i love this game, it was one of my first RPGs, i bought by acciedent though, but i am glad, its a awsome game, on a trip i could play it for hours. I love the fighting (legend of Mana Type)- you select a weapon and a magic and attack monsters, the graphics are good for the gameboy color, and the speed of the gameplay is perfect. The storyline was great and i liked the ending, the bosses were always fun and they weren't thoose wierd one that you have to attack at certain times or have puzzling defenses, the dugons are stright forward with a bit of puzzle to them, you just need to spend 10 minutes in one and you'll be a pro at that dugon. Final words:BUY THIS GAME!!!

Final Fanatsy Adventure is actually a literal prequel to the 1993 SNES game Secret Of Mana. The series, known in Japan as Seiken Densetsu ["Holy Sword Legend"], actually began on the GameBoy back in 1991. Secret Of Mana is actually Seiken Densetsu 2. Seiken Densetsu 3 was never released outside of Japan. Oddly enough, the fourth game in the series was released in Japan not as Seiken Densetsu 4, but rather as "Legend Of Mana"... though this is fitting, as it doesn't really bear much of a resemblance to the previous three games.

I love this game for a few reasons.

1. Storyline is AWSOME
2. Regular GB games are more fun than color ones because you can imagine your own colors for the game, making the gameplay more interesting.
3. My brother beat the game, and guided me when I needed help
4. It's a good classic, and I wish they made the whole FF series on gameboy and others
5. It is so surprising! I am so tensed out while playing aginst bosses that pop out of nowhere
6. It is a traditional Saving the "Princess" game
7. Sure it is old. Old games rock, and since not many people play it anymore, it takes it to a bigger challenge
8. I can play it anywhere with my gameboy ;)

I don't think anyone should hate this great game, so go and buy it!

I remember a few years ago playing this game. This was my introduction to the Secret of Mana series even though I believed this to be part of the Final Fantasy series. Maybe they called it this because they didn't know that they were going to make more games with the Mana tree, so no sense in saying FFAII and FFAIII. But the story line is definatly great. You start out as [your name for charecter here] in a forteress where the Dark Lord uses people to play in gladiator like fights. This seems like some of the Final Fantasy games where you start off with normal life for the charecter and then you delve into a rich story line. When you escape the castle, you meet up with a man who was freshly slain by monsters and a girl crying at his side. After talking to her, she tells you that she is looking for an old man. I forget his name since the time it's been, and from there, the story line becomes increasingly better. It was way ahead of it's time where it has plot twists and can bring out emotion in you. I was sad after fighting Medusa (won't say what happened) and at the tree of mana (my lips are still sealed) I don't have this game anymore so I am planning on buying it to beat it again -it's that great! There is also a remake of this game called Sword of Mana for the GBA but has minor changes that are enough for me to shun it because it will ruin my thoughts on one of the most gripping original Game Boy games ever. Buy it now!

This is one of the best games ever. What is good about this game: pacing, story, final fantasy references, gameplay, fun, and the absolute best thing about this game is that it not its' horrible remake titled Sword of Mana.

Often overlooked as one of the red-headed stepchildren of the Final Fantasy series, FFA plays more like the early Zelda games than the incarnations of Final Fantasy that we are used to. That aside, the game is amazing, with an amazingly deep plot for the time period and plenty of options to customize your weapons and armor, four character traits that you can level up, and eight spells you pick up automatically through the game. While it can't compete with the depth or graphics of its successors, FFA is definitely an oft-overlooked classic from the original Game Boy era.

...and they get along very nicely. As old as this game is, it's still one of the best that the Game Boy has to offer. As the title suggests, anyone who has played a Zelda game before will be instantly familiar with the controls and type of gameplay. Veterans of Secret of Mana will easily recognize many of the enemies, the weapons and their uses (such as using the whip to catch poles and jump across gaps), and even a few of the spells look familiar (compare the Fire spell in this game to those in Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3).

And, you'll have to. Squaresoft seems to have done something very interesting here. The enemies have somewhat low AI, and most will never be able to hit you. But, when they do manage to hit you, some of them really pack a punch. Overall, the game is pretty easy, but you can still be killed if you're too careless, which is why the next feature is so nice:

You can save anywhere. Anywhere. In towns, out in the fields, in a dungeon... in the middle of a boss battle(!). No matter where you are or what's going on, unless you're in the middle of a story scene, you can save the game. This feature alone is worth a few stars in itself.

The graphics are standard Game Boy fare, but they're detailed enough for you to see everything clearly. And, as another reviewer mentioned, there is color in it if you play it on the GBC. The music is excellent, considering how old this game is and the fact that it's on a handheld. Some of the tracks can be very repetitive, such as the town and dungeon songs, but they never really become annoying. The music playing when you're out in the fields is just great: upbeat and adventurous, just like Zelda's overworld theme, though this one plays at a faster tempo.

Secret of Mana veterans might also recognize the Max attack. When the gauge at the bottom of the screen fills, you can perform a Max attack, which will vary depending on which weapon you have equipped.

The puzzles in this game are not very difficult, but they still make for a little bit of brain teasing occasionally.

Don't expect a deep plot, though there are a few interesting twists, and don't expect a huge amount of character development. Overall, this is just a very simple, straightforward action RPG, and it doesn't try to be anything more than that. This game has enough RPG elements to get you engrossed once you start playing, but it's also nice and quick enough to just pop it in and kick some monsters around for a few minutes. I think that's part of what makes it so much fun to play. This game's a definite buy for any Game Boy owner.

The best gameboy game EVER!!

I am 20 years old. I owned one of the original chunky black and white gameboys. So I have played a lot of games over the years, and Im telling you: This one is my very favourite.
Why exactly?
Because the storyline is gripping enough to keep you interested the whole way thru and the characters within it are fantastic.
The game is challenging, but not to the point where it is frustrating.
Unlike the other final fantasy games (and pokemon etc:), in this one you actually get to fight the monsters physically with your sword, like in Zelda..........Is this a good time to mention that Zelda ripped this game off?
The game is long enough to keep you entertained for hours AND give you your money's worth.
Not only that, it is re-playable, and the next time you play, you will observe different things than the previous time.
By all means, if you have the opportunity to purchase this hard to find game, DO!

Out of all the FF I have played, this one is the best. The fighting battle is different from the rest yet it keeps you on the edge of your seat to make it very exciting.
