I have played the N64 mario tennis and it is awesome! But this game is nothing like the N64 version. This game is boring and only has a few characters from the Mario series. The graphics are okay. I really hope they come out with a Mario Tennis For the GameBoy Advance that is more realistic. I am also very Happy they are coming out with mario Golf Advance Tour.

This is not a bad game, but it definitely leaves you wanting more. It's cute but it's not a winner, the controls are not quite there, after a couple of hours of play you start to get frustrated with it.
The horrid graphics and sound is a big turnoff.
As the title implies this isn't the king of tennisgames on the GBC I'd go for Snoopy any day in the week.
Fun for a while but not really a realistic tennis game---

Mario tennis. While this is a very easy game to learn it is not especially realistic to an experienced tennis player. While i admit that mario tennis is fun for a while it is not anything like "Real" tennis. When I first get the game and went to play exhibition mode with "Mario and his Friends" i was disgusted find only: Luigi, Baby Mario and DK (Mario and Peach can be unlocked in Tour mode)and the play does not exacly blow you off your feet. It seems at first more like a big game of ping-pong than tennis.
The game becomes more fun when you enter "Mario Tour" though. You are invited to join the "Royal Tennis Academy" to train for your tennis. You start out in the junior class in both singles and doubles and have to work your way up to the senior class (done so by winning matches and beating the top ranked player in the class) and then to the varsity court and then to traveling team. I must point out that the play is extremely easy through the first three classes (the first time i played tour mode i didn't lose a game until the traveling team.)Then the fun begins. You go to the island open to compete, win the tournament and become top ranked at the academy. You are then invited to go challenge Mario "The Greatest Player Ever" (the over statement of the centuary) you beat him, beat the game. 3 hours tops and you've beaten the game and the fun of the game is gone. One good thing though is the people you play tour mode you can play in exhibition mode now.
My Biggest complaints are:
1. It is impossible to hit a winner from the baseline
2. It is impossible to miss (serves included)
3. Until you get your tour player to about level 50 you can't win a point without comming to net (because you cannot hit the ball hard enough from the baseline.)
I know that this is about as close to a "real tennis game" as you can get for gameboy color. but if you have a gameboy advance any one of the 4 tennis games for that is better than this.
The bottom line is if you're looking for something with mario charecters this is for you. But if you're looking for something real this is not.
My Huge reccomendation is that you go and check out "Tennis Masters Series" for the PC. It is really realistic and alot more competitive. You can check it out on amazon.com ...

dont get me wrong this is a great game, but it took me 2 hours to beat it. ther is only 1 tournament when you make the varsity and then you play mario and then you win. it is also way too easy. i never lost a match. heck, i never came close! unless you have the N64 transfer pak dont get this game. (the n64 transfer pak gets you a lot more characters and stuff)

I am a big fan of the N64 version of Mario Tennis, so I hoped when I bought the GBC Mario Tennis that it would live up to my expectations. Too bad.
I understand that this is a handheld version, which is just fine, but this game suffers in a few vital areas. First, it doesn't feel like a true "Mario" title---especially in the RPG mode. Second, the tennis action is simple enough to grasp, but it stops there. Too simple almost; there is a lack of depth in the playability department. Third, the sound effects, but you knew that already. And last but not least--the whole concept of a RPG tennis game just doesn't work, sorry folks. I tried playing it the other day, and it just doesn't click. The mini games are silly; the characters that you meet are annoying, etc.
This game is mediocre at best...I would stick to the N64 version.

After playing and mastering Mario Gold it is time to move on to another game. Mario Tennis is the perfect game- both are developed by Capcom and therefore have a lot of similarities. You are once again a player at the bottom of the totem pole and have to develop your skills to gain experience and climb up in the rankings. The climb is not too difficult (but then again don't we all play these games because we want to beat the computer players) and the training is a fun way to pick up experience points. The graphics are as good as can be expected for GBC and since I am always playing on the bus or the airplane I never hear the sound anyway. Mario Tennis is another great Mario game that you can spend many hours playing and having fun.

This game isnt as good as the nintendo game, but its still quite good. Mario Tennis on the gameboy is till a good conversion and the realisim is very good. As with the 64 version when you beat other players you gain experience points which state where you will be placed in the rankings. There are several characters to choose from so there is bound to be one that you willbe able to manage. Mario Tennis is possibly the best tennis game on the gameboy, but if you like tennis that much then i recommend that you buy the 64 version. (or alternativly have both versions as you can download your data from the gameboy through the transfer pack)
fun but not enough mario characters

I am obsessed with this awsome tennis game! There are alot of people to choose from . But sadly, there are only three mario characters and two to unlock. In addition to mario tennis there is a RPG mode ! It took me 15 hours to beat it! Now i need to get the n64 version to tranfer some mario characters to the game boy color version with a transfer pak! Get this but don't expect alot of mario characters!
