I'll tell you right up front that I'm writing this review based on playing only the first 10% of this game.
I just received this game for Christmas. At the same time, I got Rainbow Six: Vegas and Marvel:Ultimate Alliance, both games for the more "mature" crowd. I'm 27 years old and have also been playing Gears of War recently. Despite the selection I have, I've played this Lego game for the past three nights without even considering anything else, and I'll continue to play it until it's finished.
This game can be described quite simply: FUN. There's a ton to do, a ton to unlock, secrets everywhere, and a ton of characters to play as. You know the story but this game adds its own touches. All the other reviews have mentioned the humor so I won't say much more about it.
The art is simple. The music is taken straight from the movies, as are the sound effects. Everything seems right. The textures could be more detailed, though.
It is easy. Playing this with kids would be great. They're going to love it and they won't get frustrated. However, really young kids who haven't seen the movies probably won't get as much enjoyment because they're not going to know the story. The game assumes you know the story. My daughter is 13 months old and she just stands still and stares at the screen as I play this game. It's very colorful and easy to watch.
High recommended. I can't wait to get home tonight and play it more.
Lots of fun!!!!

I bought this game for my 7 year old son as a Christmas present and he absolutely loves it! He has the first Legos Star Wars for episodes I, II and III and eventhough he enjoyed it a lot, this one is even better. He likes that you can create characters by mixing body parts. There are some pretty funny parts in the game too. Every now and then I will jump in and play with him and I have noticed that the graphics are much better and crisper than the first game. He would play all day and all night if I let him. It is a pretty cool game!!

This is a great game and isn't just for the kids. Gears of War, FEAR, and so forth are my type of games but this one found its way into my library and it's a lot of fun. I never played the first Lego Star Wars, the concept didn't really appeal to me, but I downloaded the demo for this one on XBox Live (can't beat free, right?) and was hooked.
A lot of people have commented on the great graphics of the game and at first I was skeptical-- it's Legos, how good can the graphics possibly be? However, I was pleasantly surprised, it really is a good looking game.
The number of extras and collectibles is huge, certain to have you playing long after you've completed all of the missions.
Overall, great game; plenty of innocent fun and full of laughs if you're a Star Wars fan.

We purchased the xbox 360 and this game the same day. Our entire family fell in love with it! The controls are easy to follow and the game-play linear. It's not simplistic nor is it solely for kids. I can't stop playing it. The characters are well thought out. The humor involved clearly shows a great love of the films and will be enjoyed by all.

I rented the first one and well ,dinit really like it. As soon as i was was done i dinit feel the need to look in every nook and cranny to get money.Yes the idea was truly wonderful.Legos good VS.legos bad.If there was a best idea award i would of given it to them. But still it wasnt that good. Then one day at shool someone mentioned they were coming out with the oringanal trilogy. What i dinit know was this game was going to be one of the best games of the year. Who know that the thing we spend hours on just to have our little sister destroy it during pody break could be so good (im talkin about legos.)Its truly beautifull graphics. Its lovebal charactors you play. And its cutsceens in true star wars fashion. Its gameplay is truly fantastic and youll play hours of it without end.Youll see all the characters from the first one.Darth vader from this game was awarded 5 best villian in game informer. Its truly wonderful.youll play masterfully constructed levels .Really the only problem is the view it can be frusterating at times .But that doesnt make it worse.Although some guys may label it kiddie i think the shoot outs in this game can get about as intense as call of duty at times. Its as voilent as graw yet as kiddie friendly as barney. This game is a true master piece and recomend it to any star wars fan young or old .MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.
Better Than The Original!

I have been playing this game since I bought it yesterday and I have to say that it is incredible. I played the original Lego Star Wars again before I started on this for the first time today and I can see the improvements. The graphics and cut scenes look great! It takes having to see for yourself to explain it.
The game is just as fun as the original, really even more so since you get to play the classic characters! I have only played through episode IV and I have to say that I really am impressed. The last mission of Episode IV is that you take control of the X-Wing and that entire level is really well done and looks a lot better than the flying missions on the first game. It is really fun to play the original trilogy.
Overall, this is a must have for Star Wars fans everywhere! Even if you haven't played the first one, you will love the second game. You forget that this is a Lego and it feels like the movies. It has a lot of funny cut scenes, just as the original, that will keep up the fun. Now that both trilogy games have been released, it is a shame that Lego Star Wars III won't be released. That is, unless they figure out another way to add more to this incredible series. It really is addicting and fun, and leaving you wanting more!!!
Are you kidding me?

Legos. Star Wars. Corny jokes. And it's a video game. Could there be a more perfect product for a gen-x guy like me? Maybe if it came with beer...

I skeptically bought this game thinking that it would be geared more toward kids. However, I was definitely wrong. This game follows the Original Trilogy almost beat for beat. However, it will substitute out some things and replace it with a Lego themed, more quirky version. This game is very easy to learn and moderately easy to play. The levels are fairly complex and you have to play them multiple times (with different characters) to unlock everything. However, repeating levels does not get old. It is extremely fun playing with different characters - which are required for seeing and obtaining everything in a level. It is a fairly long game (if you don't play all day long) and is also good for kids too.
Fun stuff. I highly recommend this game.
Kind of sad

I'll keep this review short.
I don't like this game. It feels very clunky, and the level design(for all three movies) isn't good. Example: On the Return of the Jedi level 1. You can use Luke Skywalker, and slice through Gimmorian guards with your lightsaber. Well, it's more like blocking with your lightsaber until their attacks are done, and then hitting them 3, or 4 times to stop them. This gets old realy, really fast. Especially since they keep constantly popping out and attacking. It's the equal of cutting a steak with a butter knife. It's just plain awkward. Overall this game just felt rushed, and I was shocked that so many game reviewers gave it good marks. Indiana Jones Lego is so much more superior that I can't even put the two games on the same level. I'm hoping the Batman Lego game is done well like Indiana Jones was.
