The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is truly amazing, there are so many possibilities in this game, you can customize just about everything.
Pros- Very Realistic, Good story-line, Unique first person, Diverse difficulty settings.
Cons- Loading screens, sometimes you can glitch underneath a field, it will freeze(rarely) The detecting life feature i.e., if you crowtch behing somebody in the shadows, they can detect you.
Overall its a great game, and highly recommend it.

the name of this game is freedom. basically you can do what ever you want in this game and look like whatever you want. you can even be different races. in the world of oblivion there is a main quest and millions of side quests. you can play for 200 plus hours and not even touch the main quest. also this game is very addicting. highly recommended even if it is a first game for your xbox 360. BUY THIS GAME!! YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!

The short story: This game has excellent graphics, the storyline is awesome and you WILL become addicted to this game. I'm normally not an RPG gamer but this game has changed my mind. It's beautifully done, the controls make sense, and the ability to basically do whatever you want within the context of the story is great. This game is the opposite of linear games. My only complaint... the load times are sometimes long and there's lag when you go from one area to another.

The most important game ever created!*says in creepy Burger King ominous voice*

Seriously, this game is layered. The factions are completely redone and beautifly executed from story board to frame in this exciting game. The quests, main story, faction or anything else never end. There is always something to do. If you like Robert E. Howards Conan books, think of those three books(at least fifty stories) mixed with a splash of DOOM3 and you will get Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. This seriously is a great game. One review says the game is 'unecessarily gorey', okay. If the game is gory where are the falyed open hearts you covetly point out? Where are the bodies with severed legs hanging from meat hooks, or people with their faces cleaved off? There hardly is gore in this game, but intense violence was well deserved. The entire game is a slice-n-dice gamers dream. Enjoy because this game really is...The most important game ever created!*says in creepy Burger King ominous voice*

Beware, but in a good way.

When you unwrap the shrink-wrap on this game, you will hear a sucking noise in the distance. As you get closer to the opening screen, the sucking noise will get louder.

After starting the game, you will come to learn that the sucking noise is the vacuum that's sucking up all your free time. Hours upon hours will be spent in video game bliss playing this game. The only reason: it's that good.

This game was recommended to me by an 11-year-old. I'm nearly 3 times his age. We both played with equal fervor. My girlfriend plays it and loves it. It may not be Morrowind, and some hard-core gamer geeks may knock it because it's not the best technology out there. That won't detract from your enjoyment of the game.

The only good game on the 360

Some of the 360 games are okay but this is the only one that is really good. There are a few stupid things that they should have fixed. You can't even pick up an apple without 50 guards coming to get you. And they keep coming and coming and coming.
The Vampire quests are long and boring. They should also have sprinkled mirrors throughout the world so that you could often see your characters face and front profile.
But overall the game is really fun and the landscapes are breathtakingly beautiful.
If you want a real treat go to Video Google and do a search for Oblivion. There's a glitch in the game that some kid found and gives a detailed explanation on how to get unlimited gold.

I don't normally write reviews, but this game is so good, it inspired me to do so. The only negative thing I can say is that it sometimes takes a while to load from disc.

extremely fun, ever more glitchy

I'm currently sustaining a love-hate relationship with this game. It is by far the most amazing game I've ever played. The freedom to do anything and the ability to choose so many different paths never gets old. I play it alot and can never seem to put it down... until it crashes and does it for me.

This is the buggiest game I've ever played. Everything from freezing, sounds not working, music skipping, and not being able to read the disc. This is my second copy. I traded it in when my old copy starting having problems. This second one was absolutely perfect, no scratches, or marks... that is until my Xbox put them there. That's right, my 360 actually scratched the disc. The problems got worse, but I, being the big fan I am decided I would just save often and tough it out. Well, this worked for a while, until one day when I entered a plane of oblivion and it froze. I restarted it, loaded my game, and found out everytime I tried to leave the room I was in it would freeze. The floor was not rendered, it just black and when I'd move around the room it would freeze. I was a level 10 and my game is destroyed.

Be extremely cautious with this game and if you can buy it for PC or wait until is comes on PS3 because this game is very frusterating.

It's OKAY

First let me say that there are really great aspects to this game. Visually this game blows me away. At times I have found myself doing nothing but walking around the world taking in all the sights. That is where my true fascination with this game ends though, and had it not been for the stunningly beautiful world I would've rated this game lower.
I am trying to figure out why people have been so captivated by this game. The story line (or perhaps the pace of it) is literally mind-numbingly boring. I bought this game when it first came out. I played it for probably 40 hours hoping that it would eventually get interesting. It didn't, so I stopped playing it. Sometime after that I was desperate for a good RPG, and started doing some reading/research online for a good game. I ran into a review of this game and in the article they cautioned that the game was so huge it was easy to completely lose track of the main story. Keeping this in mind I started playing the game again, this time focusing on the main story. After another 30 to 35 hours of playing with the focus on the main story, I am still so bored that I don't think I will ever be able to finish this game.
The lack of a great story is the true downfall of this game. I have read where people herald things such as the realism of it turning night and day. Perhaps I am in the minority here, but this doesn't add one ounce of enjoyment to my gaming experience. Personally I found this to be quite annoying. Many times after heading into town to do some trading (because I needed money and was "over encumbered") the shops would be closed. Then you need to find something to do (without venturing out too far because the shops might be closed again by the time you get back) to kill time all night until they open again. Soooooo boring!!!!
I love being able to roam freely, but I have played (and replayed) linear games with an awesome story that I couldn't put down. It is always easy to critize, but I think if the developer had focused more on the depth of the story instead of the depth in "realism" of the world this could have been a truly great game. As it stands now though, it is barely OK. However I would probably still spend the $ just to see the level of depth they put into the world as it is pretty amazing.

has to be best rpg of all time...until the sequel

Oblivion is well known for being one of the most interactive, fun, addicting rpg's of all time. And possibly, it could be true.

PRO's

-The graphics are AMAZING!!! the sunsets, the towns, the rivers, the forests its just made so beautifully

-The gameplay is great. For big rpg players, it shouldnt take that much time to get the hang of, but for newbies of the rpg, it might take a while. Dont worry though, just keeping playing and soon enough you'll master it.

-It is really really long. Seriously, it seems like the game will never end. You have the main quest(which is long by itself), a list of different guilds to complete(Fighter's Guild, Mage's Guild, Theft's Guild, and The Dark Brotherhood, each take a good length of time to finish) There is also a Gladiator-Like arena to fight in. That once you finish, you can keep fighting in it to make extra gold, plus many townsfolk have problems that are need of your assistance, many caves to travel through, places to explore, shrines, and so much more. It unbelievable.

-AI is perfect. It seems like everyone in the game has there own personality. If someone who is a close friend of your character dies, you actually feel like you lost a real friend! its kind of scary if you think about how in depth the game is.

-unlike many games, you really get to choose from a selection of your characters race, and also choose his birthsigns, and whichever one you choose will decide what your character trates are and how experienced his is in certain catagories.

-The replay value is just as fun as your first time playing. Since you can onl choose from on race and birthsign for one game, you could play 10 seperate new games and they would all in some ways come out differently.

CON's

-The only minor flaw is the loading time. It takes a while to load some maps and when you walk around for a long period of time it will randomly freeze for a split of a second to load during gameplay constantly (mostly if your in the forest) but dont let that small flaw make you not purchase this game. Because everything else is near perfect if not, perfect.

-It would of been fun to have some sort of online play for this game. But hey, as fun as it already is, not a big deal at all.

Overall...well, I think you get it. Oblivion is one of the best games out right now, and it will go down in gaming history. A must have for any type of gamer.
