Better than the First One

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 70 / 74
Date: March 21, 2007

This one fixes some concerns that people had with the first one: Pick Gal or Boy Character to play and more to do.

Lost in Blue 2 like the first one strands you and a similarly-aged young girl or boy on a deserted island with nothing but your wits and your instincts to save the two of you. Every day is a challenge to face when you're alone and have nothing to sustain you, but the island is full of everything you'll need to stay alive -- if you can find it and grab it.

As the days pass on, you'll grow more comfortable in your home, with make-shift tools and weapons allowing you to create traps, hunt for meat, store supplies to get through harsh weather, and cook filling meals.

Just making it through the day is hard enough, but you will eventually find the strength to be able to explore the island and search for some way to get home.

Like the first game, creative ways to use the Nintendo DS are used to bringing this adventure to life. You fish and hunt by touch, tapping the screen to snare your prey.

Overall - a great adventure game that will please fans of the first game.

Newcommers are better off starting with this one, there's more to do and your partner is not helpless like in the first Lost in Blue game.

Becomes amazing after first 4-5 hours

This is one game in which you must not let the initial tedious 4-5 hours discourage you from playing the game. Once you progress to where you can fish and explore more of the island the game becomes truly addicting and a pleasure to play. I find myself totally lost in the adventure and just enjoying the simple act of cooking fish. I have been progressing to more complex puzzle like challenges, so I can only imagine how good this game gets, but already I consider it one of the best games I have played for any system. I am so glad I did not let the initial limited activity stop me from playing the game.

Excellent Game

This game is not for the light gamer, it is not a shootum up, and it is not one of those games to where "a magical fairie brings you back to life"
It is however one of the best Sim games I have ever played. It makes excellent use of the stylus controls and has a decent storyline. The main gameplay is excellent except for the fact that the characters are incredibily weak characters, it is very much like how real life would be. From making you own tools from raw materials to batlling the elements and wild animals. I will not tell any more as I have not yet beat the game, but it has provided me wit many hours of gameplay. If you are new to the Lost in Blue Series, I would start with LOst in Blue II it has minor but many changes and is a better deal for your money

Very Good!!

I got this game for my birthday, the same day I go tmy first DS lite! YEAH!Anyways, I love this game. It's a little tricky for newbies, but you get used to the controls. I love how much you can use the stylus, you don't even have to touch the controls!!
The beginning is a little wordy and takes a while to find food and such, but once you pass the first day it's good. You have to constantly check you health (HP) and it's gets annoying sometimes, but it's very realistic. You get tired quickly, but you can take breaks.

Finding crabs rises you humger % a lot:
Push the left/right sholder buttons to change the top screen, and leave it at the map when you scavange for food. There is a big sand spot in the middle of no where in the first pat of island. here you can find crabs.

I better shut up now, but overall:
PROS-
-good use of stylus
-great graphics
-fun, addictive
-realistic
-long lasting interest
-great for newbies (BTW, there's no connection w/ the first LOST IN BLUE with the 2nd one)
-several endings

CONS-
-you get tired a lot
-you have to feed yourself AND your partner (until you beat the normal mode, then you can use "serious survival" and go on your own)
-so much stuff to do, so little time, so little energy
-you get hungry a lot, and thirsty

You should buy this game if you want something you will love for a long time.

Lose Yourself for Hours

Konami really delivers with Lost In Blue 2. The animation is fluid and detailed, even beautiful at times. The game itself progresses slowly at first. This is not a game for short attention spans or those seeking immediate gratification. You die many times at first until you get into a life sustaining rhythm. Once you do, the island is yours to explore and you are limited only by how carefully you plan out each day.

I was really disappointed there was no strategy guide available for the game but I soon discovered why I would not want one. All of the things you don't know about the island and your stay there are the things that make the game exciting. This game is about the unknown and that anxiety actually adds to your gaming experience. I found out the hard way how disappointing knowing to much can be when I read a little too much information on an online forum.

For as great as this game is there are a couple of things I find annoying. My partner sometimes seems absolutely helpless. If the secondary character knows how to go gather food and cook it when you ask it too, it should be able to do that for itself when you go out. I feel like a babysitter sometimes and often wish the other character was not there at all. My other big peeve is that when you are out and need to go to sleep you have to go back to your home. I think you should be able to camp and build fires almost anywhere. There could be a cute little sequence when you are camping where you wake up in the night because you hear a noise. More importantly you could get your energy back up to 100% without having to go back home.

Why you should buy this game

First one's good- Second one's gotta be better!-

Basicly,You're this kid who get's stranded on some deserted island. You have to survive on wit and everything else you can find. You can hunt, fish, and sort of harvest crops!! And you can do it all on your own time!- It's an RPG! The only thing that stinks is that you're stuck with this pretty mush RETARTED girl who's litteral blindness prevents her from providing food and shelter for herself. That meens you gotta feed and make comfortable not only yourself, but HER!!! - But she can be useful at times- Overall: Get it!- What's stopping you?- FREE SHIPPING!!

PS- Don't ignore this just because it's a KID'S REVIEW- Beleive me, you'll find this info helpful!

At first I was frustrated with this game because I couldn't figure out exactly what I was supposed to do and how to do it. But I never once thought of putting it down. It was too much fun, even when I wasn't doing well. Once I started putting things together and progressing in the game, it became somewhat of a obsession. That's how much fun it is!
The premise is that you are a castaway stranded on an island after your cruise ship goes down. The only other survivor seems to be another passenger. You can play as either boy or girl and the other character will be your opposite. At first you just have to find a place to rest and stay warm. Then you have to find something to eat and drink. Next thing you know, you're adventuring into the forest, building furniture, killing alligators en wot. All in a quest to escape from the island.
Lost in Blue 2 offers some great game play. There were a few things that were difficult to figure out because the instruction booklet isn't very in depth. But other than that, this is a fantastic game. The stylus let's you do things that you normally wouldn't really enjoy doing in games. Every small task within the story is a minigame. Cooking, starting a fire, fishing, etc. The music is good, but not really memorable. The graphics are appealing and in cut scenes quite nice actually.
Overall, a great game.

great balanced game

This is a great, engrossing game that you can spend hours and hours on. The beginning of the game is a little bit difficult, because vegetables are not very filling so it can be a challenge to keep your character's stats up. I would recommend reading a walk through online to help you through this first part, because it is challenge and can be frustrating. However, once you get through the basics, this game is very fun. It's basically played on two levels (figuratively). The first is the macro level, where you have to keep the stats of your two main characters up. This requires strategy and management. The second level is the micro level, and involves fun activities like fishing, hunting, and cooking. I find the cooking especially fun, since you can collect herbs and seeds to flavor your food, cut the food in certain ways, and grill it. You use the stylus to cut the food, and it's a little like Cooking Mama, except a little simpler and, in my opinion, more gratifying.

Overall, this is a great game if you can stick with it and get through the beginning.
