True To Life Naval Action

This is an excellent game. Its very realistic in the unfolding of modern naval combat. If you are looking a shoot-em-up or midless blasting of everything in sight, this game is not for you. Modern naval combat is not like it is in the movies or TV, there are stretches of slow, deliberate strategic movement followed by short and intense mindblowing frenzies of combat. The game also really duplicated the dreaded "fog-of-war" where things moves so quick, you can't keep up with everything. This game was the perfect simulation of real-time, real-life naval warfare. In no less than what you would expect from something with the "Jane's" name on it.

A cluttered stragity game

I am a Jane's fan but this one missed the mark. The interface is sloppy, cluttered and control is confusing. The graphics are not bad but this one is un-fixable no matter how many patches are made. There are problems starting the game and the online patch didn't fix any of my problems. There has to be a better Naval combat sim out there.

My extremly critical review of Janes Fleet Command.

This an extremly boring game. All you so is sit there for an hour or two and right click. Sometimes something exciting happens, but other than that do not get this game or you just have another forty-dollar dust collector!

Jane's does it again.

I bought Usaf then F/A 18 then WW2 fighters and now fleet command I have been a big Jane's fan and now that I bought this game I wonder does Jane's always make games this great.

First, the point of this game is to use a navy fleet to totaly destroy your enemy. This game takes a long time to play but it's an excellent time killer. You have to command Battle ships and even carriers and their aircraft. From the battle ships you can shoot anything from guns to Tomahawk Cruise Missiles. On the carrier you can control the aircraft and helicopters and you can even put aircraft on alert 5 which is on the catapult so if any goes wrong you can launch them right away.

Well to be Frank, if your looking for a True full scale modern naval simulation dont stare to hard at Janes Fleet Command. At first Glance the harpoons flying off destroyers in a climatic scene looks very similar to CNN without a doubt. Shortly after playing i relized it was seemed to be more of an acion game than that of a simulation. As many others have said you are thrown into the battles which takes alot of planning and strategy away. Were is naval Combat without the strategy? The graphics are beautiful as a harpoon fan i always wondered what it would look like to watch my cruiser fire 8 harpoons in rapid sucession. Well now ive seen it. Great graphics, no strategy really the strategy is kinda forced on ya its either this way or take a few hits. Data is ok but nothing compared to the ship databases in harpoon of 10 years ago. No weapons changes? comon now that is just lazy programming there.

Well if harpoon of tens years ago meet the graphics of Fleet command i am sold

This game reminded me of 'missle command' at an arcade. You don't have to have any strategy, you just need to be quick with your SM-2 firing buttons and mouse.

fleet command is a game for someone with brains. it has a simple point and click interface which is easy to use. fleet command requires you to make the tactical decisions of a fleet including aircraft, carriers, subs,ect.

Although it is growing dated, Jane's Fleet Command is the most complete war at sea simulation currently available. This is a great game for a low price.

I bought this game largely on the reviews here.

I have been a Harpoon fanatic since the game came out. At first glance, despite the fantastic graphics, I realized that this game appeared much less flexible than my ancient Harpoon. For example, I couldn't figure out how to change the loadout of aircraft for different missions.

Like another reviewer, I noticed "no big book" came with the machine. Of course, after looking at the game files, I found the book, and a big book it is, 168 pages in a PDF file that is impossible to read and more difficult to print.

I called EA about this. They are going to charge me $5 for a manual that should have come with the game. I will pay it because the alternative is throwing the game in the trash. It is absolutely outrageous that they sell a game this complex with no accessible manual. If not for this, this game would rate 5 stars. Nuff said.

I DONT NOW WHY THE REVIEWERS GAVE THIS GAME 3,4 STARS ONE PERSON SAID ITS BORING BUT IT ISNT I AM A LITTLE MORE EXPERINCED IN THAT GAME AND I NOW IT ISNT SO BUY IT.
