Great fun for a five year old

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 2
Date: January 05, 2007

I bought this game for my five year old son for his birthday. He enjoys running around, smashing, and breaking things. It has held his attention pretty well, but the game lacks much of a theme or plot. If you just want to vent some hostility this game is for you, though.

Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction

This game will allow you to do so much more than the first Hulk game did.Everything in this game is destroyable even buildings.Hulk will be able to climb buildings and jump very high and great distances.Hulk will even be able to destroy vehicles and use them for boxing gloves or skates. As the hulk you will also be able to propel people into the air and punch them while in the air.Hulk will also be able to catch missiles from helicopters and throw them back.Bosses will include Abomination,Mercy,Devil Hulk,Hulkbusters(robots)etc. This game will be similar to Spiderman 2 free roam also there will be side challenges that allow you to upgrade moves. This is going to be the best hulk game yet.

The best comic based game I have ever played

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 3 / 5

Now, I have played several comic based games and most of them were awesome... some of them were crapsome. Here is a little lis over them:

Spider-Man (PSone) Horrible 0/10
Spider-Man 2 (PSone) Average 5/10
Spider-Man 2 (PS2) Awesome 9/10
The Hulk (PS2) Forgettable 6/10
Fantastic Four (PS2) Awesome 9/10

The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is the only title missing and the score is coming towards you right now.

The graphics are good. The Hulk looks good, the citizens and enemies are poorly detailed and the environments are dashing. Well... thats the reason it's good not great. Well, TH: UD has a graphical (Translation from nerdish: about the graphics) problem Spider-Man 2: The Movie did not have: Bland objects. See? You can see right through object and even the Hulk sometimes. The cut-scenes look great though not being different to the Fantastic Four game at all.

The sound is good, but lacking. For starters there is no music (Why?) and the sound effects are a bit weak at times. The voices are all quality though and the script is well written.

Doc Samson: Where the hell have you been?
Banner: Out getting some fresh air.

The Hulk roars are well realised and when you hit the SELECT button he will turn his head and ROAAARRR!!!

The gameplay is tweaked to perfection. For starters there are NO annoying, stupid, frustrating and basically boring Bruce Banner stealth mission like in the movie tie-in. You play as the hulk and the Hulk only. YAY! You can now also, smash everything. Take down huge buildings with wicked Critical Mass combos. You can also take hostages like women walking around, run to the top of a huge building and roar while batting down enemy helicopters, King Kong style.

Graphics
Citizens: 4/10- Badly detailed and not unique
Enemies: 4/10- Suffers from the same badly detailed problems as the citizens
The Hulk: 9/10- Well detailed and good looking
Locations: 9/10- Good buildings, bad crashes
Effects: 8/10- B-A-S-I-C
Overall: 8/10- Basically great but bland.

Sound
Voices: 10/10- A surprise. Excellent voice-over work
Roars: 10/10- Well done and satisfying :P
Music: 0/10- Duh...
SFX: 9/10- Smashing mess. Genius.
Effects: 10/10- BOOM! SLASH! CRACK! :D
Overall: 9/10- If only it had music while exploring (and smashing) the city.

Gameplay
Exploring: 10/10- This is what I call an open city
Fighting: 7/10- The human enemies are way too easy. WHY???
Shooting: 8/10- Fun but sadly not much of it seen
Difficulty: 9/10- Tough but not too
Length: 9/10- Longer than the fist and also much bigger and better
Overall: 9/10- Fun but basic.

Ultimate Overall: 9/10
Awesome and intense. A must-buy along with the following titles:

Fantastic Four
Tekken 5
Destroy All Humans!
Jak II: Renegade
Jak 3
Ratchet & Clank
SingStar

-FINAL VERDICT-
Get it now. A good but for whatever the price is.

Think Spider-Man 2--With a Not-So-Jolly Green Giant

After the success of incorporating a Marvel superhero into a free-roaming adventure (AKA: Spider-Man 2), you can't really not expect for another superhero to get his or her own adventure. The end result is Ultimate Destruction.

In Ultimate Destruction, players are able to control the Hulk and let him loose in San Francisco to cause havoc and chaos (After you complete a tutorial and your first mission). The game's story will not matter to you at all, since you'll probably be skipping all of the cinematics in order to run up buildings and hurl mini-vans into a parked sports car.

The missions, however, are very repetitive, and the game doesn't use any of the random missions found in Spider-Man 2 (Such as stop a robbery, find a child's lost balloon, get involved in a high-speed car chase etc.). It does include a number of challenges however and main missions that can completed at almost anytime, whenever you get bored of causing ultimate destruction.

The free-roaming aspect of the game however, is great. The city doesn't seem as big as the monstrous Manhattan depicted in Spider-Man 2, but it still has a nice large size. Plus, the Hulk can cause destruction even by standing still in the middle of a traffic clogged road...cars will swerve to avoid him and smash into buildings or one another. Plus, the Incredible Hulk can earn special combos and moves (Such as ripping a sports car and half and pounding them onto your fists or leaping into the air and stomping on the ground) by earning Smash Points (The equivalent of Spider-Man 2's Hero points, but instead you're causing destruction).

However, the biggest hamper on Ultimate Destruction is ultimately the missions. Each one seems to incorporate the same element (I only completed two because just unleashing destruction on the city alone is so much more fun): Retrieve or destroy. Plus, after you complete the second mission, you're given a sort of alert device: Whenever you cause a small ammount of chaos, the alert meter rises. When it fills up, you get a really difficult strike force on your time that doesn't leave you alone. The strike force seems to be way to overpowered, because even though the Hulk has a collossal ammount of power and a really tough health bar, the rocket launching helicopters, army men and Hulk sized robots easily overpower you (Espescially since you can't get near enough to the helicopters since they keep on blasting you backwards and the rockets have a tendecy to blur the camera).

All in all, the Incredible Hulk is a decent game, though its single-player missions are much too repetitive. Its worth a good rental however, though I do not reccomend purchasing it. Instead buy Spider-Man 2. Even though it is a year older and you can't cause destruction, the free-roaming element is much more abudant, the level of aerial freedom is near infinite and the single-player missions (From shutting down Doc Ock's generators to defeating a floating UFO like vehicle perched on top of the Statue of Liberty) are much more accessible.

THE HULK IS BACK!!!

The best Hulk game ever

The last time we saw a Hulk console game was in 2003, when the mega budget movie was released and the tie-in video game was as well. We all know how the film turned out (don't get me started) and the game had it's moments, but it also had a lot going against it as well. With Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, just about everything has been ratified. Gone are Bruce Banner stealth missions, the only thing you have to worry about is smashing and destroying everything in sight. Think the Spider-Man 2 game (go anywhere, do anything) only instead of helping people, you're throwing them around like ragdolls and tossing police cars into helicoptors. There are some side mission mini-games to distract from the main story (earn points to purchase new moves and abilities, as well as unlocking some neat extras) as you play as the Hulk on the run from the military in a story written by one time Hulk scribe Paul Jenkins, and eventually you'll take on other baddies, and even the Abomination. The controls are tight and responsive, but the graphics aren't as polished as one could hope (then again, this is the PS2) but they serve their purpose. The biggest drawback of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is that the gameplay will get repetitive after a while, and without the side missions, the game is pretty short. Despite that, there's still plenty going for the game, and for Hulk fans who want a more than solid game featuring the green goliath, look no further.

Hulk Smash Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

I am a huge comic book fan and love the Hulk. What's not to like? He is pure id, unmitigated rage and destruction, just what this game will do your hands and wrists after 10 minutes of play. The game is a fun experience for a few minutes and then just gets incredibly repetitive. After watching the Hulk Hands (boxing glove) animation for the 3rd time, it gets old. The action is fast and furious and you can destroy pretty much anything in your path.

The graphics as previously mentioned are subpar . The controls while decent can be frustrating. For example, if I want the Hulk to land with pin point precision on the top of a building so I can get a collectible, he will run for 100 feet or start climbing down or up, go anywhere but to where I am trying to point him. The camera controls could use some work. While it is not static and you can rotate it, it needed to be pulled back more so that you can see what is nailing you from just beyond your perimeter. It also snaps around way too fast if you just want to make a slight adjustment to it. I should not have to fight the camera while trying to play the game.

While the game does have a fair number of unlockables, like different Hulk skins and shorts, and combat moves. I found the game pretty shallow. Some of the mini games, such as racing or punching a car to a specific location are made frustrating by the unresponsive controls.

I recommend renting this game.

In spiderman 2, you could roam around. In hulk ultimate destruction you can roam around. In spiderman 2 you cant be bad or hurt anybody on the street. In the hulk:UD, you can do so. in spiderman 2 it is not that much fun to roam around. In the hulk it is. get this game if you are at least 10 years old. Definitly buy this game if you experiance stress at all! I strongly recomend this game. Buy it!

Best Super Hero Game Ever

Being a comic book character has never been so great. I just rented this game, and there are so many things I can say about it. I just don't know where to start, but I can say this game is better than SpiderMan2. Why? Because Hulk can climb and run up walls ANYWAYS. I guess I can start with the games lower point, the graphics. The graphics in the cut-scenes are nice, but compared to many other games out there, these are dated, but they are still nice to look at. The in-game graphics are nothing special at all. They are blocky and kinda rather glitch-like, but they get by. The explosions and particle effects are VERY well done though. Next, to sound. The games sound is pretty good, you get great voice overs, great smash noises, the controller rumbles, Hulk's grunts and all, this game has exceptional sound. Controls are not hard to get used to, heck, anyone can get used to them. The camera angles are often frustrating, and sometimes hard to manuever, but you generally don't need to bother unless you are locking onto a rapidly moving object. ( helicopter for instance. )

This game is extremely fun, but I jsut got it, and I can already tell this game ( even though I'm enjoying it now. ) Will most likely soon be getting repetetive. Sure it has unlockables that are mainly comic books, which is GREAT if you are a HUGE comic freak... which i'm not. SpiderMan2 has similar elements, but just doesn't compare to this game. This is an awesome game for a kid, or ANYBODY wanting to take their anger out on something, this is also a stress reliever. So if you have no punching bag, get ready to F-S-U in Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. ( I hope you know what F-S-U means. ;) )

The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Descruction is a excellent game. This game goes beyond all games. This one lets you destroy basicly everything in the game, well almost all of it. With its good graphics and great game play I give this game all 5 stars with 2 thumbs up. There might be somethings that people don't like about this game but most of the time the reviews have been good.
