I've been playing Star Trek Bridge Commander for a while now after I purchased the game just a few years ago. The computer graphics are great if you like to take the Captain's Chair. This game requires some stragety and it's often difficult to play. I have to play this game a number of times before I can get through the next level. But if you are a extremely better gamer and love Star Trek this game is for you. If not don't buy this game if you are not satisified.

This is amazing you actually sit in a "Picard" type role and are able to do wahtever you please with your ship. It is amazing Ive only played the demo but voice activation! WOW. The only 2 downfalls I see so far are #1 you get relieved of command if you try to blow up friendlies (I got bored with the demo) and #2 so far there is a lack of joystick control. I know that sounds trivial but in Star Trek #9 they had a "MAnual Steering Column" and yes im a trekkie
Simply Incredible!!

The Original Elite Force game was groundbreaking and one of the best games made to date. I didn't see how they could improve on that but I am awed at this game. It's simply the best game I have played to date. It ranks in at one of the 6 all time best games ever in my opinion. Just for the record, my top six games ever go like this:
6 Unreal II
5 Star Trek Elite Force
4 Indiana Jones and The Emperor's Tomb
3 Star Wars Jedi Knight II:Outcast
2 Star Trek Elite Force II
1 Halflife
These games are simply the best made to date and Elite Force II ranks right at the top in my book. I don't know where to begin. Superb graphics, sound, playability, storyline, weaponry. It's like stepping into the Star Trek Universe. The graphics were completely authentic in every detail to the Star Trek world. I hope there is an Elite Force III in the future as I am hungry for more. Maybe the Elite Force Team could be assigned to Deep Space Nine next time, that would be awesome I think.

I have mixed feelings about this game. Perhaps I should note here that I played and very much enjoyed the original Armada. In some ways, I think the sequel improves on it, where in others the developers seem to have taken a backward step.
On the progress side, there are many new units and two completely new races- Species 8472 (yes, I had to look that number up) and the Cardassians. The new units generally comprise an assault ship of some sort, two new frigate-class ships, and one battleship. For example, the Federation gets the Galaxy as its battleship, Aegian and Sabre class ships as frigates, and the Iwo-Jima class as an assault ship. This gives you quite a lot of choices for ships other than the originals (which are all here, and looking exactly the same as they used to). However, you can play this exactly like you played old Armada and that will work just fine.
Naturally, there are also a bunch of new special abilities, though the superweapons remain very much the same as they were in Armada 1. You can also change the camera to a 3-d movement mode, though it is still quite difficult to control your forces from this perspective. The graphics have been updated and generally tweaked for the better. There are also the new resources metal and latinum, harvestable from planets and nebulae, respectively. Planets can also be used for colonization if you need more crew.
Now, some things I really wish they had left alone, or at least put less emphasis on. In general, the new 3-d camera mode is little more than a good show. It's still too hard to move things around in it for it to be practical in combat. Sometimes ships will move close or farther away from your isometric perspective camera, appearing incredibly big or small and having to move up or down to attack. This can be rather disorienting.
While the new ships are cool, as I mentioned earlier, they aren't really necessary. Also, the old ships haven't changed AT ALL. You would think they might have moved some things around, such as making the Defiant and Akira higher up on the food chain, but they haven't changed a thing. Defensive platforms shoot far slower than they used to, but their hull can actually take damage now. Also, you can't just charge a starbase with a lot of ships, even really powerful ones, because even though they won't take down your shields they will kill crew off like nuts. Not sure how or why that happens.
Warp. I don't think I need to say anything more than this, and if you don't understand, you haven't seen it happen in the game. It looks ridiculous, isn't realistic, and the game could really do without it. At faster than the speed of light, you would think your fleets would get to their targets instantly, but that would be rather cheap, so they just go at about double their impulse speed. You lose shields in warp, so you can get screwed up on the way if you aren't careful. Also, ships sometimes jump to warp to engage an enemy just outside range. It can get extremely disorienting and looks totally retarded. I hope they patch it out altogether.
In general, I think Armada 2 is a good deal of fun and more or less an improvement over its predecessor. It's just that I was hoping it would be a really BIG improvement, and it simply isn't. In fact, in some ways, I think it's actually not as good. Alas, it is difficult to live up to gamer's expectations of a sequel to a truly great title, and Armada 2 did not live up to mine.
Awesome!

I bought this game for 5 bucks at a local retail store and wasn't expecting much but this game is absolutely huge and extremely detailed, not to mention very fun. Some people have mentioned the graphics being dated, but even so they're very detailed and stylized. Sure there are no 3d texture mapped polygons or gratuituous FMVs every three seconds...that's why I liked it! Plus it has all the original cast voices and sound fx which perfectly recreate the feel of the series. A lot of time and care went into this game and it really shines. If you're a Star Trek fan you'll LOVE it, and even if you're not and you just want a fun, old school game to play then definitely check this one out.
Great Star Trek Game!

I have been playing for a week and haven't had any problems with this game. The graphics are really good and the sound pulls you into the game. A couple times some encounters made me jump, and that is rare in a game. If you liked the first Elite Force then you should like this one too. There is one mission that you get to some some space walking on the Hull. One mission you have to manually control a turrent on the Starship in order to save it. This is just a task of the missions. This game is fun to play!

Great Game. Superb graphics. I would also like to say that the woman who cancelled the order because their is no Alexendra Munro is passing up the best sequel ever. Her raiting of 1 star was based on her thinking the company was marketig to men only. If it bothers you that much go get Laura Croft Tomb Raider.

I bought this after playing the demo a while back. After several weeks of gameplay, I have come to find things that I really like, and I really hate.
Like:
Better graphics than original Armada
True 3D
Good sound effects
Lets you play most famous ship classes
Decent cross section of Trek species
Good pacing
Dislike
AI (both enemy and your own units) is a dumb as a brick. I don't know how many times I've heard "Ship has entered a dangerous nebula. Ship has entered a dangerous nebula." even though the nice, safe path is clearly nearby.
Species 8472 is too weak. In the TV show, they sent the Borg packing. Come game time, they can be thumped by a couple of low-range Federation ships. What gives?
Rescource management is a bit spotty.
All in all, this is a decent RTS game, definiately meant for the hardcore Trekkie or maybe a RTS fan.

I've been a die hard fan of the Starfleet Command series since it came out. Starting with SFC1 I had finally found a game that would hold my interest for years!
...I couldn't wait...bought it, installed it, played it, HATED IT!! This game is so far removed from the other 3 titles and it is a joke. By trying to appeal to the TNG fans and to attract new customers, the game was simplified to the point of a 7 year old could play it and win. Go into reverse and fire...that is it...no tactics nada.
It is a shame that such a great Game title has gone to the dogs....
