Unless you cheat like a Cacodemon, otherwise you get killed quick. This expansion pack takes the award for the Fastest Killing of a Player, less than 3 minutes. The only game that is as bad is the first Aliens Vs. Predator game.
I bought this dark game at the discount bin of my local game store, thinking that it would be more interesting (or fun) than the original game (which I played all the way to the end, cheat-cheat-cheat). I was expecting something like a more intense version of Serious Sam but it plays alot like Resident Evil.
In contrast, Half-Life 2 was alot more fun to play - despite its Police-State registration process.
Doom 3 needs to be more fun and less Funhouse.

If you are thinking of buying this game:
1. Play Doom 3 again.
0r
2. Buy F.E.A.R.
It is almost exactly the same as Doom 3.

i really liked how they added the double barrel shotty and changed those ugly heads back to skulls cause the ones in Doom3 were kinda gay looking...lol but i think that mostly because the ones in here look so much better. this one takes a little more memory to run, but it's such an awesome expansion.

This game was boring compared to the awesome DOOM3. One of the most frusrating aspects of the Expansion Pack is that the entire game is in almost total darkness. Halfway through the 2nd level I had a splitting headache. It's also very short with a rather abrupt, anti-climactic ending. The boss fights at the end of the levels are very challenging and next to impossible to complete. Fortunately, I know how to bring up the cheat consule and put myself in god mode to send the demons back where they belong. The console comes in handy for DOOM3 also. I love the DOOM games, but this version was a let down. Still, I'm glad I purchased it, and got a good price from an Amazon seller.
An excellent expansion for Doom 3

Basically, if you liked Doom 3 then you will love Resurrection of Evil. If you didn't care for Doom 3, then you will most likely not like this at all either. I loved Doom 3, so I was highly anticipating this expansion. This is even better than Doom 3 was. There is more variety, a quicker pace throughout, more action, and the length is perfect. I'm glad that this is shorter than Doom 3, because sometimes Doom 3 seemed to drag on a little bit too much towards the middle part of the game. The graphics are still absolutely beautiful and the new monsters and weapons are a welcome addition. The new grabber gun seems to be a copy of Half-Life 2's gravity gun but its still fun to use and the artifact(which replaced the soul cube) is a blast to use during puzzles or tough parts like hard enemies, bosses, etc. My favorite new addition however, is the double barrel shotgun which brings back good memories of Doom 2. Overall, if your craving more Doom 3 action then definitely don't hesitate to buy this.

Better overall. Smooth install. Better weapons. The Artifact is fun to use. Faster and more variable levels. Just when it starts to get too tedious (and it does), some element of the game significantly changes and it's more fun again. Only a few problems to solve during the game. There was nothing particularly amusing about this game, no real levity, and I never really felt like my monster fighting skills were improving from level to level. Neat graphics though, claustrophobic environment, better blasting satisfaction, but for me...no real immersion.
For a WORLD GONE MAD, goofy and imaginative, visually very interesting, often really creepy, a "how the hell am I supposed to do that", blast 'em to pieces, WHOA kinda game.... PAINKILLER :)
Better than the original

This game is 10x better than the game it came with. Get this game and you will experience doom! The level designs are more interesting and frightening. The action is faster and makes you think quick. Much Much better than regular doom3.
