I found that the original Pokemon titles were highly adictive and fun to play. In the TCG though, I was rather dissapointed. Their is no real thrill in catching the pokemon, and training them to become strong. All you do is build decks (which you could do in real life anyway) to defeat the 8 clubs and the 4 grandmasters (which are relativly easy compared to the Elite Four in Blue, Red and Yellow).

This game does have some fun things. The challenge halls I find are great ways to test decks against random opponents. It's also a good way too get Promo cards, like Level 8 Mew. Also, Dr. Mason's devious challenge machine is a good way to find out how well you did when building a deck.

All in all, if I had the choice, I would rather play with paper the polygons.

If you liked the card game. Look no further. The game offered us hours of gameplay and together with my son I am discovering every day/week newer tactics. It's not easy to translate a good board or cardgame into a computer game (look at the bad translations for PC on games like Magic or Diplomacy), but here - on a tiny Game Boy ! - they succeeded completely. Best programming effort in recent years and a lot of fun. Was fortunate to buy it while we were in the US ( still being unreleased in Europe). I couldn't have bought a better cartridge.

Nice!

This game is very, very good! The controls are simple, the game play is clear, and it is very enjoyable! The only bad part is that the game will sometimes go harder than usual on you, even if it's and easy player.

Easier to Collect

The cards in this game are a lot easier to collect than in real life, making it easier to collect the cards and make better decks.

Good way to learn how to play the card game

I just want to say that I think this is a great game because it could teach kids how to play the Pokemon Card Game. In your first duel, Dr. Mason, the man who gives you your first Pokemon cards, gives you step-by-step instructions on what to do. He teaches you what the energy cards mean, how to make your Pokemon evolve, etc. I think this is great, because when I first tried to play the card game with my nephew, it turned out neither me or my nephew knew how to play the game! After playing the game for a little while, I feel I'll be able to try the actual card game.

Highly addictive and cheaper than boosters

A very fun and highly addictive game. Play against the computer, any time you want and build decks without flipping through binders of cards. I will definately say that the thrill of winning electronic booster packs of cards and is just as real as having paid for each pack. Learn great trading card strategy and collect game exclusive cards. I play with my 9 year old son and 50 year old father. Thumbs up.

Life is imitating art, and it is imitating life again. Pokemon started out as a video game, went to a card game, now there is a video game about the card game? Come on its just like: The making of: The making of: Titanic! I have had just about enough pokemon for one life time
