies (like the Golden Gate bridge from A View to a Kill). Because of all the enemies, weapons, and environment hazards that you can use to your advantage, I would describe this game as a giant gunfight; just one big shootfest!

Despite all the bad stuff, this is a pretty good game, and I recommend it to any James Bond or First Person Shooter fans.

One of the funnest games I've played in a while

I got this game for x-mas and I played it till I was about half way through. It is a great game. The levels are nice and you don't find yourself in the same setting for long coughhalo2cough. The reason it has gotten bad reviews is because people are comparing it to the n64 goldeneye, well, its nothing like it. I dont think it would be wise for EA to imitate a 7~8 year old n64 game (the origional goldenye was awsome though). Anyway, the reason I gave this 4 stars is because there isnt much varity of gameplay. Just fps shooting (which is fun). I havnt got all the way through the game yet so I dont know this for a fact, but i'm pretty sure. All and all I would reccomend this game to any fps fan.

yeah, this game is pretty awesome. This is pretty much what u do for all the levels- get an uzi in each hand and just blow dudes away left and right.Seriously u take on about 100 people in each level and amazingly win.But if u dont no what yur doin u will die real quick. There some real hard levels but this game is great to play with a friend when ur hanging out. The two player is about the coolest for any shoOter iv ever seen. U have a choice of at least ten awesome places and u can modify what guns u what, time,# of kills blah blah.U can play it for hours just going one on one . THe weapons are the best part of the game to me. Heres a little bit of your arsenel-uzis(probably one of the best guns in the game),assualt rifles, rocket launchers(1 hit kill),lazer rifles(one hit kills),remote detonation bomb pistols(u shoot a bomb on someone and then press fire again to blow thier hineys sky high),grenades, mag rails(these babies jsut pretty much just shoot rails of steel at people and impale the mess out of em,one hit killer), and of course the famous goldengun, in multiplayer.one more thing-if you have seen the matrix u no the part where hes on the helicopter and hes coming to save morpheus and he has like a minigun- well theres one just like that in the game. yeah didd i mention u can have a gun in each hand, which is so awesome its unbelievable.if u buy this game, which u probably will if your reading this, the best gun combo is definately a mag rail and an uzi. another good one is two pistols, just taking em out old western style.
ok so

PROS-Gansterfabulous rambo scarface gameplay.Lets be honest though its so impossible to kill like twenty dudes in the same room with u, but in this game u can do it with ease.

-one on one showdown awesome multiplayer(the best iv ever seen since the original goldeneye on that little ghetto N64.

-AWESOME GRAPHICS

-supergangster arsenal of firepower

-youll play it for hours with friends

-little hint- the best multiplayer level is the funhouse if u buy this game

CONS-some of the levels are really hard on one player.youll be stuck in alot of situations where its u against like twenty guys with assualt rifles all in one room and all u have is a little sissy pistol. u litterly have to avoid most of that gunfire and whoop one guys butt real quick, steal his gun and then try to take out like the other twenty guys. it will take u twenty trys sometimes just to get thru one section of a level.

-there arent that many health packs. u pretty much have this one little bar of health and u have to be real careful or youll die real quick. but ur health slowly regenrates, and there is armor u can take off jacked up carcasses u have demolished(just kidding the dudes dissapear once u waste em)

well thats about it. all in all this is a great game to get if your just starting off with a ps2 or ur a old veteran. its the funnest game i have to play with friends so get it fo sure.

I think this game is very fun, but it does indeed need a little help on the graphics. Everyone likes to say it sucks cuz it doesn't have anything to do with N64's goldeneye. Well.......GO FIGURE, you're comparing an oldschool N64 game (which was the original and i have it) to somthing that u think its copying! It have some pretty cool guns in it also. And everyone is saying it still isn't better than Halo or Halo 2. WELL DUH!!!! No one will probably evey be able to beat the Halo series, but it still is a good game in comparison.

P.S. I waited for a while to get the game and i ordered it from amazon, and it was only $10.00+S&H used, so if you're lookin' to buy it, look here!

Granted, this is a very fun game, but it doesn't really make sense. It is pretty innovational that you can play as a rogue 00 Agent against the MI6. This is one of those games in which you have to not pay attention to the storyline and just play the game.

A lot of things don't make sense. First of all, all of the characters in the game were killed by James Bond in the movies. Next, if you are playing as a Bond villain, then why are you trying to kill other Bond villains. You can't even call this a "Bond" video game. He is killed (?!?) in the opening cutscene of the very first mission. The Bond villains don't even mention his name at all. The story is somewhat strange. And finally, the gameplay is very linear. Unlike in other Bond 1st-Person video Games, instead of being allowed to go around and accomplish other objectives, the only thing you can do in this game is go forward along the path of enemies and just kill. That's all you really have to do in the missions, just kill, move on, and kill.

On the good side, the graphics are pretty good and the weapons are interesting. One thing EA brought back from Goldeneye for N64 is the ability to carry two weapons, and not just two of the same kind, but two different kinds.

All in all, this is an average "Bond"/"Anti-Bond" shooting game. My advice is to enjoy it and accept it for what it is.

This game will feature modes in story-driven campaign missions, deathmatch style simulator trials, and objective-based war games. It will be featured massivelly online. It has amazing guns to the game. It will take place in Switzerland to the streets of Hong Kong and from Fort Knox to Dr. No's Crab Key lair in the Carribean. The emenies will react intelligently in combat situations and use the environment to their advantage for intense and unpredictable shootouts. So this game will be a good worth franchised game.

should make a movie out of it

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent comes out on all major platforms (yes it does). First of all, i give this game a 7.5 on a scale from 1 to 10 and i give halo 2 a 8.5. The reason is the two games are very similar. You can duel wield weapons and throw grenades when you hand is empty. In Rogue Agent your starting weapon, a pistol, has unlimited ammo and is holstered when you change weapons as are your grenades. This is one thing i like better than halo 2 you can hold 4 weapons (including your grenades and pistol) when duel wielding. The makers of this game were very lazy in that this "rogue agent" cannot jump so they do not have to do much in directing you where to go. The story of the campaign is good but there are only 8 levels. The campaign is short but longer than you might think as some of the levels seem to go on forever. Although the graphics are not great, the levels look good and the voice of the enemies is good as it is in the short movies. The campaign is not really that fun. The halo 2 campaign is also not great as it seems so much like the first game. The makers of Goldeneye made a mistake like did the makers of halo 2 as you health or energy bar recharges. This makes a otherwise fun splitscreen less so. If one person is better he can just kill the other and regenerate his health and in the moderately difficult campaign you can just duck for cover to regain you health. The multiplayer is fun and exciting like is halo's plus there are a nice assortment of weapons to dispose of your enemies. This would make online play very fun, although i have not tried it. One more thing about splitscreen and multiplayer: WHAT HAPPENED TO COOPERATIVE MISSIONS? This is always fun to play with a friend but they are not there. Oh yeah, your eye. The powers can be fun sometimes but in a battle with your friends they can be annoying (like whats the point of you both becoming invincible for 5 seconds and regaining all you health). Deathtraps in some levels they add something special to the game but in others they affect the whole playing style (a bad thing) as two enemies stand across a pit scared to move forward as both of them have their EM hack aimed at the button to activate the deathtrap. The physics of the game is good except when you are exploded, you seem rather stiff. The "EVIL" A.I. was hyped and it is good but not, that good. Another thing (that effects the campaign) is that enemies are all the same except have varying levels of armor. In the game you are not that evil all you do is take hostages for shields and throw people off the edge. Speaking of which i like the hand to hand combat system. Ok finally, thank you for reading my review and a final note: if you liked those halo and halo 2 parties where 4 - 8 people come over, x-boxes are linked, and all you do is play halo 2 or halo then a Rogue Agent party would be just as fun.

The game is fun and all but it could probably get boring after a while.I was glued to the ps2 for 3 hours and by the time i got off i had ot on the last level.the graphics are not that good but the gameplay is exciting. For some reason Scaramanga is Goldeneyes Q even though he gave you the goldeneye by shooting youre real one out.i like to take hostages and throw them into fire 20 feet below but i never noticed the whole EVIL thing the physics are not good but some times it can be funny to shoot barrelson elevated platforms where enemy bots are hiding with a bazooka and see all the FLYING carcasses fall into the rocky gorge below.Bad physics make the game a little bit more entertaining for example i shot a mine onto an enemys chest and then detonated it while his back was facing a 200 foot fall off a dam and he paused and then was tossed so fast i could hardly see it.And another example threw a grenade behind a desk where an enemy was hiding and then 3 mangled corpses come saliding out of the desk like somebody would slide a book across a florr.Pretty Entertaining. But EA made a masterpiece out of this compared to Everything or Nothing{the worst bond game.AI bots arnt as smart as there supposed to be they can communicate at least. But it is more violent then any other ps2 bond game{a good thing]I would this game a 4.5 instead of a 3 just because all the unneccesary destuction and all the overly elaborat and exotic deaths

Why?

I loved the first goldeneye for nintendo 64. i consider it one of the best games ever. So I thought this would be cool. wrong. ea ruined the series and gave it a bad name. im hugely dissapointed and im not even picky.
