if your thinking of a james bond game, give this one a try first but you will need a friend otherwise the levels will be pretty much impossible, but 5 stars is underated for this game.
The under appreciated master piece!

Though Timesplitters 2 is regarded as an excellent video game, it's not appreciated enough. This is my favorite first-person shooter! It has the best multi-player i have ever played. The game appeals more to the hardcore gamers. Those of you looking for just some cool, movie like, intense action game, go out and buy a game like Night Fire or Max Payne. But if you want a game that will last you for months and is ridiculous fun if you have friends, then buy Timesplitters 2. The story mode is incredibly fun and has a lot of replay value. The guns are over the top! You have everything from double barrel shotguns to plasma auto rifles to cross bows. The beauty of this game is that it covers a variety of time periods. So you have guns from the amzon to guns from the gangster 1920's to today to the far future. The multi player is insane. When I say insane, I mean over the top! There's so much going on at once and theres so many different game modes. You can have up to ten bots at once! This game inherets many of its traits from goldeneye and perfect dark (since TS2 is made by the same people). Basically, if you know anything about video games, and play a fair bit of games, go out and buy the best first person shooter ever made!

I admit, I really did not want to enjoy this game. I hate Eidos, and I felt that the original TimeSplitters was so bad that I wanted to throw my copy in a bon-fire. So when my friends said that it was a good game and I should try it, I was a little hesitant. But the second I put that disc in my console, I swear, I fell in love. It has everything, from gigantic guns to demented little monkeys. The cartoony look didn't hurt, and once I found out I could play this game online, it was bye bye to my free time on the weekends and hello, TimeSplitters 2! So whatever feelings you have against Eidos, buy this game, which is worlds above it's original.

This game is simply amazing. TimeSplitters 2 has some of the best graphics ive ever seen. Also, this is one of those rare games where you wont be bored out it in a week. The game has so many modes (story, arcade, challenge, mulitplayer). You can play with your friends or just blast people by yourself. I bought this yesterday and i cant stop playing it. Definitely one of the best games, a must have for any PS2 owner.

Doesn't anyone know about the i link!?!? I read most of the previous reviews and no one mentioned it. The i link is the underadvertised/undersupported peripheral that allow 2 PS2s,2 TVs and 2 copies of TimeSplitters 2, to become a head to head battle royal!! You can't see your opponents screen, and he can't see yours. It's by far the best option on the game!! (But I haven't tried an online session yet) MENTAL NOTE: BUY I LINK TODAY!!! You won't be sorry! The game just opens up more when you go into multi player and you have your own screen!!
Like Halo, but actually good.

I kept hearing stuff about Halo, people saying it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Well, when I did see it, I thought that it was pretty underwhelmed. Graphics were decent, but the settings, scenery, and enemies were pretty blah. It seemed like someone took the worst of the Sci-Fi network and the Phantom Menace and made it a game.
Then I saw TimeSplitters 2. Wow. The graphics and scenery are spectacular, the characters and enemies are various (I prefer controlling a monkey), and the two player mode is by far the best of any console game. There's a map editor, there are numerous modes, including cooperative and non-coop deathmatch, cooperative and non-cooperative capture the flag, who can hold the flag the longest, and much more. The Mexican Hacienda capture the flag mission alone is worth the price of the game.
The gameplay is smooth, the weapons vary, and within minutes, a friend and I were hooked on capture the flag.
The game is based on some sort of time travel plot. I had no interest in the FMV, so I skipped all the movies. At least that provided an excuse to provide gorgeous settings and levels. Unlike games like Max Payne or Metal Gear Solid 3, the settings are not drab and one dimensional, but vibrant and interesting. From a western setting, to an ice field, to the streets of 1930s Chicago, to the Aztec rain forest, the backgrounds were rendered seamlessly and flawlessly.
The single level mode is fun too. Sometimes it require some exploration, but it's still very easy on the easy level. A little too fun. I completed the two thirds of the game in one sitting. But, if you want a challenge, want to spend more time on it, and more rooms to explore, you can choose a harder level. There are about 10 levels, all in different times and settings.
In short, some reviewer said it was a Halo killer. Let me say that it is.
Not the best shooter but it's got it's perks

Way to short, the story line has no real basis, save a few crystals by going through time. Seems kind of lame....
Ya well the story line wasn't all that great but the game play was really good and so is the muliplayer. I good feature of the game was the map make ability.... I've never seen that on a console game system yet, so needless to say it impressed me.
One of the things that didn't make this game one of the all time best was the fact that it wasn't worked on or thought out enough. If they had of made more characters and a longer script with more levels that game would have been funnier. Oh ya, and there weren't enough weapons.
Overall the game was cool and fun to play.
Motion Sickness Alert

First of all, I will say that what I've played of this game is excellent. Tight graphics. Fun theme. AWESOME multiplayer. I do have a warning though for those who avoid FPS's due to motion sickness (yes, I am one of them). Single player Timesplitters 2 will get you. The movement is so fast and and you are constantly moving. After playing through the first level I had to turn in off and pop some pills (dramamine).
I did not have any problems with the multiplayer though. The movement doesn't seem quite as quick and it probably helps that the screen is split. If you are looking for a great party game then this one is great. There are some great settings to help FPS newbies and experts play pretty equally.
If you don't have a problem with motion sickness, I would strongly recommend this game...the levels that I did play were fun and pretty original. However, if you do have problems, go for Red Faction 2 or James Bond: Nightfire as these games are darker and there is not as much movement.
Great Co-Operative Game!!!

We rented Time Splitters 2 game because of the multi-player co-operative mode. We spent hours playing it. The different levels were great; Western, Roaring 20's, The future, The Past and etc. It was a lot of fun to play and now we are going to buy it. We liked it so much because you can play together and each level was like a puzzle. If you passed the puzzle, then your "time warp" opened up and you proceed to the next level. Your character also changes with each level. I totally recommend this game for anyone who likes co-operative play.
