I would like you to read this review all through before judging weather you liked it or not!
I'm a Trek fan so i have most of the Star Trek games and as you know who have played those games they are not always so good .... but this one is an exeption, the sound is clean and good the graphics are good and the camera is extremely good, actually there is only one thing that is IN the game that bothers me and that is the size diffrence between a Borg Cube wich is supposed to be the ultimate ship and should be able to destroy two Sovereigns and is supposed to be much bigger...... it dosen't look that big in the game, that's the only flaw in what's in the game but there are a few things that are missing e.g. more ships u can only build 6 ships ..... (7 in some occasions) and of course more missions.... i finished this game in one night and it was very easy so yes it's very easy and also i would like to see more famous ships and maybe Deep Space Nine, these are very few flaws compared to many games,
i do like this game and i think everybody that like strategy games will like this one...... it's relatively stable and the graphics are great .... it's fun and i enjoyed it all the time playing!
Thank you for reading and please send me an email if you don't like the review or if you wan't to point out what i missed
Very fun to play, but unstable

Being a Star Trek fan, I had high hopes for the game. The preview trailer was exciting and the demo was fun to play. Once I got the game, I played it for four hours straight! I just couldn't stop...I was hooked! Until...the game suddenly just...stopped. "What the-?!"
Overall, this could have been the best Star Trek game I've ever played. You get to be the good guys and the bad guys. Building ships, starbases, taking over ships, and unique weapons made it exciting. The bugs were the only problem. The game needs a patch to make it stop crashing or else people would have to play the game saving it every 5 minutes.
Graphics were great, but could have been better in my opinion. I wished they had used the same graphics as they did in the trailer in between the campaigns. One small detail I was disappointed in was the ending, though. It kind of left me with the thought, "That's it?" (After all that hard work). I was hoping for an ending movie like the beginning.
I hope I didn't spoil anything for people who haven't bought the game. Would I recommend it? Definitely! I'm not going to sit here and say that this is the best game in existence or compare it to games like StarCraft and Command & Conquer, but I will state that this game is a whole lot of fun. Star Trek fans will love it just as I did. My advice is to save your games every 5-10 minutes...just in case.
It's fun. What else is important?

This game is actually very fun to play. While it's not quite up to the same league as Homeworld, it is possibly the first Star Trek game that was pretty engrossing to play. Now the thinking puzzles of strategy are not calculus equations, so don't expect to duel with a real Artificial Intelligence, but it's at least as amusing as Starcraft. Oh yes, it is true. This is version 1.0 after all, and it is pretty buggy. I figured out how to avoid the bugs on my system by not going into any higher resolutions past 640X480, 16 bit color (although I tried 32 the last few times...seems okay...), and disabling all residual programs in the background-especially Antivirus programs. While it is disappointing that Activision couldn't make this a real wonder to the senses, at least the bugs are livable (Ultima Ascension folks know what I mean). What matters to me though is that I thought it was fun to play-we'll work out the rest later. (patches...sigh...why does it always have to be patches?)
Kick ass Star Trek game.

Finally there is a Star Trek game that is really good! This game is the first game that does the Star Trek name sound even better. Activision did a very good job in creating this game, they have managed to bring the Star Trek feeling to your home PC. The game takes you through five campaigns, Federation, Klingon, Romulan and the Borg. In the final campaign the first three races bind together to defeat the Borg. The storyline has been nicely woven through the game and is an important part of the game. The between games animations are great and there are very good voice overs from the original crew. The gameplay is also great, it is foing to take some getting used to, but once you are it feels great. Relatively new options such as: Scout and Search and Destroy make the game even more playable. The game looks much like Starcraft, only better. You can Zoom in to the ships so far that you can see them in full glory, it's almost like in the movies. This ofcourse is useless to play with, but it still looks great! The in-game sound is also fantastic, you can hear real voices from the series and the sound of the weapons is also great. There is just one point of comment, the game can be a little "buggy" at some times, but this is will be overcome when you download the upgrades from the Activision homepage. To Conclude all this: I strongly recommend this game to all Star Trek and RTS fans, it has all the makings of a great game. Lets all hope the next Star Trek games are as good as this one.
Full of bugs is correct!

I've spent the past couple of weeks playing this game and havemade it all the way to the Romulan campaign. Right now, I'm fightinglike crazy to defeat the Borg, and every time I come close, the game crashes on me. Of course, I could skip to the Borg campaign, but that would spoil everything, wouldn't it?
Good game, but only if it didn't bomb out on me. END
A truly great RTS game flawed by programming.

Star Trek Armada is by far one of the most interesting and fun games that I have played. In fact, it is quite possibly the only game that does any of the Star Trek games justice. I've played the game for quite some time and would certainly recommend it to other players. However, before you invest your money I must point out several pitfalls of this game that could push some customers away.
When I first played this game I was astounded by how real the entire Star Trek universe became. Fluid ship movements and photon torpedos, warp drives, phasers, and the whole nine-yards blew me out of my seat. However, the terrible programming soon distracted me from my moment of enthusiasm.
Star Trek Armada is an extremely fun game to play, yet the bugs cannot be overlooked. I have an 800 mhz PC with a 64mb GeForce Video Card and the movies are very choppy on my system. This was extremely detrimental to the realism of the campaigns.
If you're into multiplayer, you'll soon see that the multiplayer community is extremely small. The game is patched rarely if ever, and half of the online gaming community speak doesn't even speak English very well (There are many German players). There is a "cheat" that is known by many veterans that also allows you to build buildings anywhere on the screen. Don't be surprised if you see an enemy starbase appear in the middle of your base!
If you are a new player and try to get online to fight your battles, be wary. There are many established "clans" and new players aren't readily accepted. Also, if you're looking for a large online community, you're looking in the wrong place. Yet, the quality of the game outshines the bad programming and this is an excellent addition for anyone who enjoys a good RTS game or is a Star Trek fan. You'll lose a good deal of sleep with this game!
Pros:
Massive variety of ships and special weapons.
Excellent Animation.
Decent Playbalance.
Cons:
Terrible multiplayer latency (lag).
Small multiplayer community (less than 100 players at all times).
EXTREMELY buggy code for a publisher such as Activision.
The Startrek game I always dreamed about.

When I got my first Commodore proto-computer back in the early eighties this is exactly the sort of game that I hoped would one day be developed for home computers. If you are like me, you daydreamed alot about the various starship designs and the possibility of all-out fleet action between the Federation and the Klingon and Romulan Empires. Well, you don't have to do it in your mind anymore. Not only that, you also get the most overwhelming of all opponents, the Borg - and the chance to team up against them. Plus you get ships from minor races showing up, like the Ferengi, Jem Hadar, Cardassians, etc.
I couldn't imagine a better interface for controlling a fleet battle. It is very intuitive and smooth. And you aren't forced to run around constantly micro-managing individual ships. Plus you get that little cinematic "screen in screen" that lets you see individual ship-to-ship action like it was on a movie screen. A tiny little movie screen, but a movie screen.
Some reviewers have complained of technical problems and crashes- I've played this game through to the end at least three times now on an out-of-the-box standard Gateway, and I haven't had any problems.
Good but buggy...

The game is excellent in every aspect, except that it IS FULL OF BUGS. It is very upsetting when you are playing for an hour or so and in the heat of battle, when suddenly the computer monitor flickers and your suddenly in windows. It's true and it happens a lot.
Action - Strategy - Coolness

I've played a lot of the other Star Trek games and most of them are full of brand name and completly devoid of gameplay, ST: Armada manages to full fill both.
It also has amazing community support!
Very surprised!

I wasn't going to expect much from this game, but I was pleasantly surprised by it! It plays just like the TV show, and the graphics are pretty good. I've shown the game to other Trekkers @ my job, and they've all gone out to buy it. Some people may need to tweak their systems to take full advantage of the graphics features of the game, but the actual game play is great! Can't wait for the add-on packs!
