cool game, cooler story line

this game is great! The grail as done here is something that has always fascinated me. I won't give the plot of the game away but I will say that it is very historicaly accurate. The game draws you right in, you have to do a lot of looking aroud and talking to people but as you progress more opens up to you , I really like this type of interface it makes you feel like you are really there. If you liked gabe 2 then you will really like this it takes a bit to get used to gabe in this but once you do it seems very natural. So if you want an adventure game that you can't stop playing than get this one.

Just plain great!

The interface is very simple. You click on whatever is there, then some options pop up, and you click on the button you want.

The graphics, while the character models may not be great, are overall pretty good. The character animations were great...almost as good as real actors! The textures in the game are even cooler. I've never seen a game with such detailed textures!

The story is even better! The story starts out as one thing, then as you go through the game it slowly becomes something totally different and so much bigger!

The puzzles are fun and rewarding when they are completed. I just have one complaint about the puzzles though...one in particular is painfully hard and long.

Overall, this game is great! Get it!

A worthy addition to a gaming legacy

While Gabriel is protecting the infant heir of an English Prince from "the night visitors", the baby is kidnapped right out from under his nose. Gabriel trails the kidnappers to a small town in France called Rennes-le-chateau, which is the site of an ancient mystery involving a buried treasure rumored to be the holy grail. Strangely enough, his old friend Mosely is also in Rennes-le-chateau on a "treasure-hunting tour". And of course, in classic mystery fashion, every member of the tour group has his or her own secrets, casting them all in a cloud of suspicion. Things really heat up when Gabriel's assistant/partner Grace arrives, and, similar to GK2, the player alternates between playing each of the main characters in a race to solve the mystery of Rennes-le-chateau and find the missing child.

Although the 3D graphics occasionally falter, especially on computers that might not be souped up with top-of-the-line 3D accelerator video cards, the storytelling - always the highlight of this series - is sound. In a unique move, the other characters in the game go about their business -change locations, have conversations- even when you're not there, prompting you to be a true detective, choosing your suspects and following them to investigate their actions. The voice acting is some of the best I've seen in a video game, especially Charity James as Grace. Fans will rejoice at hearing Tim Curry, who returns once again to give voice to Gabriel Knight. Curry, while -good- as Gabriel Knight, seems to switch accents on us in spots from New Orleans to a general Southern US accent. It also seems rather out of character from a N.O. native such as Gabe, who was able to pronounce several odd French words well in the first game, to falter now on such simple words as "merci".

A tale of buried treasure, secret societies, ancient bloodlines, and puzzling relationships, Gabriel Knight 3 is a wonderfully complicated storyline, though not recommended if you're squeamish about digging into religious topics. Calling this game a "vampire story" oversimplifies it and does it no justice. If you're expecting hollywood vampires of the Bram Stoker or Anne Rice variety, look elsewhere. Jensen puts a new spin on the tried and true vampire legends, and does it with style, pizzazz, and all around daring storytelling.

After all, it's all about the blood.

Knight 3

This game is brilliant. It's my first game in the Knight series and I was completely immersed in the game right from the very beginning.
The plot comprises of a supernatural mystery. The story is great and the characters are amiable. Each character is well drawn as a subplot that contributes well to the main plot. The identity of Mr. Baza is quite a surprise by the end. The subplot between Gabriel and Grace is open ended. Mystery freaks wouldn't mind replaying the game over and over again along with those who would like to get the total score of 965.
Game play is easy. You are caught in time blocks and to complete each time block you have to perform certain series of required actions. This is what I liked best about the game because you get the feeling that you are moving in the right direction and hence you needn't worry about replaying any part of the game.
At times I got stuck solving the mystery and had to take a look at hint sites and found out that nothing is impossible in any mystery game if you really have the time and patience to look into every nook and corner.
The ending was great. Oh I simply loved the puzzles once Gabriel enters the cave. They were fun. I do have one complaint with this game - I wish it didn't have to end at all.
5 STARS.

I have been playing adventure games for almost a decade and nothing has ever compared. It's been a long time since I played but from what I remember - the storyline if extremely creative and intellectual, the animation very beautiful, the types of challenges varied and entertaining, and the long gameplay never gets boring. One thing I loved about this game in comparison to the scores of others I've played since is that it is not all doom and gloom or just some boring deserted place with weird machinery to explore - there are tons of characters to interact with and a huge variety of interesting places to visit (i.e. an opera house, a zoo, and little french town). Be sure that this game can be played on your computer as it only lists up to Windows 98.

Wonderful!

I found this game to be great. It was just what I expected, thrilling and a bit spooky. I recommend this game. If you like the first two Gabriel Knight games you will love this one.

GK3

I thought the sotry of the game was very good. As with the other GK games, there's a lot of history to wade through, however I found it very fun. The only thing I didn't like was the graphics. I think they could have spent more time on that. The movies in between some of the chapters were the same polygonic 3D images from the game instead of realistic movies. There is also a lot of religion in the game (many different types), but it's not telling you what's right or wrong.

It's worth the money, buy the 3D is sometimes annoying.

Fantastic game!

it's one of my favorites. i've played the second one aswell but not the first one. I enjoyed very much and had some trouble with it. Not so easy, but i was quite young at that time. Now i'm ready for something as gabriel knight! I've had it for quite some time now but i had some pc problems which in the end ended up to be cd-rom problems. i couldn't play it properly so i left it on the self in order to take care of it later. i replaced it with a new one but still the problems are there. it must relate to the sound or sth. anyway i play with it but sometimes it just stucks and restarts. So i have to save a lot! After i a strenuous work in restarting my pc 5 times within an hour i'm now on the third day. I'm very anxious to see how it ends! as a story is facinating! will gabriel and grace get together in the end? i'm so interested in finding out! but i'm also interested in solving the great anygma. Vampires, the holy grail, christ and other mysteries come on surface! hope it has a nice ending! i expect that from it and i will be dissapointed if it doesn't!
