For the price this is a one of the best games I have seen. It has tons of stuff to build and is hilarious to watch. You get little skiers and snowboards doing everything from jumps and wipe out crashes to avalanches. It also has a lot of game play depth.(100's of stuff to build and control) You can even view your resort from any thing you have built or see it through the eyes of any of the skiers or snowboarders. I have really enjoyed this game and I would recommend it to anyone who liked roller coaster tycoon or anyone who likes to ski.
Pleasantly surprised for the price

Hopefully most of you are familiar with how the Tycoon games work. With this game, you are responsible for creating a ski resort but more importantly, a village as well. Something very vital to this game is knowing that you are going to spend the same amount of time if not more making buildings, paths and villages to keep skiiers happy as you are working on the trails, lifts and terrain on the mountain.
Here are some positives and negatives to the game. First, the negatives. The software runs a little slow on my computer, and I consider myself to have an average machine (466 pentium II, 32mb RAM). The detail is just average. You can zoom in and out which is a very nice feature, but even the closest zoom in won't give you that much detail. They have something called "building cam" where it gives you a 360 degree shot from a building or lift. This is a great idea and would be awesome but it ends up being disappointing because it is deathly slow trying to move around and get different views of things. You move the mouse to look left and it doesn't do it for five seconds, by that time you've already moved your mouse again and... well you can imagine how that goes. The positives, and why I give it four stars -- the simulation overall is very lifelike for the price. Skiiers show emotions, wipe-out, and use the facilities that you provide for them. There are so many buildings and features you can build, including choosing five different mountains to start off with. There are also three different monetary levels to adjust the level of difficulty of the game.
Sky Resort Tycoon Similar to Other Tycoon Games

For players of other Tycoon type games this game will be very familiar. Its financial model is very much like the ones you find in other Tycoon games. The hiring employees and setting prices of the different attractions is about the same with the only difference being in the type of employee you hire. The graphical interfaces is fairly easy to use and the sound is basicly ok. The sky lifts, buildings, etc you are allowed to build is based off of what you have already built. Ski trail construction is important in winning the game and you are allowed to make major modifications to the terrain. The instructions for the game are on the CD and are barely adequate. They just describe the control features in a basic manner and give a few tips in playing the game. The game has very few scenarios. All in all if you like playing the tycoon style games you will like this game and with its low price it is not a bad buy ,but don't expect exciting new styles of game play.
Underneath the snow, this is a great game at a great price.

Due to its low price, many people will consider Ski Resort Tycoon another game for the bargain bin. The game in reality is quite fun, considering that it works properly on your computer. Though an instruction manual is missing upon purchase, the game is easy enough to learn. "Easy to learn, difficult to master" describes the game well. With a large selection of shops (hotels, diners, ski and boarding schools, etc.), the chance of running out of money comes quite soon, but three difficulty settings come in handy. On the Easy setting you start with 50,000 dollars. On Hard, you start with 10,000. Get the picture? When you get into the game, you have two options. Instant Action, or one of the Challenges. Instant Action is for..well, Instant Action (without the hassles of Challenges and goals). Challenges provide you with scenarios and goals you must accomplish. Once you actually begin to construct you resort, however, bugs and certain problems come out of hiding. The game is rather slow at times, but not often (if you have met the game requirements, that is). Even from the beginning, you have a wide array of tools ready for your use in shaping your mountain. One problem that bothers me the most is that you can't open and close your resort at will. The park seems to open as soon as your first Ski run or halfpipe/jump is constructed and opened. Also, when building, the lack of a tool that allows you to change views (for constructing things such as roads behind buildings) becomes quite a hindrance in building. The first person view on buildings is an interesting idea, though it is quite slow and doesn't work very well. Those are the most noticeable problems for me, and the only problem I have with Ski Resort Tycoon. If you're a fan of Roller Coaster Tycoon, go ahead and try this game out, because despite its flaws, it is quite a fun and addicting game. Hope this helps.
A Pretty Good Game

This game is great for skiers, boarders, or people who know about winter sports. But, If you don't know a lot about these things, I woudn't recommend it. This game features 5 different mountains with all different terrain options for you to create a 5 star resort (or just to play around on). There are two modes. The first is instant action and the second is challenges. In instant action, you don't have a real objective, you just play to play. In challenges there are some like "create a five start resort" or "get a skating rink, board park, and a jump" for you to complete. This game also has three dificulty levels, easy ($50,000), medium ($25,000), and hard ($10,000). The graphics on this game are so-so. They sometimes are a little fuzzy, but they're pretty good. Also, this game freezes a couple times when you start, just to get into the configurations of your computer. You also have a wide range of hotels, bathrooms, warming huts, resteraunts, ski patrol, mantinence, and lots more. the thing that I love about this game that makes it different that all the other tycoon games is how you get buildings. For example, I want the Deluxe Family Cabin. To get this, I need a warming hut, and fish and chips. You have to have other buildings to get certain buildings. Over all, I would give it 4 stars just because of the graphics and sometimes it is not in depth enough, but I highly recommend it to people who LOVE skiing and snowboarding.

This game was originally just an okay game due to some bugs in it, or rather some programming deficiencies, such as slow mouse cursor movements. The developers of the game, Cat Daddy Games have been busy at work putting out updates, the first update fixed several problems in the game and their new beta update has fixed the mouse cursor and now it moves just like a regular windows mouse cursor. The game now that the mouse has been fixed is outstanding. Beyond just regular game play we have seen people play it like a true ski resort simulation duplicating actual ski resorts from around the world. More info on the game can be found at skiresorttycoon.com Check it for the latest info, and to get a better feel of what the game is actually like if you have any doubt about purchasing this fun filled game.

Ski resort tycoon is the best tycoon game since Roller Coaster. Watching the skiers bust on the slopes is more than comical. I thoroughly recommend this game! I play for hours and hours on end, and you will to.

I've played this game at a friends house, and it is very fun. I look forward to buying my own copy soon. I'm an experienced skier, and I find the people and situations on this game very amusing. Also, making the game work out on a limited budget is challenging. Buy this game, it's great!
Sweet!

I got this game for Christmas and I thought it was going to be great, because I loved Roller Coaster Tycoon. This game, however, is not nearly as good as RCT. I hated it! The little hand was really hard to control and there didn't really seem to be a purpose to the game. What you had to do was build buildings, and most of the buildings required a less expensive building on the resort to be built before the building you wanted could be built. You couldn't look in the buildings or anything. Save your money on this one, it's not worth spending on. Buy something that can let you have more control, if that's what you like. This is only a good game if you want to just see the little buildings placed around and watch skiers ski, but you can't build much yourself or anything. I think Roller Coaster Tycoon, or The Sims, or Sim City would all be better alternatives to Ski Resort Tycoon.
