They need to do some changes with these games. It's all been a button mashing balancing act. Something like Skate broke new boundaries with skating video games. This game proves to be best when at a drinking party.

This game is great, really fun and full of your average skate stupidities with new ones such as seeing how much you can hurt yourself LOL. Really good game and really good tricks and gameplay. Theres only one thing wrong with it, it doesn't really have a storyline like all the other tony hawk games. The point of the game is to rank up all the way to the top eight and you start out at like 180 so yeah. Just complete objectives and get to the rank. Besides the storyline, thats the only con.
eighth game not number one

this is fun and well worth the price that its going for right now, just as good as the last few games but not the best. one of the cool features is called nail the trick. It goes into slo mo and you can control the way the board spins with the dual sticks. Other than nail the trick the game is essentially the same as the others, so if you like TH then get this, personally im going to be enhoying skate for its new technology. either way i recommend this game!

this is overall my favorite tony hawk game. although 2 more are coming out soon, i don't think they will be so good. they should stop for a breather every couple of years, jeez! bad call on activision's part. this game, which is so much better then american wasteland, is better suitable for children and is physically unbelievable. buy buy buy!!! :-)

Much like the other versions of Tony Hawk, you can skate anywhere without being restricted to missions. I've played for many hours at a time without realizing the time of day from beginning to finish. Online is fun, but the global interest has apparently diminished so you pretty much have to invite friends to play, rather than join existing skates.
Enjoyable but Wasteland was Better

I just got an xbox 360 and this was the first game I got. I've beaten every game in the tony hawk series minus downhill jam. The large world was nice but the list of goals was way too short. Some of the goals are unclear as to what you are supposed to do. I'm not disappointed I bought the game but I was hoping the cutscenes would be better (granted the ones in wasteland had worse animation than the actual gameplay). All the actual video of pros they had in the game was a nice change, and the motion capture looked good. I would have enjoyed it more if there were more goals.
Tony Hawk is back.

Tony Hawk Project 8 simultaneously captures the feel of the original games, while adding many new tricks, features, and challenges. The graphics are great, and the gameplay is fun for both beginners and experienced players. Two player splitscreen mode allows two players to skate together, challenging each other in several gametypes, or just free-skating. This game is a wonderful addition to my xbox360 collection, and I recommend it.
Good game for the value.

Compared to some of the eariler Tony Hawk games this game is just ok. I really like the THPS series and the T.H.U.G. series better. At $24.99 it was a good buy.

I have played and completed every Tony Hawk game, and I think I finally put away my skateboard and have moved on. There is nothing new in this game that you've never seen. The graphics are great, sure, but the gameplay gets boring quick and there isn't much incentive to play through this one unless you have some sick syndrome like me where you need every achievement point possible.
Rental at best, it can be beat in 5 days if you burn through it. If your little brat has never played a TH game before he will be blown away. For veterans, stay away. Pick a new hobby like curling or women.
Good Tony Hawk game, but no inovations here

The game has been fun overall, but it really didn't add much to the franchise. The graphics are really good, but for a game that had 7 other installments in the series it just feels a little dated. I usually enjoy story driven games, so Tony Hawk UnderGround 2 and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland are the games i enjoyed the most in the series. This game lacks the story.
But, it's still a fun game. The challenges are set up that you can choose to do the Normal, the Pro and the Sick challenge without having to restart the game at a different difficulty, which was my favorite change.
