If you are familiar with the stereotypical 1950's in the US, this is a great game. There are a tonne of "inside" jokes, told from the Australian staff's point of view.

The basic plot is that in the dim, dark past when the human race was young, we were somehow contaminated with Furon DNA. Furons have been through a number of wars and the wars, as well as endless cloning, have weakened Furon DNA - so they need it. It is currency, and it is the most important thing that Crypto produces - and it gets harder for him to get any as time goes on.

When you think of this relationship, that Crypto's race is warlike, that they need this DNA for survival, that they are sneaky filth who would never negotiate with us in good faith because we, in general, disgust them (we eat with our mouths, and we had the nerve to dissect one we captured, and they despise weakness and negotiation (the one negotiation they are willing to accept is the acceptance of a surrender) the entire plot makes sense from a sort of science fiction way.

Finally, they know almost nothing about us. They monitor our TV and our thoughts and most of those are lies - intentional or unintentional fiction.

But there are some stages that are just plain random: Say the stage where you escort the nuke from the air force side of Area 42 to the Majestic side where Armquist was, in an attemopt to kill him. The first part is easy - you holobob someone by the truck, and then go to the gate - there will be a truck through in time for you to maintain your "holobob". There will be marchers that you can siphon while walking to the driver and if you charge full before you hypnotize him, and quickly implant the "drive the truck" order, then shift to one of the scientists and scan to boost your weakened brain (all easy) you can get out of the base by following the truck to the gate and PKing the activation button. Scan the guards before or after or both.

Now you have a long march in front of the truck - you need to push cows away. push uniformed soldiers, and rocks. The road is mined - and you have to get in front of the truck and block it as you sweep the road - with a disintegrator - or with a zap gun since you don't need to look for charges.

After this tedious walk, you can have one of several fights - you can get squads of soldiers (which rip through your health quickly, have to be hit 2-3 bullets, you can get 1 or 2 tanks - and tanks can kill you very quickly - you need to bomb them or PK them fast - 2 means you will probably be hit once killed by one of the Majestic agents.

Or you might just get a couple squads of soldiers. PK away any barriers. Depending on what you have more of, take the towers down with 20 destroyer rockets or one red lobbing grenade. Sometimes you can take a squad of soldiers and a tower at once.

Now, the soldier tries to drive the A-Bomb through the base to ground zero. Randomly, he might have a clear path - or a bunch of things might block him - like a tank turns to shoot you and blocks him - and stops - so you have to run up and PK the tank away - a grenade might be safer, but it might break the truck.

Finally, if the driver parks the truck, the people at the base try to (reasonably) disarm it. While moving around a lot to avoid being hit by shots, you have to zap or disintegrate the disarmers - it only takes a quarter second to kill one but the disintegrator might or might not be a better weapon against stronger opponents. If you have upgraded your zapper, it can hold 4 people in place while it is killing them - and that means that they can't be killing you - while if you try to do them with a disentegrator, the first one can be frying, disarm techs take 1 shot, troopers probably take 2, and Majestic agents take three. It is not simple to change weapons, you have to wind through whatever is in the list. And a crowd or a tank gets a grenade.

So depending on forces, you are changing weapons and hoping to survive long enough to get the "Run away from ground zero" message.

I have run through this game twice. The second time, I knew to run to the closed gate (and how to scan through the crack if I had to, while waiting for a truck) no there simply were no decisions - just pk push, sweep mins with the electric zapper - until we got to the gate - and I died nine times, after making it through on the third try my first play. The ninth time, I simply got AIs who were bad shots and I got soldiers clustered by the base of the towers, so that the grenades reduced the soldier population. Once in the base, I hid in the open buildingz and even holobobbed a little and no one needed to be cleared from in front of the truck. I was able to plan who I had to fry first (agents holding green guns, then tanks, then those tall robots, if any, is my scheme.

But there was five minutes or more when there was no save opportunity. There should have been a save right st the end of the minefield. 10 repeads of boring action that can't really go wrong - I guess I could try to anal-extract all the soldier's brains or something else stupid - but there is really no chance of death until you get to the gate.

50 minutes of boring setup, 10 minutes of gameplay. Sometimes you get hit by 2-3 shots at once and you are just a headline and there is nothing you can do about it - and there is nothing you can do to force a save. Saves are only possible aboard ship - generally when you are getting auto-saved anyway.

Crypto can get DNA in one of three ways: He can find an random probe. The one on top of the Washington monument would be a real coup, as would the one on the third floor of the octagon. He can use his mental powers on a human, live or dead, to extract their brain. But he gets his best yields when he fires a fully charged anal probe at a human.

I've challenged myself a few times - I've taken the police force to 50% in the stage that requires that just using the anal probe so I could see if it could be done. I did the stage with crypto recovering the crashed saucer with no gun or saucer upgrades (except for the upgrades to the death ray), again, to see how important those upgrades were.

Sometimes, the game is just random. You are following Armquist's car to the meeting in uniontown. 3 of 4 times, you will round the corner in front of a Majestic agent and the holobob will collapse. Can you PK him off into the sky or into a wall, and holobob someone else before anyone notices?

When you do a push on the agent that collapsed you and then run, 9 times out of 10 it works. That 10th time, two Majestic cars pull up in front of you and start shooting - before you have a chance.

Crypto has a shield and a body layer. The two second regen is all in the shield - any body damage is fatal. It makes no sense unless you think of it in this way, and it makes only a little sense that way.

If exploding heads bother you, and if any reference to anal brain stem extraction makes you nervous, select a different title.

Finally, a couple of interesting points: You have to break into the main lab a couple times, once to rescue the captured crypto, once to kill the mutants. In both cases, you throw a bomb at the entrance and the people inside spill out - turning off the barrier.

First time, I jumped to the top of the first building by the entrance to reload mines and disentegrators - and to take out the teslas - and when I jumped over the building to get the DNA probe, the people in the building saw me and ran off - and I had no way to get in. I tried holobobbing off base and waiting until the alert completely dropped - and bombs bu the door never got me escapers - I had to load a save point.

Same rescue, there is a bluff to the left of the area.

1. Walk to the bluff, taking out guns with placed explosives and disintegrator.

2. Lob one grenade into the second area (guarded by 1 Majestic) and the third (guarded by two majestics and a guard tower - single grenade gets them all.

3. Use disintegrators to take down the towers adjacent to the opening on your left.

5. Kill as many rocket launchers as you can reach.

6. Jump down (use launcher) and sink fast so that they shoot over you - grab first piece and run between building and fence - as soon as you pass over the fence turn left and fly over rocks - pick up that piece, then run right - while watching for mines pick up 2 - holobob someone and pick up 3. I run back to my ship to relax and reload - I'll need a soldier holobob to get on base and the easiest one to get is one of my guards - since I don't want them to run off searching, I holobob past them.

7. Holobob and hypnotize the buy by the gate to let me in - any Majestic I can't get past, I Pk push as far as I can. Then scan quickly - it works - even if you drop holobob for a sec. Now I sneak to the right with a full charge - there are a bunch of majextic agents guarding the last one so that calls for a grenade - drop the disguise and wait a sec then fire a grenade into the area, blow it, another grenade for each tower.

8. Run up the road depending on the bad marksmanship of the Majestic agents. If you get a tank, you will have to use a grenade.

9. You can fly up to the first building to get the heal, the +3 grenades and the +25 disentrgrator.

10. Put one of those heavy grenades right into the front door - in good faith, I don't kill the escapers.

11. You are now in and almost done - you have to attack and destroy the artifacts, and fend off at least three green armed (with the nasty goo) mobs. I've tried both thre zap and the disentegrator, the zap is hard to line up right.

If you die? Just because you were at your saucer did not mean you could save. I developed this "backwards" fast scheme of getting thall the saucer pieces because the way the game is designed, you holobob to the first one, and use a distraction. Then you get the second one by approaching under holobob and fighting out. Then you go over the wall and run straight up the road - I ended up fighting a lot of tanks. The fourth one was hardest because the multiple forays and time got the alert level higher. The last one was harder because they seemed to organize around it (or maybe it was just random). The point is that at any point, you can be surrounded and flying away does not work when there are tanks - tanks can be dangling from the abducto bem, being spun around and they can still hit you - They can hit you while being suspended in the air and being dropped - just as long as they still have hit points.

There are tons of different ways of doing things in this game - and that is one of the strong points. There is a Majestic car that you are supposws ro turn over with PK and the walkthroughs say you have to have the upgrade or you can't do this stage - I let the car get to the TV station, and tore the car up with regular weapons, then I took the briefcase.

When you have to defend the towers, you may do so from your saucer or your body. I've succeeded three times, and every one was on foot, but all the writeups say that this must be done from the saucer.

The game was great fun. The double boss fight at the end was hard - but the saucer part simply required that you knew which buildings shed healing disks and where they were - while the ground fight required that you PK away the anti-tech devices, then use disegrators on anything but the boss, and use grenades on the boss.

If the description of the fighting mechanics does not drive you away, you enjoy mild problem solving, this might be a great game. I you are upset because the little grey man can take on a squad of marines so long as there is not armor - and they can bet each other 200 DNA that a dozen womwn can be killed in 90 seconds - if you can turn it off and just make it into a black humor game, it is a funny, well done, that pays open homage to Plan 9 and other of that ilk.

But if you can't get over the large scale death, destruction, dying and casual attitude about removing brain stems, well, don't play Katamari Damacy, either.

What can I say!?

What CAN I say!!?? Hmmm how to put this game into simple words....?? okay heres a good start! EXCELLENT, FUNNY, SIMPLE EASY and CHALLENGING but far too SHORT and LITTLE TO DO!!! There!
Right i'm not tryin to give this game a bad review, I honestly liked it!! For a peroid of time!! All the hype for it and believe me it lived up to it - for a while!! lol. Brilliant idea too. (developers should be looking for weird twists rather thn the same usual shoot em ups or 3rd person shooters!!) Loved it too bits, completed it in a fortnight went back for a free-roam did some pointless, yet fun, side-missions got bored of it but it back in its case and never played it since!! It just gets boring quick for me, thts all!!Probaablly alot of people like the game! I mean for me 4 guns is HARDLY entertaning!! But come on folks, a highly advanced, CARTOON, ailen with a brain 10 times the size of us and they send ONE ailen with THREE guns and a probe!! I mean if i was too go to war with Earth i'd send at least a small group of ailens with LOTS of gizmos for them to kill their target(s)! But thats just me. I require lots of excitment and GUNS!! lol. Some ideas for the game were brilliant like lifting people up and throwing them away and the disintigrater gun(everyones favourite). The missions made alot of sense and I admired the martians humour of seeing things through their eyes! "Lactaing beast, covered in nipples" (a cow) lol. Sheer Brilliance!
It might not be a benchmark in gaming history but it will surely help smaller developers come aout of their shells showing that humour CAN be used in any game!! even in a shoot em....erm, zap em up game!! I wont forget it when im older but I hope they make a sequal and all they have to do is ADD MORE WAYS OF KILLING AND DESTROYING STUFF! Nothing else needs redone! The voice actors were awesome! Some thoughts and sayings were hilaurious! "I love a man in uniform!....oh wait a minute I AM ONE!!" Scan a cop n chances are he'll think that! lol. Most funny things came from Pox though! The story was great but a bit too short for the likes of me and the graphics were SUPERB!! The only downside in the graphics was that after you zapped someone they just fell to the floor!! lol. I mean shouldnt you be smelling burning human flesh and see smoke coming off their torched bodies!!
Anyways, a very good game, entertaining for a while and its good enough too go back too when you forget the gameplay cause thats wot i'm doing!! I'll go back to it when im bored of my other games! But not very likely i mean who'd get bored of pro evo 4?!? lol!

OUT...

Probably one of the best games iv'e ever played!!! Especially because you now have the point of view of the alien, and their story, rather than the human's point of view. Destroy all humans is the most creative game i have ever played!!!
