Still fun since Day 1

I wont lie as a gamer. Ive gone through the storyline over 4 times and it still interests me. Theres some much to go back and play over. Its a truly Remarkable Game and Ill give a basic Rundown of Everything.

My Personal Favorite, The Physics are probably my favorite aspect of this game. The Gravity Gun is one of the many reasons its so entertaining. I wont ruin anything but an area in the mission if you play it with nothing but the gravity gun you will feel a great satisfaction. Anything Basically except for the mission critical items are moveable. You can spend hours on one area just having fun messing with the stuff.

Interactivity is another one. I cant explain how many hours I spent throwing cans at the Combine Guards in the beginning on City 17. The Warm feeling from tossing coke cans at Guards and making them mad are the true essences of a great game.

Graphics are one of the many reasons the game has made such popularity. The Graphics are still not dated to this day of 2006, The Face Details and the zombie and item detail is so precise and on the dot, its amazing.

Gameplay is one intense feature. At some points I actually got motion sick from the adrenaline running through my body from the buggy and boat scenes. The feeling on having 20 Guards chasing at you with guns and very mean attitudes.

Storyline is really stressed in this game. A lot of games are based on gameplay and not storyline. This game has both. It secedes from the first story. Honestly it feels like a different series of games but thats the best part it keeps the story so complex its something to remember.

There are some cons that I really havent experienced but others have had.

Steam is not a problem to me at all. I was up and running in a hour including time to go get a new headset and some snacks. It all depends on what connection you have. Dialup shouldnt be reviewing here because they dont have the connection view from well a cable users perspective. Dont judge what you havent experienced.

Ending (DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANT SPOILER) The ending is a cliffhanger. I didnt like it all that much. It wasnt a problem because in 2006 came Episode One. Its a very suspenseful ending. Similar to that of Halo 2.

Specifications are not a problem for me even with my low standard OFFICE PC not my gaming PC. 1.7 ghz Celeron Processor 80 Gigabyte Hard Drive 512 Ram and Radeon 9250 Graphics. Those who say you need all bells and whistles are going by the box specs and not how it runs with their computer.

Overall its a remarkable game and will be around for years to come. Its now somewhat cheap around 25$ for Game of the year. And that comes with Counterstrike Source. Its definetly a big bang for your buck.

This is a brilliant production from the very opening. The attention to detail, script, graphics, entertaiment level is unmatched in the gaming industry. Clearly some of the developers of this game are sitting in a mental institution somewhere. The detail is so intense and the story line so well written I wonder if these guys can distinguish between fantasy and reality. This game does require a good graphics card and I recommend high speed internet.

Half Life 2 is one of the most fun RPG games ive played in a good while. The best part about it is you feel like you actually are in a movie with the way you interact with the characters. The game has been in the making for now five to six years and it shows with all the new software that they have put to fantastic use. The only downside of the game i found was the ending. It left more questions then answers to the story but then again it left off for a part 3 it seems wich i will be hopeing to see in the near future. I recomend this game for any fans of part one and must say valve has done it again.

The most intense and well done game to date!!!

That was the best! I was completely hooked and up until 2AM many times because I could not quit. I had to see what was next.

The graphics, the sound, the scripting, the story, the weapons, the indoor/outdoor environments, the vehicles, the battles, the puzzles, the weird semi-organic creature/ships, the striders, the great map design where the path/solution was not always obvious. Then there was the water effect; that alone was worth the $50.00

The only disappointment was that the last level was too easy and the end too vague. I was hoping for a grand revelation and I would have preferred that it ended on a tougher note, with a more challenging puzzle and an end that made me wonder whose side I was really on.

Awesome game. They left the door open for Half Life 3. I hope it is not another 5 years though.

Best Game

Saying this game is great or fantastic or anything that is complimenting is an understatement. The developers sure took a lot of care in making sure this game lived up to expectations. It certainly exceeded them. Finding "useful" items aren't a chore and the means to get them are certainly intuitive and make sense throughout the game. In other words, things aren't just spread out for you to just pick up...there are reasons why things are where they are. It's up to you the player to figure out why and put them to good use. If you have a powerful enough PC to play Half Life 2, then you'll benefit by enjoying the beautiful graphics at it's fullest potential and at the speed it was meant to be played. If you're even luckier enough to play this in wide-screen or even through a projector, you will certainly be fully immersed in this game and it'll become an experience you hope never ends.

From the astounding, spectacular, and omnipotent previews, reviews, and incorporation of sophistication in a vast plain of demand for redemption, I must say Half-Life 2 screams unstable anti-mass spectrometer acceleration from any FPS to taint the riches of technological dissipation. Har! You insignificant fools with your manically infinitessimal mental capacities have neither the justice nor the certainty to criticize any rendition of what is to subsequently portray this extraordinary "game". In truth you'll never recieve compansation for any distrust in the game. So just fixate your interest elsewhere before condemning this masterpiece. Additionally, if valve is correctfully to blame for such a "delay", I suggest you aim your condemnation elseware, for it's undeniably unwelcome here.

I am seriously thinking about referring this issue to a group of lawyer friends. I am in the technology profession, and I've spent hours trying to get this game to run. And it looks like I am not the only one. Of course, we can't get a refund. How can any company think it's ok when so many folks are unable to use their product, offer little in the way of support, and won't give a refund. Unbelievable...

Half life and CS totally different

This game is going to rock! If the first half-life didnt scare the pants off you, this will.

I dont understand why people (see smartguy below) are comparing Half-Life2 to Counter-Strike. This is a single player game! Sure there will be multiplayer mods-- but these mods always change the feel of the game core and the way damage is given. Please don't judge this game based on your opinion of the orginal's multiplayer mod: CS. You have no idea how the multiplayer versions of HL2 will work out.

Get yourself a nice video card, cpu and memory and enjoy the game! As for smartguy, go hibernate with your pacifier so we'll never have to hear from you again.

lets hope

In 1998 I happened to stumble on a little game called Half-life. Okay, by that time (December of 1998) everyone was talking about Half-Life and I could not wait to see what all the hype was about. Usually when you have high expectations for a game the game fails to deliver even if normally you would have enjoyed it but Half-Life surpassed my expectations and become one of my favorite games of all time (Unreal, GTA3, DOOM, Command & Conquer). It became an obsession long after I beat it and every now and than as late as 2002 I would re-install it and relive the experience. That was then this is now. Games have came a long way- graphics, physics, storyline, multiplayer, and scripted events. I will find myself drawn to my local Best Buy to see the results of the sequel if they measure and hopefully surpass my current expectations for games. In all honesty it will probably fail to be as great as the first but one can hope that the second will be just as memorable if not more so than the original.
