EXCELLENT GAME!!!!!!!!

Have you seen the movie and read the book? Then you need to get this game! It's so fun! And if you liked the first one, you'll love this one! This game is much improved! The graphics are better (Their mouths move this time), and the fun level has gone up tons for me! Here are the good/bad things about the game.

Good:
Graphics. Mouths move to the exact words they're saying.
Gameplay. You can do a lot more things in this one: including kicking other people in Quidditch (Always wanted to pound on my opponent in the first one).
Sound. Harry talks more than he did and I loved the sound effects.
Spells. The best spell in here is "Spongify". It gives you the abitlity to turn rugs into a trampoline-like thing temporarily.
Pretty much everything was really good, and I don't have time to list everything.

Bad:
The only thing bad was the
Music. I have a little 6-year-old brother, and the music scared the heeber-jeebers you of him. It scares me, too. What plays is an out-of-tune violin that really scares me and gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. It scares everyone. So turn down the sound when you hear it. Trust me, you'll know when it's on.

I'll rate everything now:
Graphics: 10/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Sounds: 9/10
Spells: 9/10
Music: 6/10 (Music scary however brilliant scary music)

Tips on game:
On Quidditch, kick your opponent rapaidly before he kicks you. He can't get you when you're kicking him. And they have health that takes a minute to load up.

End snake: go up close to the snake and get him with your sword. When he dives to bite you, jump away and get him in the throat.

For wizard cards, check every spot, staircases, everywhere. And the reward for getting all the wizard cards is different. You get a new level. And the new level is dang fun. Plus you get a wizard card, a GOLD one. And its _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _. Ohh.. what could it be...thus the NAME of the game...

Hope you like it...oh, you will...everyone does! Get it! Order it! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm an old fart and I love this game!

I bought this as a present for my six year old daughter. She's very good with computer games, but the challenges move much too fast for her.

However, her PARENTS love this game! :) Once we finished it, I bought copies for several of my friends.

There is absolutely no blood or gore. Even when you run out of life, you merely "faint".

We purchased the first game because we were hoping that it was more of the same, but compared to this one, it's like wading through mud. Highly disappointing.

I really don't understand why this game is in the bargin bin or why they're selling it for such a low price. I've enjoyed this much more than some of the more expensive games we've purchased.

So snap it up! You can play it, your kids can play it..and you don't have to worry about inappropriate content for anyone.

I look forward to the next one, if there is one. I can guarantee I'll buy it as soon as it comes out. Enjoy!

Great game for families of gamers.

Out of curiosity one tuesday morning, I went ahead and downloaded the demo to the Chamber of Secrets, and was pleasantly surprised. FPS-style controls, Tombraider-style movement, lots of secrets to hunt for, airy level-design and matching music. I found myself purchasing the game that very evening, for a whopping ten bucks. For a budget game, Chamber of Secrets really delivers.

First the Graphics. Lets not kid ourselves, on the Unreal engine, this is no Halo 2. You won't find Direct X 9 on the installation CD, nor will you be rushing out to buy the latest Geforce FX. (Though, Prisoner of Azkaban may be another story.) But what is there is well used. The textures are no less than amazing and beautiful. You feel as if you're actually exploring a huge and beautiful, sunlit cathedral, with a gentle music box tune in the background. (There are actually chapels in some levels that you can explore. The films are produced in a catholic monestary, and it is only fitting.) Very careful attention is paid to lighting and mood. The characters are well-animated, if cutesy, charicatures of the actors from the movies.

The gameplay is simple, but does the job. You are given the choice between Tombraider and FPS-style controls. Your wand is your only weapon, making the game feel like Jedi Academy without a lightsaber. (Force powers only! WHOOHOO!) Basic powers can sense magic or doors, push items and enemies, unlock doors, stun enemies, cut through plants and ropes, and super-jump. You can strafe, jump, grapple ledges, and climb with very smooth animations. The enemies are dangerous enough to give a challenge to most, and the jumping puzzles will have even more experienced gamers challenged. (Sometimes, for example, you'll die unless you find that secret door!)

Oh, did I mention secrets? There are so many of these that you'll probably never find them without a walkthrough. But it sure is fun to search for them. I have yet to find all the bronze cards. In pure Spyro the Dragon form, you will always have another chance to catch an item that you missed. In some cases, you can redo a level, in others, you can purchase the cards you missed from the many kiddies running around school. Though, I'm wondering if that gold card #11 does exist in JKR's vision of her world. We shall see. ;)

Not everything is perfect of course. While the game is based directly off the book, much of it is crunched up and chopped to bits to save time for the action. (As are many video-game adaptations.) And the FPS-style controls leave me wanting a little multiplayer deathmatch. Then again, all signs point to the game being mod-able thanks to the Unreal engine and console running in the background, so a hacker may have a little fun with that.

Overall, I love this game. It is a third-person-shooter, and easy for experienced gamers, but with the FPS controls, you can teach your young-uns to be kicking butt in Unreal 2k4 in no time. :)

S'okay

Well, I thought this was a well-planned game, but I have to comment that it was easy to beat. I did not like the quidditch practices, cuz if you have finished all challenges, you can't go on to the next step/task/mission without beating it (quidditch practice and match). Those were the hardest parts of the game. The boss/serpent (mythologically basilisks were also known as the cocktrice and were not large snakes but were hatched from snake eggs under the proper constellation) was very easy, which I kinda liked since the 1st game's boss was much harder. I liked the bean challenge ideas, and all the new spells. All-in-all this game is better than the first and is more convient if you really don't have a ton of time to work on it.

Better than the first

Wow, this game is better than the first. They made it longer, and more fun. Such as being able to collect beans and trade them in for new things. Also, you get to learn four new second year spells. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't follow along with the book or the movie. It goes it's own way of doing things. Otherwise I had a lot of fun playing it.

Great game!

Excellent game and lots of fun playing for kids and "big kids". Much better than 1st HP game-more freedom to move around and check things out. Great effects and very creative! Not as many places as 1st game where you get stuck and can't move on. Great game for girls! Hopefully next game will have even more ability to chat with other people along the way. Was happy that the quiditch (still very difficult) and the dueling are not required to play the game after the first try. Don't waste beans on the quiditch armor or broom: They don't seem to help you win at all.

First of all, when I write this review, Im going to totally ignore the fact that this game is about Harry Potter. Why? Because, most people are probably going to buy this game anyway, whether or not its good. So just keep that in mind as I review.

1. THE GRAPHICS: What I really love about the graphics is the excellent compatability. It has such a wide range of textures and resolutions, its hard to find a PC that cant run it. If you do have the hardware to push the details up to max, your in for a treat. The game is extremely detailed graphically. When I visited Hagrids hut, I was amazed to find a pigpen, complete with snorting moving pigs in back of his hut. I was even more amazed when I climed into the pigpen, and they attacked me! I cleverly cast "Impedementa" on them to escape. Graphically, I love it. Most of the clipping issues in the original game (walking through walls, climbing up thin air) are gone.

2. GAMEPLAY: HPATCOS gampeplay is spectacularly average. At its core, it offers solid adventuring gameplay. Extra features such as bean trading, quidditch, dueling, house points, and potion making add some depth, but are slightly shallow later in the game. By the time your 3/4 through the game, you just want to get it over with, and explore Hogwarts. Thats the best part of the game, wandering aimlessly around hogwarts. I really have to say that finishing the classes was BORING! I had much more fun just exploring hogwarts. The classes themselves are just LONG puzzles, but nothing that cant be easily solved. You end up doing 20-30 action packed puzzles per class, which can get pretty boring. The gameplay is, as I said, average.

3. SOUND AND MUSIC: Adapting the amazing musical pieces to the game was done very well. Whenever you enter a fightscene, the bass BOOMS! I have a subwoofer under my desk, and It was quite something to explore the forbidden forest with all the creepy music!

PROS: Great graphics, very compatible, high replay factor, easy to learn, great music,

CONS: It will take a very good computer to run it at its highest settings, not much depth, too short, BAD final fightscene,

OVERALL: Even if your only a casual HP fan, this game stands its own as a solid adventure title.

This is the best game ever!! Even though I bought this gme a long time ago I love it. Me and my sister (Johanna - 19 yrs old)play it for hours. It is very exciting. I some times get scared.I thought it was really cool with all the secrets and challenges (and going into the girls bathroom). Sometimes I kept dying, so I had to try again.(That made me quicker)This game is more unique than the first, it is more open, you can go outside and play Quidicth and re-do challenges and duel (you couldn't do that in the first game)whenever you want to!!!! I still love the first game, even though I can't beat it, but I win the second game.(how pathetic) So everyone should buy it. Com'on people my 19yr old sister liked it!!!!!!!

Potter is better than expected!

I had the Sourcer's stone on ps1 and found that fairly good, so last christmas I took the oppurtunity to ask for the 2nd one. I dedcided to get the computer game as opposed to the Playstation game. I found the game extremely exciting, and although some parts were different to the book, it didnt worry me. The game pulls you into the wizardry world and you can attend classes, visit the hospital ward, annoy Filch the caretaker or explore the whole of Hogwarts. The graphics are much better than the first and the different scenes take no where near as long as it either. I would strongly recommend this game to anyone who sometimes finds themself wishing of being in the Harry Potter world. It is not the same of course, but its probably the closest thing you can get.
