I have been a fan of GK since the very first one. I was particularly interested in this one because of the link with Holy Blood, Holy Grail and with Foucault's Pendulum. I am most impressed with the camera panning, making it much easier to see where you are. I might have been less enthused if I didn't have a background in Romance languages.

GK3 is a fantastic game with astounding graphics and user interaces that are actually user friendly. The return of Tim Curry as Gabriel is an added plus. I'd give it another star if possible.
Gabe and Grace strike again!

Despite the BICTE (Better In Conception Than Execution)graphics, this is a great game. I was hesitant to try this series because I'm not a horror fan, but the blood'n'guts aspect is extremely mild in all three: I have not been hesitant to have my four year old in the room with me when I play. Jane Jensen's depth and ability to write absorbing plot lines just continues to improve. While in this one she has Gabe nominally tackle the subject of vampires, she weaves an enjoyably complex plot that involves the Holy Grail, the Knights Templar, the Freemasons and a lot of other fun bits of off-beat mysticism. Sections in which the gamer learns a possible "identity" of the Wandering Jew and the way in which Gabe's family's schatenjager history got its start are truly touching (although if you are a hard core fundamentalist Christian, you might find some of the material philosophically objectionable). A cadre of neat, new puzzles revolves around the use of a computer Grace has programed with all the info a schatenjager could *ever* need -- if you're stuck on a problem, it's fun to just search the database for info on Wicca, the Freemasons, magic, and the Star of Bethlehem. The foray into 3-D animation results in an absorbing world, although the "people" animation has been done much better in games like the *Journeyman* trilogy. I prefered the video clips used in the second GK game to this polygon animation that is not much better than that used in the awful *Mask of Eternity*, also by Sierra (a thoroughly misnamed *Kingsquest* game). But at least it gives us back the silken-voiced Tim Curry as Gabe: who would guess this versatile actor also voices Nigel Thornberry?!
An extremely ambitious undertaking

From it's solid 3d presentation, to it's immersive free roaming gameplay, to it's unique integrated puzzles, GK3 ups the ante for adventure games on this release..The experience is quite an immersive one, although I found some of the puzzles too tedious and actually got burnt out with the game for a while because of it....Probally my fault though, as the extremely high praise for this game makes me remember what it was like to once install a game that actually attempted to be an experience, rather then a mere game.

I have always loved the Sierra Games, and have played most adventure games out there. Time has passed this game by. The interface is bad, parts of the character's bodies fade in and out as you move around. I have a very fast machine and the game sputters along at incredibly slow speeds. Compared to The Longest Journey and Syberia which both have fantastic graphics and very good interfaces (and even Grim Fandango - a great game with a very awkward interface), I would advise skipping GKIII. You will just be frustrated, I quit about 1/2 way through.
Poor entry in the GK series

I loved the first two Gabriel Knight games ("Sins of the Father" and "The Beast Within"). They were creepy, well-researched, and had great atmosphere.
Well, "Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned" had great potential -- Rennes-le-Chateau and vampires! Neat! But poor gameplay really squandered that potential.
To give you an example of what I mean, one of the puzzles involves getting a vehicle so Gabriel can get from one place to another. A perfectly good motor scooter (I think; it's been a while) is available. But noooooo ... Gabriel refuses to ride something so wussy. He has to have a big motorcycle. So that's the puzzle -- getting the selfish jerk a motorcycle to ride.
Let me get this straight. He's a detective trying to solve a case, but he's going to waste time finding a cooler ride?
That was the point where I threw the game out the window, so I can't comment on how it ends, unfortunately. The voice acting was pretty lame; I don't know who told Tim Curry he could do a New Orleans accent, but he can't.
Now that [the price has dropped], it's worth trying if you're really into Gabriel Knight. Otherwise, there are much better adventure games out there that are also dirt cheap. Try one of them.
GK3, a great game, but not the equal of 1 or 2

I really wanted to love this game the way I loved the first and second in the series, but...in the end, I just don't. It's a great mystery marred by a lack of truly interesting characters (pretty much only Gabe, Grace, and Mose are interesting) and by a rotten pacing. The tension never really starts to build until it's almost too late, and even then it's not up to the kind of delicious tension and suspense the first two games displayed. Is it a good game? Oh yes. The gameplay is marvellous, it's so neat to explore a fully 3D world in an adventure game and to be able to view things from any given angle, but...it's not the equal of the first two in story, pacing, suspense, or character. The mystery is very well done, but the story around it could've been a lot better. STill worth playing if you're a fan!
A long time fan very satisfied...

I've been a fan of the Gabriel Knight series ever since the first game came out several years ago. Like it's two predecessors, this game is full of interesting characters (Mosely especially!) and lots to research and explore before the stunning conclusion. I'm not religious, but I was moved by the ending and the whole "Holy Grail" premise Jane Jensen put forth in the story. I'm also looking forward to replaying the game, because I finished it 100 points shy of the total. (Most of the time I get a perfect score in adventure games!) I certainly hope Jane Jensen has the means and desire to create a fourth GK adventure!

As a longtime fan of the Gabriel Knight series, I was so looking forward to playing this game. In spite of the troubles I'd heard plagued the new 3d world, I was rarin' to go on a new adventure with Gabe and Grace. Imagine my disappointment, then, when I found almost no storytelling at all. The puzzles were nothing to write home about, either. And Tim Curry was sadly miscast as Gabe. Still, I was gonna tough it out, just to see what happened. Was I in for a shock! I spend all this time wading through a sea of mediocrity, only to have this game tell me that my God is dead, and my faith is a lie! Not wanting to take the chance that some other poor fool might possibly play my copy after I threw it away, I actually broke the CDs first. This game was one of the greatest letdowns I've experienced in 10 years of PC gaming.

It may be an excellent adventure game, however I cannot get it to work. I have a P700, 16Mb 3D Video Board, 128Mb RAM, and it just locks when I run it! I tried to get help from Sierra's web site, but the game is so new there is nothing published. So, beware, the game may not work on your computer! You may want to give them a little more time to work out the bugs and publish some patches.
