I wanted to like this game, I really did...

This game could have been great. Based upon one of the most popular television shows of all time, it could have been very challenging and fun.

Forming alliances with other tribe members all the way through, voting off those who deserved it, making a place for yourself in the tribe, this all would have been a blast and a way to feel like you were on the show. Unfortunately, the game fails on so many levels it's pathetic.

The survival period is a joke. You just ask the same bland questions over and over again and the answers are totally random. The AI is ridiculous. Someone could tell you that your alliance is strong, and then say they are going to vote you off. Or you could go around to everyone in camp that you have a strong alliance with and agree with them to vote a certain player off, and they vote for someone else or even you. I was in the final four and had the strongest possible alliance rating with two of the tribe members, and what happens at tribal council? I get voted off. There is just no logic to this game whatsoever.

Most of the challenges are horrible. The only halfway interesting challenges are the trivia ones. The worst thing about the challenges is there are about 5 or 6 of the same shoot a slingshot at targets while you move along very slowly. It gets really annoying and tedious.

But what they really dropped the ball on here is multiplayer. I live in a college townhouse with LAN and one of my housemates and I attempted to play multiplayer. You don't even play the same game at the same time. You can't talk to each other during the survival period, it's just the computer in the other person's role. You don't do the challenges at the same time, a computer takes over for the other character, meaning someone could win immunity on the other player's challenge and a different person wins on yours. The only thing you do at the same time is vote, which is in the form of a horrible chat room interface.

Don't waste your money on this game. Hopefully future installments will actually be playable and fun.

I would seriously wait till a 'patch' comes out to fix this game. It's got it's good points, but many bad points.

The 1st thing you do 'each episode' is walk around your camp (you can't control it), gathering wood, cooking, etc. this is your opportunity to chat with the other survivors. the conversation is canned, and after a few episodes, it gets really boring.

some of the challenges are ok, but most of them are bad. my buggy version had me pushing a boulder up a hill only to lose strength and I had to wait for the other team to beat me, which took 45 minutes. the graphics are 3d, but on my Celeron 866 they look worse than Doom, and it's pretty clunky.

The sound is good. Tribal council is anticlimactic, and the voting never made much sense.

This game is ONLY for the big fan of the show (like me). Anyone else will think it really bites.

I had some pretty normal expectations of the game, since I knew it was going to be impossible to capture everything that the show has in a game. However, I wasn't expecting to be so utterly underwhelmed with the game as I am.

First, the graphics, with the exception of the players themselves, are uniformly bad. The sky, land, water, etc. all have Moire patterns, which doesn't exactly make me get into the game. Second, the games are repetitious. In team challenges, you are either playing a shooting game (which I kind of like, since they're at least somewhat challenging), a "throw this" type game, which, if it involves aim, is VERY hard to get the hang of, or a "test your might" type of game, where you control how hard someone's pushing, and how much effort they're giving. Really not all that involving.

The trivia games are slightly better, but not by much. And the maze games are unforgivably dumb...the controls suck, since you can't hold down the keys to make your characters move. Instead, you have to keep tapping them.

The "survivial periods" where you find out how the other players are thinking are also dull, and, as has been mentioned before, seemingly random. There's no definite clue as to how a computer AI character will vote, or how they really feel about you, so it's hard to judge if you're in trouble or not.

About the only thing I DID like is the fact that you can have teams from either season compete against the other teams, or you can set up random teams (although that can get disjointed, as the first time I did it, I had 7 men and Alicia on my team).

I haven't played the LAN/Internet version yet, but given what I've seen, it's a scary thought.

Survivor mania...

I was really excited to have this game come out! Being a big fan of the show, I eagerly anticipated the gaming experience of competing against tribes and within the tribe, and suffering through tribal councils. While this game delivers these things, I was less than impressed overall with this game.

It starts out really well with character creation. Choosing different traits of your character is essential to winning the game. I mistakenly shortsighted my strength for empthany, which was a mistake later on in the game. You can even put your own name into the show!

Then the game starts, and you go through Camp Time, a Reward Challenge, Immunity Challenge, and Tribal Council. One of the things you have to endure is painfully long uploads for each section. Maybe my PC is slow, but I actually took to reading a book between each event.

While the camp time was fun in chatting with people, the reward and immunity challenges were often difficult to manipulate. My team kept on losing them time after time, and after awhile, I was down to three members, and all of us very weak. Managing the fatigue and effort levels for the team members was painful and not fun at all. I did enjoy the graphics of Tribal Council, and the voting was fun, but it seemed not to connect to anything that I could tell.

I never made it to the merge because my PC crashed soon after, and I cannot now uninstall this game.

Overall, this has been a mixed gaming experience. I felt that the "Weakest Link" captures it's game much more effectively , but it's much easier to simlulate a close staged gameshow than a open air survival show. Maybe with a few tweaks, this game could be really what it needs to be.

Awsome game.... True Survivor fans dream come true!

This game was so much fun! Although it is hard to fit 16 people around a computer screen, the online game where you play against other players is awsome! With real character bios and faces, this game is sure to be a hit with Survivor fans. Everyone will be amazed with the challenge, because they are all identical to the ones from the real show. Im sure that everyone who has seen survivor has said that " they could do that" or "if they made it on the show, the money would be in their pocket". Now here is their chance. You have plenty of oppertunitys to form alliances and to talk to the others. The graphics are awesome, but I only wish that Pulau Tiga would be an option. You should be able to design your "habitat" or where the location for your episode is. I gave this game five stars because I know how many Survivor fans there are out there. And for Canadians like me, this is probably the closest that you will ever come to being on the show! Great job guys!

I am a fan of the Survivor Series, but this game doesn't do it justice though it's not as bad as advertised. You have your choice of which tribe you want to be and which tribe you want to play against. You can either play as one of the Survivors from the TV show or you can make your own custom character. When the game starts, you see some pretty good shots that are from the TV show and you see the real characters when they go fo mail and stuff like that. But then the game gets a little tough too swallow. You have around 3 1/2 to 4 minutes to "talk" to the other characters. It's basically the same questions over and over. Then you have the reward challenge. Some of the challenges are Ok, but most are just stupid. After that, then you go back to "talking" again. Then you do the immunity challenge. If you lose, you vote someone off. There is no way to speed up any of these processes. You have to suffer through some very tedious and boring aspects of this game. The graphics of the characters and of the landscape around you aren't very good and the AI (artificial intelligence) in the game is horrible. I had 3 people in my tribe that I gave weak emotional energy to and talked bad about them and they still thought we had an alliance. A tribe member will say that you should watch yourself and you ask what have you heard and they say not much. That's it. And during the challenges, you can't even see what the other tribe scored or how close to winning they are in most of them. And the internet play, you might as well forget it. I thought it would be fun to play over the internet but because the game doesn't have anyone supporting it, it's nearly impossible find anyone playing it. Now, this game isn't a total waste as it was amusing for a short time and the price is respectable, but they should've put this game together alot better than they did. I'm dissapointed, but at least it amused me for a few hours.

I am a huge fan of the show "Survivor and I couldn't wait to try the game. I was disapointed and frustrated with the effort involved with even getting this game to run on my PC. I even installed a new graphics card only to encounter more problems. After several hours of dedicated attempts to run the game I was finally successful, only to be dissapointed. The concept is good but I agree that the manufacturers rushed out an inferior product. After only playing a couple of games, I already feel like I have figured it out. The challenges feel drawn out and boring and the repetitious dialog is annoying.

I will say that the video footage is great and I enjoyed the graphic rendering of the actual characters. I gave this game 3 stars for the fact it is fun to see the television program in a game format, but it needs work. I would not recomend buying it until they work out some of the bugs.

Vote this Game off the island.

This game is awful. I managed to get it (...) @ a department store. I installed it, un-installed it and then reinstalled it. I have a Pent. 4, 1.7 GHz, 256 Ram, 64Mb Video Card, the latest Direct X, etc.. You know what I'm saying. I think I managed to get the game squared away now. I went way down to like 640 X something screen resolution, 64 colors or something, and reduced my video accelerator to average setting. It's the worst game I've seen in years. I'm glad I got it working now, but it's barely worth it.

I've waited till I played the game several times before writing my review. First, what I like about the game--
Some challenges are really good
The characters and graphics are lifelike and very good
I like the scenes from the show
Now the bad points--
1. There is no Pulau Tiga game, only the survivors from it. I thought there would be both the island and the outback.
2. Some challenges take all day. You have to control your characters stamina. So if you were Elisabeth or Colleen pushing a boulder you'd be lucky to even get close to winning compared to a stronger survivor.
3. The most dull part of the game is the survival period. I usually use the 3 minutes allotted to get a snack or take a bathroom break. Who wants to keep asking over and over the same questions they give you? You always get the same response.
4. They should have added a lot more challenges to the memory so you aren't always playing the same ones. A little variety goes a long way.
I'm a huge fan of the show so I had to get the game. I enjoy it, but when I'm playing it I just think of ways it could be better.
My advice is to read reviews or test the game before buying.

Survivor has been one of my favorite television shows since it debuted nearly two years ago. The combination of physical survival and societal survival really appealed to me, and thought a computer game could be potentially awesome... not this one!

When you start playing, you're given the option to choose which edition of survivor to play, but the only one available is Australian Outback. Then, you choose how long of a game you want and who you want to be. Then you begin the "survival period." You're supposed to hurry to pick which task you want to do, but the computer does them all so there's really no point to this at all. Instead, the point of survival period is to chat with your fellow survivors. Nevermind that the dialogue is derivative, stupid, repetitive, and sometimes downright full of non-sequiters. This is how you build alliances and get people voted off.

Unfortunately, you have no way to influence your "allies." One second they'll tell you Colleen has got to go, and the next second they'll vote Rudy off. You can tell them to please vote for Jenna, but they'll vote for B.B. regardless. This really limits the fun factor when you're just hoping they don't feel like voting YOU off.

Then, after a 3-minute survival period, you do a reward challenge. These will be dumb games like shooting arrows at boring targets, answering repetitive questions about the outback (which reappear way too quickly), and stupid races where you click arrows to indicate effort and then click them down once your player begins to get fatigued. This is about the level of a 1982 arcade game, if that.

Then, whoever wins gets a physical and mental boost, which makes you better in later reward challenges (yay) and more points to allocate toward other survivors. It's here that you choose who you like and dislike. Nevermind that your ratings don't have to match with someone else's at all.

After another survival period (it's at this point you'll begin to realize all of the dialogue can be whipped through in two minutes, and you're going to keep hearing "I think I should take a breather" for another 12 episodes) you finally vote people off. After a long, boring, and dull video sequence, you finally vote whoever you want off. Of course, chances are half of the other people will vote someone else out of the tribe. Then, you get to do it all over again. Sound like fun? No? If you're a fan of survivor, wait until it's in the bargain bin ([amt]), and if you're not a fan, avoid this game like the plague.
