Triple Play

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 14 / 28

This should be the best baseball game for this year and for the triple play series. I'm a cubs fan and high heat has sammy, but i played it and it bombed big time. Triple Play is the most exciting game because of it's pitching and hitting modes and now that it's got Babe Ruth I wouldn't choose any other game.

Best Computer Baseball Game You Can Buy

Triple Play 2001, like all Triple Plays before it, is amazing. I recommend the PC version over the Playstation version because the PC version actually has a more accurate and up to date roster. Also, if you own the PC version, EA Sports website offers a free patch sometime in late April or early June, that you can download and update the rosters to make them even more accurate. If you can choose between the PC or Playstation versions, get the PC version. Much, much more entertaining.

Excellent for beginners and experts

A terrific game. In its "Rookie" mode it's easy to learn and play for beginners; in more advanced modes it's realistically challenging. The graphics are excellent and the action is realistic. Players can be traded or drafted for fantasy play, and there is a program by which one can enter themselves as a player with a scanned photo. Five stars all around.

Don't believe the hype

The tv commercial for Triple Play 2001 is deceiving; it shows Ken Griffey, Jr. hitting a homerun while wearing a Reds jersey, unfortunately, on the PlayStation version, he's still a Mariner and you have to trade for him. This is minor, but it matters if you're a hardcore enthusiast. Also, despite what you hear, the graphics are not nearly as good as they were in Triple Play 2000; they are now more cartoonish, and the signature batting styles for certain players is missing in this latest version. Also, it is much harder to control your fielders when you're on defense; balls hit up the middle or to the outfield that should be easy to reach, are not. And, like with other Triple Plays, striking out the computer controlled players is very difficult. Still, despite it's many flaws, the Triple Play series is the best there is. So if you're dying to play a baseball game on your PC or PlayStation, this is as good as it gets.

What an improvement!

The PC version of this game has improved dramatically as the players have faces and team logos on their helmets and hats. I'm also glad that EA Sports included alternate road uniforms, e.g. Mets black road jerseys and Blue Jays Blue road jerseys). I only wish that users can choose their uniforms, e.g. NHL 2000. Big League Challenge is a nice addition to the game. It's a perfect PC game as it utilitizes the mouse for batting and fielding.

Its not as good as it seems

i played this game while also renting its top rival"MLB 2001". Although Triple Play 2001 has cool teams and the added players, it was not nearly as good as MLB 2001, which does have Griffey with the Reds. The grafics are alot more realistic on MLB 2001 than they are in Triple Play 2001. Overall, I like MLB 2001 more so than The newest Triple Play release.

I would highly recomend Triple Play 2001 to sports lovers everywhere. Although they don't have Griffey Jr. on the Reds, you can download a roster patch on the EA Sports web site soon. This game has great graphics, including realistic details in the parks and the uniforms. Triple Play's rival MLB 2001 uses ploygons, which gives it a more box shape. Triple Play has many great modes and overall I will give it a five star rating.

A Good Game, but not 5 Stars

This game has very good graphics, but seem to be tooanimated. Microsoft Baseball 2001 has it all over this game in termsof realism. However, this game is quite entertaining and addictive. Home run tournaments with Babe Ruth and Mark McGwire are fun.. The only work this game needs is stadium graphics. A fun game, but still needs a little more work.

TP2k1-best of the year

This years version of Triple Play 2001 is the best available baseball game for the PC. It is better then High Heat baseball by a lot, as Heat is simply boring. The online play in TP2k1 makes the game worth getting. Even with a 56k modem it is still easy and fun to play online. This game captures the feeling of the majors better than any other game.

Poor graphics takes away from gameplay

I know graphics don't make a game, but in this case, with bad controls and poor gameplay, it does. I bought this game because I felt EA Sports was one of the top software companies. They still are, but I think you should look at different games before choosing this one.
