This Game is a Must for All Harry Potter Fans.

This Game is wonderful! I played the PS2 version, so I am not so sure how the graphics are on the computer, but they were wonderful on the PlayStation2. It is pretty much a simpler version of Tomb Raider. In stead of picking up Guns and Ammo (Like you do in Tomb Raider) You learn new spells. It is all practice and learning until you go off to Hogwarts, where you have to rescue Ron from the Whomping Willow. Then later on, in Defense Against the Dark Arts class, you must go through a whole in the wall and find a spellbook. This is tricky, to me. But I figure, if youre gonna spend a bunch of money on it, why would you want to finish it in a day? You must do this several more times later on in the game. I have not finished it yet ( I am about three-fourths of the way through it) so I don't know how it ends, but if it's anything like the movie or the book, it will be awesome. I recommend this game to all Harry Potter fans, People who loved the Harry Potter movie and book,Tomb Raider fans, and people who just love a good game!

For GOOD and EXPEREINCED gamers ONLY!

This is great. If you are iffy, BUY IT. You will be pleased.

One little problem. I was totally OK with this, because I played(and played and played and played) the first one, but if you are (a) a new gamer or (b) not very good of a gamer, than this game is not for you. You land in the Womping Willow, where you have to dodge tree roots to free Ron form the Willow's clutches and you don't know the first THING about casting spells. They're like, this is how you cast spells, this is how you climb this is how you jump, the end. Really. I suppose that they suppose that you've read the play guide thing.

Many new things for those who've played the first game!! 1. There are weekly house point ceremonies where the leader in points gets to go to the hallowed BONUS BEAN ROOM! This is FILLED with beans.2. The bean trading system. You can go to any one tossing a bean and trade beans for various things, such as a wizard card. (Garanteed not to tarnish!) 3. Wiggenweld Potions. You can get Flobberworm Mucous and Wiggen tree bark which are the main ingredients in the potion. You find a cauldron and run up to it and bang, you've got a Wiggenweld potion. What to do with it? Press the space bar when you're low on health, and, wow! Your bar is all the way filled.

I'm not going to say any more because other wise, I'll tell you absolutly everything. That's about it.

A MUST HAVE FOR ALL HARRY POTTER FANS!!!

I love this game! If you've played the first game and learned all of the cool spells, you'll be amazed at how many new spells you learn, plus you remember all the old ones without having to do the classes over. You meet Professor Lockhart, the sorting hat, and lots of other new people. And now you can buy things with the Bertie Botts Beans you collect! Things like flobberworm mucus and wiggentree bark to make potions, wizard cards, a Nimbus 2000 to make you fly faster in Quidditch, and protective armor for flying without getting hurt! Visit new places like Dumbledore's office, the Forbidden Forest, and hidden passages! There are many more things to find too, like keys and even more wizard cards! The only thing I've actually had a REALLY hard time with was Aragog. I totally reccomend this game to anybody ages 7-60. You won't regret it, it's definately worth the money.

Very Cool New Harry Potter Game

This game has been a huge hit with our boys and thier friends (ages seven to ten). The graphics are beautiful and the challenges are varied (i.e., not so hard the seven year olds are reduced to frustration and not so easy that the ten year olds are bored). The best thing I've noticed about this game is that when they play, they are all engaged in solving the challenges (not just three boys watching the fourth one play).

Fun for the Potter Fan

I have a lot of fun being in an interactive Harry Potter world. This game is different from the first in many great ways. First, the castle is mostly open all the time. You can explore at any time between classes, and there is a map so it's easy to find your way around. Most of the classrooms and other areas can be entered when class is not in session including the hospital wing and great hall. The dueling is an interesting addition that allows you to get lots of beans fast, but it's a little boring and there isn't much strategy involved. I also like the fact that you can make potions that give Harry one additional lightning bolt of stamina when he drinks them. The potions each require two ingredients that can be collected throughout the game and made into potions in special cauldrons. In this game, when you collect 10 bronze wizard cards, Harry gets all his stamina back plus another lightning bolt. That is very helpful especially at the end of the game.

The story of this game is structured very closely to the movie (and in extension to the book). There are a lot of cut scenes that explain the story. These scenes are slow to load on my computer as is every part of the game (but it usually plays fine once loaded). The cut scenes can be skipped, but then you'll probably miss the point of what Harry is trying to do. Some neat touches of the storyline include that for part of the game you play as Goyle or more precisely as Harry after taking the polyjuice potion including a bit of Goyle. Also, Harry gets to explore Dumbledore's office and talk to the sorting hat. After each class there is a house point ceremony and the house with the most points gets to go to the bonus bean room where you just run around and collect as many beans as you can in the time allowed, which depends on how many more house points you have than the house with the next highest amount of points. I can't wait to play the third one!

Great game, but watch out

Much like it's predicesor this game follows the story basically and you get to look at more of the castle. I like the way some of the lessons/challenges are done differently. I love the stairs.
I am near the end of the game and have to start over because I didn't keep enough life points to get through the final challenges in the chamber. They are more intense than in the rest of the game. Somehow I never played quiditch so you must have to choose to play. Explains why my points aren't to high the first round. Reminds me of when I was in school and had to do stuff over. I haven't changed much. This is a game I can play again and again. Good job EA.

Harry Potter and the Gamer looking for Secrets

"Congratulations! You've completed the challenge! You're almost as good as I was at your age."

Oh? That was a challenge?

I'll give you my honest opinion to start. I didn't think that this game was a huge improvement from the first. Some things were too easy, others were just a waste of time hard! Of course there were some welcome changes, like the ability to skip cutscenes or that the characters' mouths actually move when they speak, but I think I had more fun playing the first game. Maybe it's just that I expected a lot more.

Don't get me wrong - - I love Harry Potter and this game was still worth the money.

The spell learning was a waste of good arrow keys. I liked tracing it better. There were too many wizard cards everywhere, and so when you can't find a few, you feel like the whole game was a waste. Also, the quidditch was inferior to the first game. It keeps you on a defined track, and you can't adjust your speed. It's like a battle between you and the other seeker, instead of a hunt for the golden snitch.

The character development is rather minimal, except for Gilderoy Lockhart. And I love the British accents! But you don't get to know Ginny or even meet Ron's parents or learn to hate Malfoy.

Wizard dueling is a definite improvement. Once you finally master expelliamus, it's an exciting competition each time. You can duel real students from each house for an increasing amount of beans each time. That is, until you get up to 200, and then it's a battle of the expelliamus. How long can you bounce a spell back and forth?

The challenges are improved, except that there are too many secrets. Wizard cards everywhere, and beans galore. The "enemies" are the same thing over and over again. If there's a space with a firecrab symbol on it, you know what to do. The gnomes are easy and obvious, and the Wiggentree things are plain annoying. But you can go and replay each challenge and try to beat your high score, an addition which I liked.

I played it on PC, but I've heard about what you can do on XBox and PS2. If you are blessed (or spoiled) enough to have one of those systems, don't buy the PC edition. It skips the degnoming the garden and the scenes that serve as the introduction are boring, but necessary. THE BEST THING IS THAT YOU CAN SKIP THE CUTSCENES!

Overall, it's a good game, and probably for children ages 6-14, but it may be too easy or too hard for some, depending on age. Parents should get a kick out of it too, but don't go searching for every secret or you'll kick yourself literally out of frustration.

Great Game-but get it in the "World of Harry Potter" collection

This is a great game. As another reviewer said, they could have sold a million copies of a mediocre game, but this one is very good.

My seven year old daughter and I played "Socerer's Stone" first. We enjoyed it, but it was a bit clunky. Next we started playing this one. We're almost 20 hours into it already, less than half way through, and having a great time. This one has great replay value-we're going to go back and find the wizard cards we missed.

This one took everything that was good about the first game, got rid of what didn't work, and added a lot more. So you get more spells, more places to explore, more options, more fun.

If you get this in the "World of Harry Potter" collection, you'll get four games for twenty smackers. Great value!

Get the XBOX version

If you have an XBOX console, do NOT buy the PC version. It's amazing how much more extensive, detailed and rich the world is on the XBOX. Harry actually starts out on the Weasley's farm and then gets to explore Diagon Alley. The PC version uses cut scenes to take you right to the womping willow. Also the XBOX Hogwarts is much larger and richer looking than the PC version. The characters look the same but that's where the similarities end. It's clear there were two very different design efforts. Yes, you'll have a lot of fun with the PC version but if you have a gaming console, consider buying that version instead.

Even Better Than the First!

This game is great and is a must-have for any Harry Potter fan! It stays true to both the movie and the book and has amazing graphics! Whoever said that witchcraft was a bad thing in that previous review is a bunch of b.s., get over it already!
