Things are red hot on this expansion pack!

For those of you who haven't played The Sims you are missing out. The basics of the game is to build (or break) a family's bank account, social relationships and what not. The great thing about it is that the possibilites are endless in this game. You could be a fireman if you want by placing an easel to close to the fireplace or be an architech and build your house from the ground up.

The Sims: Hot Date offers you to not be held back into your house by to explore a downtown and to party the night away. This exapasion pack is by far the one that lets you do more outside while Livin' Large and House Party focused more on making house life more interesting and entertaining. Also Hot Date lets you build downtown buildings free of charge and has many new downtown itmes like food fast and fine dining tables and dressing racks but lacks on the amount of new items for house which the others have.

The Downtown - The downtown offers things like never before. First automatic perk I saw was in the mall I saw dressing racks. Finally I can pick out a swimsuit that's not a pink speedo for my fit males! Shopping is nice and you can buy gifts to give to friends which is added to your inventory (a new feature) Dating is probably the most interesting. While you're in one of the downtown building in Live Mode you will see people from you neighborhood there and people called "Townies" which you can make friends with. If you feel your relationship is good enough with some one, you can asked them out. If they say yes, then the date is on! You can do whatever you what: play with remote-controlled boats or cuddle and play footsie in the booth. And each neighborhood has its own downtown so you can make lots of places for your sims to go.

Building - The wallpaper and floor opitions have expanded so customizing your house to you is easier. The new thing is the natural water tool which you can make a pond in your yard. Or a moat if that floats your boat.

Outfits - The big thing is you can change your swimming, formal, and sleeping outfits but I would say about 15 new outfits are added. The Townies will wear a random outfit from the collection so if you downloaded unusual outfits like spacesuits or the Lady Marmalade girls (like I have) you might see some weird looking people

Hot Date is make social life for your sims better and funnier for you. Just make sure YOUR social life comes first becuase it's easy to get caught up once your in.

I've been looking forward to "Hot Date" and i've heard that you can go build a downtown area filled with "restaraunts, beaches, parks, and malls and if you don't wanna build one you can just use an already made one. This is obviously the best Expansion Pack out there today. Your sims don't have to be stuck inside there house anymore, go out and roam the streets for that special someone or ask a neighbor to meet them there or maybe spend the night. And there's over 40 new people actions, you can now Whisper into your dates ear, kiss their hand, etc... well i hope this review was helpful.

SIMS IS GREAT

I love the game, especially since I'm now rich beyond all dreams, mainly because I kill all my husbands -by drowning them in the pool right after the wedding, when they've brought in the $20,000. This way I can stop working, and buy all the luxury goods I want. When I'm running out of funds, I just woo & marry another (hapless) guy!! I have an entire cemetery in the backyard (nicely tended to by a gardener), and if it gets overcrowded, I sell the extra gravestones for $5.00. Sometimes I'll have a baby with one of my husbands, for that purpose he is allowed to live a little longer. When the kid goes on my nerves, in to the pool....(remove the ladder, and your Sims drowns!! They must be really stupid...)

How's that for "real" life??

I love the sims, but...

I really love the sim games and have all of them, but this one is just different. I agree with one viewer about everything downtown being way to expensive and they have changed the interaction settings so it takes much much longer for your sims to become friends etc, or allowing you to advance in your career. The other major problem that I have been having is that my computer crashes constantly when playing this game. I have all of the requirements on my system and all of the other games work perfectly. I think that Maxis had some bugs to work out before releasing it.
My suggestion is buy all of the other ones first, and when you get bored of those, try this one... but learn to love the other three first!

Finally somewhere to go instead of staying home!

I really loved this game. I've been playing it for a long time. I try not to stay on too long. But, "Thesims Hotdate" is real great! I mean, finally somewhere to go! In the regular sims and sims houseparty and also sims living large you always had to keep your sim at home! BORINGGGG! But now, they added a downtown. Definitely more objects to get and you also get to buy clothes downtown! But it kind of would have been much better if you got to get casual clothes downtown. Downtown you get to buy clothes but the only categories you get to choose from is formal, swimsuit, (and now they have winterwear; since they have thesims Vacation) and then pajamas. But who would really want to just go to the store without actually buying clothes? But don't worry about it. It's a real fun game! And you get to go on dates and hangout with sims. And more interactions!!!!!! It's cool! Believe me. But what I'm really looking forward to getting is sims superstar and thesims online. Okay, definitely a lot of people didn't like thesims online, but it wouldn't hurt to try right? But sims hotdate is real fun! Try it! U sim lovers!

oh la la

let me tell you about hot date. as far as new objects go, there aren't really a whole bunch of just awesome stuff, of course there is lots of cool shops and stuff, but there is a BIG BUNDLE of new animations, some of it is pretty trashy, like in the love tub you can wash, cuddle, kiss, or play with the other person in the tub, but its kinda funny, anyway downtown rocks, you can buy cloths food and lots of other cool stuff, i tell ya this game is a must for anybody.

Great stuff for those liking the singles

This is an unusually huge expansion pack for any game, and Sims into the Singles scene will not be disappointed. Though less interesting for Sims fans who are more into married life and careers, as always the expansion contains goodies for everyone. It is well worth the price, and at the price that Amazon.com currently has it at, it is a steal.

Disappointed by all the hype

Bought this for my wife, she was disappointed at best because of the limitations that no one ever mentions. Things like you can only control one sim while downtown and it seems to be extremely buggy even with the latest patch, sims and townies both get stuck and sims sometimes seem to "ignore" anything you tell them to do. It also requires a pretty hefty cpu and graphics card compared to the stock Sims game and other add on packs. It did seem to "settle down" after she played it for a while, but is much slower when downtown than when at home. If The Sims barely runs on your machine, Hot Date will completely kill your machine!

The machine she plays this one is only about 6 months old a Sony VAIO FXA36, a 1 Ghz processor with 128 MB of ram and an ATI Rage Mobility graphics chip. I can upgrade the RAM to 256 and that might help.

Excellent game

The sims hot date is great... I was disappointed at first (i couldn't get anybody to go downtown) but i figured out your charaacter has to be in almost perfect mood.

Good parts
1. New skins and items
2. Of course downtown and dating
3. The new social interactions
But that is about all thats new, and all I need to be new.,...

BAD PART
1. Even with an excellent VERY fast computer Hot date still runs a little slow.
2. Its hard to go downtown with somebody, you have to be in a perfect mood
3. I don't think maxis got all of the problems out, people have complained of crashing
4.It takes forever to load the game, like 10 min.

I love the sims and i play them continuously, but i think they could've made it a little better. I hope this review helps in making your decision. Only get it if you can have patience with the drawbacks of the game.
I'll tell you this, I'm glad I got it, but HOT DATE is not perfect.

First of all, I want to say that I'm from The Netherlands. So don't be surprised when you find a lot of fouls in this text. Anyway, I'm a big lover of sim games and I'm surely gonna buy Hot Date when it's available. I haven't yet seen any screenshots, but I've read some texts about it and it looks like a cool game to me. I bought the original game and both expansions (Livin' Large & House Party) and every single part was worth the money (at least, that's what I thought) I'm almost sure that Hot Date will be exactly the same. So actually, I don't even have to buy and play this game to think it's a success game and I'm sure that the people from Electronic Arts and Maxis have done their best on this third expansion of the best game ever!!! Greetings, Luuk van Vorselen
